Personality Questions:

1) List and expand upon your three best traits / strengths. (These should be personality-related, not physical.)
1. Determined/Hard-Working: Once I put my mind to something, there's no way to talk me out of it. If I set a goal for myself, I'm the type of person who will continue to strive for it until I meet it. I can get stressed out VERY quickly if I'm not paying attention to it. I'm determined...to the point of being obnoxiously stubborn sometimes. I try to do a lot of things all at once and will end up getting really stressed before I realize that I've worked myself too thin. I've even gotten physically sick from stress. I'm working on that though, so I still consider my determination a good thing. I don't give up when things get hard.

2. Curious: I will always try to learn new things or better understand things that are a mystery to me. I am a firm believer in the philosophy that one person cannot know all there is to know about a given subject. I'm constantly learning new things, from various academic subjects to life in general. I actually electrocuted myself as a kid once because I wanted to know WHY adults told me not to stick things in electrical sockets (I figured it out pretty quick!). I think being curious about the world is a good thing though. It lets you see the world in a different way once you start to understand things in it better.

3. Independent: I consider this both a positive and negative trait of mine. It's positive in that I can handle things on my own and I look out for myself...it's negative because I feel like relying on others is a weakness, even in cases when it's obvious I need to (like when I'm stressed out for taking too much on myself). I won't ask for help even when I need it because I rely too much on myself and not enough on others. I'm working on that too though.

2) List and expand upon your three worst traits / weaknesses.
1. Untrusting: I have MAJOR trust issues. I can count the number of people I trust strongly with one hand, and even then I don't trust them fully. In a way, I'm very secretive when it comes to things I'm thinking or feeling.

2. Jealous: I can get jealous far more easily than I'd like to. I've been that way since I was a kid and I have yet to grow out of it. I just don't voice it out loud as much anymore.

3. Unforgiving: I am generally a very nice, open-minded person for the most part. It takes A LOT to get me angry. However, once I've reached the point where I do get angry...I get super pissed. I am not a nice person when I'm mad at someone and since it takes a lot to get me mad, if I have managed to get angry I tend not to "forgive-and-forget." It takes a long time for me to get over getting mad, and even longer for me to forgive. When I do "forgive" someone, things are still pretty rocky because I go back to totally not trusting them at all. O_o

3) Rate yourself on the following traits by putting an 'X' in the box you think fits best. (E.g. if you are slightly more introverted than extroverted, put an 'X' in the second box.) Explain your choice as well.

Introverted [ ] [ ] [ ] [X] [ ] Extroverted
Explain: I'm shy for about ten minutes when I'm first meeting someone, but I can't stay that way for long! I find silence really uncomfortable and unnerving, so I will always try to start conversations to fill the void, hehe. :D

Cheerful [ ] [ ] [X] [ ] [ ] Gloomy
Explain: I'm not always a walking ray of sunshine, but I try not to be *super* gloomy or anything like that! I think I fall into more of a middle/realistic ground.

Leader [ ] [ ] [X] [ ] [ ] Supportive
Explain: I prefer to follow, honestly...but, I usually get stuck with leadership positions. Still, I'd rather lead than follow if no one else is going to! I have to really respect someone if they're going to try and lead me, lolz. If I think an individual besides myself can handle the leadership job well, I'm all for offering my support instead.

Confident [ ] [ ] [X] [ ] [ ] Modest
Explain: Outwardly confident, inwardly horribly insecure/doubtful. Despite how I may appear really driven and confident on the outside, most of the time on the inside I am full of doubts and fear. Like I've mentioned before, I just don't like vocalizing that kind of stuff unless I'm around someone I can really trust.

Reserved [ ] [ ] [X] [ ] [ ] Impulsive
Explain: I keep hitting a middle ground here. How unhelpful. :( Still...it depends on what I might want. I am way more likely to be impulsive and jump into something without thinking *if* I'm already excited about it, but if it isn't something that I'm all that interested in I take a few more moments and try to approach it cautiously. I'm sort of more reserved when it comes to "deep" things, like inner-thoughts/feelings. I tend to keep those to myself unless I feel really comfortable with the person I'm talking to.

Energetic [ ] [ ] [X] [ ] [ ] Calm
Explain: It honestly depends on the situation! If I'm at work or doing something that really requires my focus, then I'm extremely calm...but, if it is something I'm excited about, I can get pretty energetic (also, it depends on my caffeine intake! O_O;).

Feminine [ ] [X] [ ] [ ] [ ] Masculine/Tomboyish
Explain: I guess I lean more towards feminine, but I definitely have a bit of a "tomboy" streak in me too. Putting it this way: I'm not the type of girl who gets excited over shoe shopping at the mall (unless we're talking boots, of course!).

4) Describe how you typically work in teams. Is it generally a good experience, or do you prefer working by yourself? Do you like to lead and make decisions or do you prefer to let others make decisions so that you can do the legwork? You may find it helpful to give an example of a team you worked on recently and how that went. If I'm honest, I'm not a huge fan of teamwork. I've had way too many bad experiences with team members that just wouldn't pull their own weight and it really bothers me. When you're in a team, you're supposed to work with the team! If one person does bad, the whole team suffers. I hate that people don't grasp that when working with a team. Sure, I prefer not working with others, but when I have to I make sure I do the work correctly and I give it my all. I don't want to be a burden on the team. ...So, long story short, I don't particularly like working with others, but I do well when I'm forced to. In work I'm usually the person that gets asked to help with the new employees...and even after that training period is over those employees tend to come to me when they have questions because they're more used to me. I try to be friendly and I work hard when I'm in a group setting and if I'm not the leader I tend to prefer just doing what I'm told to make the experience smoother for everyone involved.

5) What interests/hobbies do you have? How do you like to spend your free time? I love listening to music, dancing, reading, making not-so-great graphics, watching TV/movies, playing video games, relaxing by just hanging out with friends and family, etc. I guess I enjoy letting my mind just have a nice creative break in my free time!

6) Describe one to three careers you would find ideal, with a little explanation of why it appeals to you. I've always wanted to be involved in some kind of creative field, but I'm not overly talented when it comes to stuff like that. I find the literary and media arts fascinating...and I even enjoy seeing the impact they have on culture as a whole. I would love to be a travel journalist: going around the world, experiencing different cultures, and reporting back on them so that others can have a better understanding seems like such an amazing job!

FF Questions:

7) List one to three favorite Final Fantasy games and why you like them. Sequels/spin-offs/non-numbered/KH/Dissidia games are okay. Well...my top three favorite FF games are Final Fantasy IX (I loved the world, the humor, the characters, EVERYTHING ♥), Final Fantasy X/X-2 (I consider them both the same game essentially, but I really enjoyed the characters in the FFX world and overall story! I thought it was amazing that even the minor characters had a lot of background and personality), and Final Fantasy XII (gameplay and environment issues aside, I think FFXII has one of the strongest stories in the series. I liked the focus on politics and how realistic/"human" all of the characters were). I have a soft spot for the DS version of Final Fantasy III too for some reason, even though I'm not 100% sure why, lolz.

8) List one to three of your favorite Final Fantasy characters and why: Balthier is pretty much made of win, honestly! He's such an original character that I kind of think he needs to just be in everything. He steals every scene he's in! I also rather like Tidus because I can relate to him to an extent (father issues and all that jazz) and Vivi is a sweetheart. ...Other honorable mentions would include Aerith, Edge, Fang, Sazh, Aria, Shantotto, etc.

9) One to three characters you relate to (you may reuse answers from #8 if applicable) and why: Well, I do relate to Tidus a little bit out of the FF males from a more personal perspective. In rating comms, I've been stamped as Rydia from FFIV and Fang from FFXIII and I think I can see why they would be possible fits for me from the female characters. I tend to approach things the same way they do. ...I've also been told I'm like the personality love child of FFVI's Celes and Locke, which I can definitely see from what I know of their personalities! They seem to be a good mix of my traits.

10) The FF game you liked playing least: FFVII: Dirge of Cerberus! Just...no. Do not want to touch that game with a ten foot pole ever again! The gameplay was awful and the story was sub-par at best. O_O;

11) One to three FF characters you dislike and why: Lucrecia from FFVII...I have made long essays as to why I don't like her character, but I guess it all boils down to that DoC totally ruined anything that was remotely interesting or positive about her: she never admitted to her mistakes or took responsibility for her actions (because, seriously? She said things like "It only affects me!" when she was talking about experimenting on her unborn baby...she wasn't very smart for a scientist, and she obviously wasn't Mother of the Year either). She *literally* ran away from her problems and guilt. I just have a hard time respecting or liking a character like that! I'm also not a huge fan of Snow from FFXIII, but that's more of a "he basically just annoyed me" type of deal than anything else (if I heard him mention the word "hero" one more time I think I was going to scream). O_O

12) Favorite weapon in a Final Fantasy game (either the name if you liked the name, or a picture if you liked the look of it, or a description if it had awesome stats/abilities): The Zodiac Spear from FFXII! I liked the name, I liked the stats, *and* I liked how accomplished I felt after getting it (seriously, that was one hard weapon to attain!). I'm thrilled it will make an appearance in Dissidia 012 too! :)

13) Your favorite Final Fantasy summon (e.g. Ifrit, Carbuncle, Bahamut, etc.): I like a lot of them, but I think I'm leaning the most towards Bahamut. For one thing, dragons are cool! For another...he uses Flare and that's my favorite spell in the series. :)

14) Your favorite spell/ability/technique that can be learned in a Final Fantasy game (e.g. Esuna, Steal, special finishes/overdrives such as Tifa's Final Heaven limit break, etc.): Orz, I answered this accidentally already, but Flare is awesome! There's something simple yet flashy about it all at once. I also like learning/acquiring the Summons in most FF games.

15) A Final Fantasy mini-game/sidequest you invested entirely too much time into: Oh, I did a ton of the missions in Crisis Core...to the point where I was about 30 levels ahead of where I needed to be by the end of the game (on the plus side though, it made the final bosses a breeze!). O_O;

16) Your favorite Cid: That's tough...but, I am still kind of a sucker for Cid Highwind from FFVII. He was actually my first Cid, so maybe that's got something to do with it! :)

17) Optional: Up to one class you think does not fit you, with reasoning why. N/A

I think you're a Monk. Your three positive traits together make me think of monks, especially the combination of independence (monks can definitely take care of themselves) and curiosity (I think monks have kind of a bold sense of curiosity; I can totally see a monk like Sabin sticking something in an electrical socket just to see what happens XD). You also said you like to dance which idk makes me think of monks for some reason! I can also see a bit of Soldier as well since you seem pretty well-rounded.

[identity profile] far-to-nowhere.livejournal.com 2011-01-23 09:46 pm (UTC)(link)
Monk. You actually remind me of a Cid Highwind. You're quite straightforward and unabated with your opinions. And you seem like an independent type who can take care of themselves. You'll follow the group but if everyone is being idiotic you'll roll your eyes and take the lead :D I mean that in the best way possible--like Cid Highwind wouldn't put up with that. If everyone was standing around not getting stuff done, he'd smoke his cig and be like, "Come on let's get going!" I wish you could be the badass subclass of the monks.

I kept on debating back and forth between jobs, but I think I'll say Soldier overall. Perhaps because there's such a wide variety of them, it can be said all of the more-or-less middle ground [x] choices fit to a degree. Almost all of them are more extroverted, but a few are quiet. Many of them can be cheerful, but experience realistic moments of gloom (Tidus is a great example of that one, actually), and while they end up being leaders, not all of them choose to be so-- it just comes naturally to them. Some are more impulsive and energetic (i.e. Tidus again) while others more reserved and calm (i.e. Cecil, Ramza)... Most of them enjoy just hanging out with their friends or family, and I can see them really appreciating high-level spells/items/and such.

Your character traits make me think you're fairly balanced, and you've got a proactivity to you, if that's even a word, so I'll say soldier.

[identity profile] crescent-dreams.livejournal.com 2011-01-24 01:04 am (UTC)(link)
When reading through your application I immediately starting thinking of Soldier, though more towards the Tidus, Lightning (even Beatrix) end of the spectrum. You have a good balance in all the traits listed, usually standing in the middle ground of things, and in my opinion soldiers are not overly impulsive yet not too cautious, can be both energetic and have a bit of gloom to them as well. So I haven't been active on stamping comms in a while, so my vote may not sound the best (and rather scatterbrained) but overall you really come across as a soldier to me.

[identity profile] ehrgeiz.livejournal.com 2011-01-24 11:57 am (UTC)(link)
I was actually thinking of Soldier, too. You have a really balanced out personality (and you remind me of a good deal of characters that fall into this archetype like Tidus and Celes) and that in itself reminds me of Soldier characters. Most of them always seem in the middle of the spectrum when it comes to this/that questions when I think about characters in that stereotype and the answer where you said that you honestly prefer to follow but end up leading regardless seemed like a Soldier thing to say!

Finally someone who dislikes Snow. Oh wait, it's not like i didn't know you dilsike him haha. Anyways I must be weird because I was thinking about Dragoon and Soldier but in the end I am going with the second one. You're independent, unforgiving and untrusting which is something that reminds me of Dragoons but I don't think you're as serious etc. Soldiers, while still independent most of the time, are also very determined, hard-working. I had some doubts while getting to the [x]'d section since they are usually more confident and leader-ish. Still, You said you often end up being in leadership position which makes you a good leader. I mean, why else you'd be in that position more often than not? Yeah, I don't know what else i can add that haven't been said already.

I'm going to go with Soldier, as well. One thing that strikes me about your application is that your traits are sort of balanced - I can see them fitting in a wide variety of classes, and Soldiers are the most varied personality wise. Your teamwork answer fits the class well, too - there's a bit of the lone wolf fighter in there, but you're perfectly capable of pulling your weight and working well with others.

This was difficult. I can see where the Monk votes are coming from and I can see Thief in some answers but in the end I am leaning a bit more towards Soldier for you. I agree with the others, your traits are balanced and even your answers to the "either/or" secion seem sort of balanced and you're determined, harworking, you're curuious and like to learn new things, independent and can handle things on your owns but also unstrusting, jealous and unforgiving traits that remind me of many Soldier characters.

SORTED: SOLDIER
