Application

The Basics:

Name: Aaron
Age: 24
Location: Springfield, MO
Occupation: Hotel Front Desk Clerk
How did you find out about this community? My wife, Virago_Queen

Personality Questions:

1) List and expand upon your three best traits / strengths.
I would have to say 1) Intelligent - I always did well in school (when I tried) and people are always looking to me for answers, and not just with bookwork. I rarely comment on this, though, in fear of sounding arrogant. 2) Funny - I'm told by everyone I know how much they enjoy my sense of humor. Sometimes I try a little too hard, I think, but I usually get laughs wherever I go. My sense of humor is extremely broad and can span everything from the most vulgar, brainless, immature content all the way up to jokes about historical figures and politics that usually go over peoples heads. 3) Loyal - I value my family and friends over everything else in my life. Once you've earned my trust, you can count on me being there for you in whatever it is you need. On the other hand, if anyone ever betrays that trust, I tend to be equally suspicious and vengeful.

2) List and expand upon your three worst traits / weaknesses.
1) Short-tempered - I can't stand people without common sense, and I tend to fly off the handle at the first sign of that kind of stupidity. 2) Stubborn - I can't admit I'm wrong, even when I should. This has gotten better over the last few years, but it's still a problem. 3) Lazy - I find it hard to get motivated to do something I'm not interested in. Once I convince myself something's a priority it becomes almost a single-minded focus, but it's getting there that's the problem.

3) Rate yourself on the following traits by putting an 'X' in the box you think fits best. (E.g. if you are slightly more introverted than extroverted, put an 'X' in the second box.) Explain your choice as well.

Introverted [ ] [ ] [ ] [ ] [X] Extroverted
Explain: I'm outgoing to the extreme. I love meeting new people and making friends. I'm the guy that walks into a room, looks for the guy that's not neck-deep in his cell phone, and starts up a random conversation.

Cheerful [ ] [X] [ ] [ ] [ ] Gloomy
Explain: I'm cheerful 95% of the time, and extremely so. I'm always the "silver-lining" type, but eventually my optimism levels hit empty and I need to take a day or two to be gloomy as hell, which effected this decision. After that day or two, it's like someone flipped a switch and I'm back to being cheerful.

Leader [ ] [ ] [X] [ ] [ ] Supportive
Explain:I picked the middle-of-the-road response because I'm perfectly content to let someone else lead, until they prove they're incompetent...then I feel an overwhelming need to immediately relieve them of their responsibilities and take care of it myself.

Confident [ ] [X] [ ] [ ] [ ] Modest
Explain: In the past I've been very paranoid that being confident could make others think I'm arrogant, but over time I've come to realize that being overly modest makes a person look weak, so this is an area of largely changed in, especially recently.

Reserved [ ] [ ] [ ] [X] [ ] Impulsive
Explain: I like to think I'm logical most of the time, but the truth is that when I see something I want, I tend to find ways to acquire it immediately, regardless of if it makes sense or not.

Energetic [ ] [ ] [ ] [X] [ ] Calm
Explain: There are a few subjects I can get excited about, but as a rule I tend to be extremely laid back.

Feminine [ ] [ ] [ ] [ ] [X] Masculine/Tomboyish
Explain: I don't think of myself as overly-macho in the least, but I think anyone that knows me will agree there's not really a feminine bone in my body.

4) Describe how you typically work in teams. Is it generally a good experience, or do you prefer working by yourself? Do you like to lead and make decisions or do you prefer to let others make decisions so that you can do the legwork? You may find it helpful to give an example of a team you worked on recently and how that went.
I think I answered this question fairly thoroughly above, but I'll reiterate: I'm perfectly content to follow a competent leader, but as soon as he/she proves they don't have the capability of getting the job done, I'll be the first to tell them and the first to do something about it.

5) What interests/hobbies do you have? How do you like to spend your free time?
I tend to spend my time playing video games and watching movies, preferably with friends.

6) Describe one to three careers you would find ideal, with a little explanation of why it appeals to you.
When it comes to work, I enjoy creating and I enjoy interacting with people, so I think something along the lines of a teacher would be great. I could teach in a way that I feel would be interesting to my students and create my own lesson plan, and I would hopefully be leaving a meaningful impact on someone else's life. Aside from that, I tend to be a little loud-mouthed sometimes and I love giving people my opinion, just to see if they agree with me, so being a critic of some kind would be pretty cool as well.

FF Questions:

7) List one to three favorite Final Fantasy games and why you like them. Sequels/spin-offs/non-numbered/KH/Dissidia games are okay.
My favorites would probably be FF9 and FF10, and for very similar reasons. I enjoyed a great majority of the characters from both of these games, the dialogue and story were top notch, and the musical scores for both were unbelievable. I can't speak highly enough about either of these.

8) List one to three of your favorite Final Fantasy characters and why:
My favorite characters would have to be Reno from FF7, Auron from FF10, and Balthier from FF12. I can most closely associate with Reno, but Auron and Balthier are both just too cool to accurately measure, and for completely different reasons.

9) One to three characters you relate to (you may reuse answers from #8 if applicable) and why:
Ha ha, well, Reno, obviously. His entire attitude, especially in Advent Children, is right up my alley. Other than that I would say Tidus for his willingness to do what's right, but overall light-heartedness.

10) The FF game you liked playing least:
So far, FF13...simply because I've played that game for damn near 10 hrs and I'm still not out of the GD tutorial...=S

11) One to three FF characters you dislike and why:
Quina from FF9, hand down. Biggest waste of space piece of crap character in the universe.

12) Favorite weapon in a Final Fantasy game (either the name if you liked the name, or a picture if you liked the look of it, or a description if it had awesome stats/abilities):
I would say just the overall concept of the gunblade is just straight up amazing. I can't think of a specific model I liked more than any other, but the idea of a sword-gun is just too cool.

13) Your favorite Final Fantasy summon (e.g. Ifrit, Carbuncle, Bahamut, etc.):
Either Bahamut from FF9 or Anima from FF10.

14) Your favorite spell/ability/technique that can be learned in a Final Fantasy game (e.g. Esuna, Steal, special finishes/overdrives such as Tifa's Final Heaven limit break, etc.):
I'm a big fan of the Lion Heart limit break from FF8/Omnislash from FF7. There's just something about hitting your opponent a bajillion times for max damage that I find very satisfying. =P

15) A Final Fantasy mini-game/sidequest you invested entirely too much time into:
This is actually really sad, but the play at the beginning of FF9, specifically the sword fight Zidane has with Blank. It's a one time thing and has no bearing on the rest of the game, but I tend to do it over and over again just because I love the music and think it's fun as hell.

16) Your favorite Cid:
I'm not a huge fan of any of them, TBH, but I'll go with Cid Highwind just because he has some hilarious dialogue.

17) Optional: Up to one class you think does not fit you, with reasoning why.
I would say White Mage, and I believe the reasons are pretty much obvious...lol.

Your overall energetic and extroverted personality really reminds me of Thief, but I'm going to go with Dragoon for you. Your loyalty stands out a lot for one thing, and that's what Dragoons are known for. Another thing is also that you're stubborn, which to me fits the "steadfast" and unwavering kind of personality a Dragoon has :D (I know they're not the same thing haha.)

Team Monk

[identity profile] virago-queen.livejournal.com 2011-02-16 05:53 pm (UTC)(link)
...wat. o_o My own husband doesn't tell me that he's signing up for this! I feel betrayed. ;_; Guess you got tired of listening to me blather on about how awesome this place is, huh? =P

Let's see here...

This is really hard. =/ Dragoons are too withdrawn, I think (though they do have exceptions, ala Fang) and Thieves are too hyper and crazy. Mages are definitely out. So that leaves Soldier and Monk, which are both really good fits. But I think I'll probably have to go with Soldier as my vote. Honest, cheerful, extroverted, impulsive, these are all Monk traits. However! These are also the qualities found in the cheerful hero-types, like Tidus or Zack. Your leadership ability (and refusal to follow stupid people) mixed with your loyalty to family and calm-but-short-tempered attitude really feels Lightning-like.

Why is it harder to vote on people you know? Makes no sense, lol.

Hate to say it, but i'm definitely feeling Dragoon will fit you best. You are loyal, and it seems like you like big attacks that are powerful as well. These traits fit Dragoon best. I was almost with Virago_Queen and going with her choice.

In the end Dragoon just seems to fit your descriptions and choices lol. I'm getting Ryan on here as well so then i'll have to vote on him too! It will probably be a bit more difficult ;)

I think you're very much a Thief. I just get a very light-hearted and upbeat feel from this app from the humor you listed as one of your best traits, marking the far extreme of extroverted, and being cheerful 95% of the time. Very thief-y. I can see Soldier (of the Tidus variety but not really other soldiers?) and Monk as well (seriously, I was worried this would be my third Monk vote today) but I think Thief wins out in the end.

I think I'm going to vote Thief for you - many of them are intelligent and loyal characters with a pretty good sense of humour, and since you're not just booksmart but seem to be the sort able to come up with new solutions, I think that fits very well with the Thief characters like Locke and Zidane, who are pretty good at improvising a plan that will work. Rikku's also got knowledge of machina, so I think the thieves are pretty intelligent too. I could see a few other classes working for you, but your extroversion and cheerfulness, as well as the fact that you're more laid-back really made me think Thief.

I'd say Thief. You do seem to give off a lot of different vibes at different points, but overall, you seem so cheerful and energetic. You feel like a bit of a trickster, too; I laughed at [livejournal.com profile] virago_queen's comment there. >.>

I do get some Dragoon vibes from you, but in the end, I think your app really screams Monk. You have that very extroverted and impulsive attitude that I tend to associate with Monk characters like, say, Zell for example. I also see Monks as being quite loyal, and some are pretty funny. And as for the negative traits you listed, I feel that most can be rather stubborn and short-tempered. I'm not sure the 'lazy' part quite fits, but I believe they tend to be very focused and enthusiastic about something once they fully set their mind to it. So yes, I'll definitely be sticking by the Monk vote.

Also, yay for gunblade/Lion Heart limit break love. :D Oh, and I'm totally the same way about that sword fight at the beginning of FFIX. I don't know how many times I did that thing...but it was way more than necessary, lol.

At first I was thinking of an unique Dragoon/Thief/Monk mix for you...but the more I read over your application the more I think Soldier might be a good middle-ground overall! Your application reminds me a lot of the more extroverted, fun, and cheerful Soldier characters like Luneth, Tidus, and Zack. Many Soldier characters can be described as intelligent, loyal, short-tempered, and stubborn as well. Quite a few of the Soldier characters are quite content to let someone lead if the person in question isn't incompetent...but they're more than able to lead and take care of things themselves if they feel it is necessary in the long run. Many are pretty confident, lean more towards impulsive, are pretty calm in comparison to some of the other job classes, and not overly feminine. I could even picture quite a few of them having similar dream jobs to yours! :)

I could see a bit of Dragoon, Monk, and Thief at times in your application...but overall I think I'm leaning more towards a Soldier vote too. There's quite a bit of balance and middle ground in your application at times that fits with how varied many of the characters in the Soldier job class tend to be in terms of personality traits...and there are several characters who fit that category as well who are more cheerful, outgoing types such as Desch, Luneth, Luso, Tidus, and Zack just to name a few prime examples. Quite a few Soldier characters can be described as intelligent, the more cheerful ones can be rather funny, a few of them are more short-tempered, they tend to be rather determined and stubborn, and can be described as very loyal or trustworthy characters too. The more cheerful characters I mentioned tend to be extremely outgoing, can be quite optimistic about things for the most part (though they might have a day or two where they feel more pessimistic), are fine with capable people leading but won't hesitate to step in if they feel there is a need for other leadership, tend to be more confident, can be impulsive when it comes to the things they want (though they try to be logical too when they can be), and can be rather calm and laid-back unless they feel very strongly about something. They aren't afraid to voice their opinions, and quite a few Soldier characters seem to take a mentor/teacher role with certain members of their party or group too (such as Zack's supportive friendship with Cloud in CC, Luneth watching out for Arc and Aria in FFIII, Lightning with Hope, Cecil with the younger party members in FFIV, etc.). I could just easily picture you fitting into the Soldier job class due to its versatility in a lot of ways! :D

Yay for FFIX and FFX love too...they're some of my favorite games in the series! ♥

You strike me more as a Soldier type. I admit, I was thinking about Monks before I read the comments above but while you seem more laid-back and fun, they seem too extreme for you? at least that's the vibe I am getting. Soldiers, like mentioned, are usually a balance between characters from Dragoon class and the more laid-back/fun ones like Thieves or Monks. Some of the soldiers are more similar to dragoons personality-wise but you kind of made me think of Luneth and Zack. Modest are usually confident but not as confident as some Monks can be. They can be impulsive, calm, cheerful, short-tempered, very stubborn and very loyal. Your answer to follow/lead question made me think of them and dragoons. While Soldiers usually lead their groups, I imagine they'd be good followers as long as they respect the leader and they wouldn't follow blindly. Your preferences fit that job class very well also. After re-reading your application, I am pretty certain you're a soldier-type to me out of all the available options.
