Personality Questions:

1) List and expand upon your three best traits / strengths. (These should be

personality-related, not physical.)

1. I'm a good listener. I end up speaking to my friends a lot about issues they

are having and trying to give advice.

2. I'm friendly, I'll try to get on with anyone I come across, sometimes it can

come off a bit weird but I tend to keep trying anyway.

3. I consider myself to have a very good imagination, especially around

development of characters.

2) List and expand upon your three worst traits / weaknesses.

1. I do not shut up, ever. I can go ON AND ON AND ON about a subject. For hours.

Even if the person I'm talking to doesn't care about it. It's a very bad habit

but sometimes I don't notice I'm doing it.

2. I find detecting social cues difficult, 'reading' people and judging the

correct way to act in a social setting is very hard for me. I tend to give it a

stab anyway, you can only learn through trying, right?

3. I'm fairly selfish, I like things to go my way and even if I'm not outwardly

disappointed about it then internally I probably am.

3) Rate yourself on the following traits by putting an 'X' in the box you

think fits best. (E.g. if you are slightly more introverted than extroverted,

put an 'X' in the second box.) Explain your choice as well.

Introverted [ ] [ ] [ x] [ ] [ ] Extroverted
Explain: It really depends on the situation, if I'm with friends, I'm

really very extroverted, but if it's around people I don't know especially well

or can't 'read' then I tend to be quiet.

Cheerful [ ] [x ] [ ] [ ] [ ] Gloomy
Explain: I try to be cheerful at all times, but sometimes I get gloomy,

it tends to just happen sometimes.

Reserved [ ] [ ] [ x] [ ] [ ] Impulsive
Explain: Rarely do I think before acting, but if it comes to going out or

things, I need to have a definite plan and I don't like deviating from it.

Energetic [ ] [ x] [ ] [ ] [ ] Calm
Explain: I tend to be buzzing with energy more than I'm calm. I get VERY

excited a lot of the time.

Logical/Thinking [ ] [ ] [ ] [x ] [ ] Emotional/Feeling
Explain: I act with my heart more than my head, but I at least try and

give some logic to my actions.

Grudge-holding [ ] [ ] [ ] [ x] [ ] Forgiving
Explain: I can hold a grudge for quite a while if I'm really unhappy with

someone, but I don't like having conflict with people I see on a regular basis

and I'm more likely to be the one begging for forgiveness than not.

4) Describe how you typically work in teams. Is it generally a good

experience, or do you prefer working by yourself? Do you like to lead and make

decisions or do you prefer to let others make decisions so that you can do the

legwork? You may find it helpful to give an example of a team you worked on

recently and how that went.

I hate working in teams. It rarely goes well. In school you often get put into

groups of people you don't know well, to integrate the class I guess, but that

tends to make me feel very anxious because if I don't know someone quite well I

find it hard to tell what they mean sometimes and I end up focusing a lot more

on that than on the task at hand. In a group of friends though, I'm fine and

tend to try and take the lead, but that's just because I like getting my own

way.

5) Spider-Man Decision: If you had to choose between saving two dozen

innocent children and saving your best friend/significant other/person closest

to you, which would you pick and why?

I hate questions like this. But I think I would save my best friend/significant

other/person closest to me because I don't think I could forgive myself if I

didn't. I never have to see the parents of those children again, so I can escape

the consequences, whereas you knew your friend personally and so the guilt would

be worse.

6) Your friend has had their feelings hurt and comes to you for consolation.

What do you do? Let's say, two days later they come to you again still upset

over the same issue. What would you do in that case?

I'd probably offer comfort and advice both times. Just because they're still

upset a few days later doesn't mean I'm about to change my behaviour. Perhaps

I'd encourage them to start to get over the offence, but nothing more than that

I think.

7) What interests/hobbies do you have? How do you like to spend your free

time?

I used to ride horses, but that got too expensive. I still consider horses an

interest and I follow the competition world as closely as I can. I'm an avid

reader, especially of fantasy novels. I enjoy writing, fanfics, drabbles,

character interaction, you name it I'll give it a go. I play video games,

probably not as much as some people here but if I enjoy a game I try to play it

until the end. I play Dungeons and Dragons twice a week with a group of friends

from my college (Although we do it over the web because half of them are at Uni)

and I love it, it combines some of my favourite things together. I also do some

other roleplaying of the less numbery type, but only really with one person at

the moment. I also make graphics, I'm a little out of practice on big

photomanipulation pieces, but I make icons regularly for icontests and that's

the reason I'm on LJ in the first place.

8) Describe one to three careers you would find ideal, with a little

explanation of why it appeals to you.

I'd love to be a book critic, being able to read books all day and then give

your opinion on them seems like the ideal job to me.

FF Questions:

9) List one to three favorite Final Fantasy games and why you like

them.
Sequels/spin-offs/non-numbered/KH/Dissidia games are okay.

I like Kingdom Hearts: Birth by Sleep. I thought it was really well done for the

PSP, the characters were relatable to, the music was beautiful and it was just

damn fun!

I also like Final Fantasy Dissidia, it combined characters who I knew about from

roleplaying games, which I'm not necessarily all that good at, with a style of

gameplay I actually was decent with. I liked the storylines too, I thought they

were interesting and well thought out/

10) List one to three of your favorite Final Fantasy characters and why:

I like Zack Fair, he's bouncy, bubbly and just full of fun. But, he knows when

it's time to be serious and he does get the job done. I thought he was a really

great character to lead a game, what he did for Cloud was so completely selfless

it really showed the depth of his character.

I like Squall Leonhart. He was a broody teenager who developed after being put

under a lot of stress, I don't blame him for any of the mistakes he made

(including falling in love after 5 total spoken words) because I think they were

all a part of making him a believable teenage character.

11) One to three characters you relate to (you may reuse answers from

#8 if applicable) and why:

I don't really think I relate to any characters. Some of the stuff they go

through in game would completely destroy me. So maybe Hope from XIII, at a push,

because he just reacted like a little kid would have.

12) The FF game you liked playing least:

Final Fantasy XIII. Yes, it was beautiful, but it would've been nice to have a

better battle system than 'Press X constantly to win'. I enjoy an easy RPG, but

this was so easy it was tedious.

13) One to three FF characters you dislike and why:

Tifa from VII. I don't like how goddamn clingy she was to Cloud, it just

bothered me. I didn't like the type of character she was in Dissidia either,

it's just not a type of person who sits well with me.

14) Favorite weapon in a Final Fantasy game (either the name if you liked the

name, or a picture if you liked the look of it, or a description if it had

awesome stats/abilities):

I love Sephiroth's Masamune, because, y'know, HUGE ASS SWORD. I just always

found it really impressive.

15) Your favorite Final Fantasy summon (e.g. Ifrit, Carbuncle, Bahamut,

etc.):
Carbuncle, it's adorable.

16) Your favorite spell/ability/technique that can be learned in a Final

Fantasy game (e.g. Esuna, Steal, special finishes/overdrives such as Tifa's

Final Heaven limit break, etc.):
I like Cure. Playing a cleric in my D&D

game means I know how much a healing spell is valued, I like that FF had healing

spells rather than just potions or 'health kits'.

17) A Final Fantasy mini-game/sidequest you invested entirely too much time

into:
Finding all the stickers in Kingdom Hearts: Birth by Sleep. Dear lord

I spent forever doing it.

18) Your favorite Cid: Highwind. (Tea. That is all.)

19) Optional: Up to one class you think does not fit you, with

reasoning why.
I'm happy with wherever you put me.

Okay, this was a really hard decision between White Mage and Thief (and some Black Mage in places) so I actually had to make a little checklist whilst going through this app to decide which I preferred for you.

Ultimately I decided Thief because, well, it had the longer list in my notepad.

I figured the friendliness, cheer, excitability, imagination (which must be pretty necessary to be a decent thief) and just not shutting up coincided with more bouncy characters like Rikku and Yuffie. There's also the fact that although you're cheerful, you can get gloomy, which can also be seen in those characters when put in a difficult situation (Rikku not wanting Yuna to sacrifice herself, stuff like that) and that links in with wanting to save a person you know rather than a group of people who you don't in the Spiderman decision.

(using this userpic because of Cid H., you love it.)

Gotta say, if Zack were a thief I think he is you. Which isn't really helping, except that I still think you are a thief. Getting a good Zidane vibe here too. Wonder how many more Zs I can stick in here heh.

Banner, Y U NO SHOW UP.

(I'm a soldier. I think I'll just stick to bannerless nowadays because I have so much problems with getting it to work.)

Based on your traits, your spiderman decision, your friendliness, and your imagination, I'm probably going to go with Thief as well.

(And, gotta say, I really agree that Hope reacted realistically to what was going on ♥♥♥)

While reading most of your application, I was torn between Thief and Black Mage, which is a really odd place to be stuck between. In the end, I am going to go with Black Mage. I think the "Spider-Man decision" question is usually the deal breaker when it comes to the final say, but there were several other answers to questions that helped me decide. (And I'll say it again, like I say on every other application I vote on, I always feel strange telling people which team I think they should be on based on their personality. You know you! I know what you tell me.)

The fact that you've described yourself as a bit of a social wallflower is what sealed it for me. I hate drawing character parallels (you remind me of so-and-so from FF-What-Have-You), but a lot of the qualities you described make me think more mage-like thoughts, if that makes sense? There's reservation and seriousness, but there's also passion and determination and your self-proclaimed selfishness.

Welcome to the comm, I know you're going to enjoy it here! ♥

Hmm...I'm honestly torn between Soldier, Monk, and Thief for you (with some Black Mage on the side! XD). ♥ I definitely think you fall under the "Zack, Tidus, and Luneth" Soldier spectrum...but, I also think your answers fit *really* well for the majority of the more energetic Thief characters too! But...you also really like Cure based on your Final Fantasy section answers, which kind of has me thinking more of Monks in general since many of them do have healing abilities in FF to go along with their martial art ones. So, I actually think I'm going to be totally random and vote Monk here! Ironic, since Tifa is one...but, I think your application feels more like the Monk characters such as Snow from FFXIII, Zell from FFVIII, Prishe from FFXI/Dissidia 012, Ursula from FFIV: The After Years, and even Lisa from Unlimited anyways (not so much Tifa!). Many of the Monk characters in FF are good listeners, friendly ("I'll try to get on with anyone I come across, sometimes it can come off a bit weird but I tend to keep trying anyway" sounds a lot like Zell to me!), have pretty good imaginations (Prishe in particular!), tend to talk forever if they're interested in something (Zell and Prishe), have a hard time reading social cues from others (Snow, Zell, Prishe), and can even be fairly selfish at times (both Snow and Prishe in some cases, and Zell to an extent).

I think the Monk class as a whole tend to be in-between when it comes to being introverted/extroverted, especially concerning the situation. A lot of the characters I listed above are pretty extroverted, but they have moments when they can be quiet too. Monks tend to be cheerful most of the time but have the occasional gloomy moment...and, while impulsive enough that they will often jump into a situation without thinking, if they DO have plans they tend to like sticking to them (Zell, Prishe, Lisa, and even Rude from FFVII showcase this at certain points). Quite a few of the Monks tend to be more Energetic than Calm...and they all often act with their hearts more than their heads, but prefer SOME logic behind their actions. Most of the Monk characters in FF are more forgiving too, although they have the potential to hold grudges for a long time if really unhappy with someone.

I see most of the Monks in FF as fine with working in groups along with their friends, but not necessarily thrilled with working in teams otherwise...in groups of friends, some of them like trying to take the lead too (Snow and Lisa). I can also see some of the Monk characters deciding to save the person closest to them in the Spider-Man decision question (or...being like Snow and just deciding to save everyone while their main goal is saving the person closest to them!). I also think most of the Monks would offer comfort and advice to their friend too, being encouraging to them without being pushy about it.

~Yay, a Kingdom Hearts: Birth by Sleep fan! ♥

I can see quite a bit of the "Luso, Zack, Tidus, and Luneth" type of Soldier character at times in your application, along with many of the Thief characters and several Blacks Mages too...but I believe I'm going to agree with the very detailed vote for Monk that was above me. I feel like it probably has the best combination of the various parts of your application if I was to look at ALL of the characters that make up the Monk class.

Many Monk characters are friendly, good listeners, and can be rather creative when it comes to imaginations. They can be pretty talkative, and sometimes aren't as good at reading social cues as those around them might otherwise be. And there are instances where some Monk characters do display some selfish tendencies...so all of your positive and negative traits fit that job class very well. There are several Monk characters who aren't as talkative around people they aren't familiar with (Lisa from Unlimited, Yang and Ursula from the FFIV games, Rude from FFVII, Cornelia from the Mythril Musketeers in FFXI, etc.), though most of them are more willing to talk a bit more if they're around people they're very close to. There are several Monk characters who like to think things through before acting (Lisa, Rude, Yang, and Ursula in particular), and quite a few Monk characters are very energetic as well. "I act with my heart more than my head, but I at least try and give some logic to my actions." seems quite fitting with several of the Monk characters in the FF series to me, as did your response about holding a grudge if someone really makes you unhappy but not wanting to be in conflict with someone you interact with on a daily basis.

How you answered the group work preference question seemed rather fitting for several Monk characters as well, and I could see a few of the Monk characters also perhaps reacting to the Spider-Man scenario question in a similar vein too. How you would comfort a friend who was upset also seems very fitting in general with how several Monk characters do try to comfort those close to them at times in the series as well. :)

Hehe, I loved reading your answers to the FF questions. Yay for another Birth by Sleep fan...and I loved your reasoning for liking Cid Highwind (a love of tea is indeed awesome!). ♥

Clearly I am not going to help with the votes much, but I'm going with Monk. I can definitely see the Thief and Black Mage votes as well (yours was difficult, heh) but I keep getting this sense that you're a bit of a blend of both monk types - there's the really, really impulsive kind, like Zell, who tend to rush in with their fists and can probably make a few social gaffes to say the least... and then there's the calmer, supportive ones like Tifa, who dedicate a lot of energy to something even though they don't necessarily run in to kick down doors and punch someone. I feel like the way you act around your friends and the fact that you do try to think things through at times but still continually buzz with energy and often jump right in... I think that's very Monk, overall.

My answer for the spiderman question was very similar fyi. XD

I think I will have to go with thief although I saw a lot of monk in there too. But thief was my first instinct when I was reading through so it's what I stuck with in the coin toss. Your exuberance and your teamwork answer was what decided it for me.

(Team dragoon!)

[identity profile] compass-ink.livejournal.com 2011-11-26 04:47 pm (UTC)(link)
I think I am going to join those who are voting for thief. The preference towards working alone could be Dragoon too, along with the quiet / analytical answers about reading, book critique, and D&D, but working alone is definitely a tendency of thieves in the series who go around doing sneaky things solo. The friendliness/imagination and the could-be selfish pragmatism puts you over into Thief for me.

Hrm... this is hard. I started out thinking that a Monk/White Mage mixture was a pretty good fit (mostly for your positive traits and your dichotomy answers). I also see Thief, but I'm kind of thinking a cheerful Soldier type now? There's Zack/Tidus-like friendliness and impulsiveness but also a distance that comes from not being able to read people well and sort of a lack of confidence in working with people that makes me think of Soldier characters like Lightning. Urgh sorry this app is a hard one for me.

I really love KH:BBS too. :)

[identity profile] the-404-error.livejournal.com 2011-11-28 12:24 am (UTC)(link)
I see a bit more Monk than the other classes, although I can see a fair amount of just about... everything. Monks are more likely to be guided by emotion than the other classes - at least the more recent ones are - and they're among the most forgiving. They usually serve the role of offering comfort and advise, but can take the lead if they need to or if they want something enough. Many of your traits can apply to the thieves as well, but those in particular tip it to the monk side for me.
