1.) Highly Responsible

I like to think I'm one of the most responsible broads you'll ever lay your heathen eyes upon. I'm a firm believer in personal responsibility. Your success and stability in life is largely dictated by the personal choices you make in your life. You aren't *~unable~* because of your race, sex, or economic status. If you decide to make poor decisions such as throwing your money away on garbage rather than investing, cutting class and studying time to go screw around with your buddies, or end up knocked up with kids you can't afford because you decided to do some Live Action Role Playing as a high class Troian whore, that was all you, babe. Don't expect people to pay money for your mistakes (you aren't *~entiiiitled~* to it, either). Rarely are things just given to you, either by birth or the Grace of God. You have to get your hands dirty and work for it, be it wealth, respect, or skills. Get rid of the crutch, guy.

I can't stand it when some of my friends complain about their *~circumstances~* they brought ENTIRELY upon themselves, and shift the blame onto someone else, or a disorder they self-diagnosed themselves using Wikipedia. YOU decided to blow $500 bucks on a tattoo, rather than save it for school. YOU decided not to study. YOU never have "any tiiiime" because you've attached your umbilical cord to your USB port. Pull yourself away from the damn Facebook and plan a course of action! You don't have ADD or ADHD like you claim. You're just lazy, and have no drive to improve your station. I have a bona fide learning disability in math (brain damage at birth, or so the story goes), and VERY slight short term memory problem (usually, it's almost imperceptible to people..unless I'm learning dance steps or specific martial arts techniques ). I couldn't enroll in college credit math courses until I passed the State Exit exam. I failed my Beginning Algebra class twice. This past semester, I was in danger of failing again. I did nothing but eat, sleep, and BREATHE math. I tutored four hours a day, four days a week, and continued working when I returned home. And all the while, a voice in my head taunted me silently. Needless to say, I cured its "Silence" status by clobbering it with a sack of quarters and Echo Screens. I had It, and that Exit Exam screaming "OH, MY HERO" in no time flat. And guess what? NO ONE thought I could do it, and NO ONE gave a passing grade to me. I earned it myself.

2.) I don't back down from my beliefs and have a strong sense of right or wrong. I'm not going to change my way of thinking to curry favor with some head honchos, or to make sure I don't *~offend~* someone with thin skin.

3.) I'm as charitable as a woman on Hill Gigas steroids. Or so ViperChurros says.

4.) Oh, look. I miscounted. Here is a fourth trait: I like to think I have a deliciously twisted sense of humor. I wouldn't mind going into writing with it. :D

1.) Overly analytical and methodical. I have a proclivity to plan every. Little. Detail. And paralyzing myself because of it.

3.) I can't just sit and listen to someone download all of their problems on me. I always have to find a solution. I can't stand it when people just sit there and take it when something CAN be done to ameliorate it. A few of my friends in high school (usually the female ones) always took this the wrong way, and found me a bit *~insensitive~*.

Straight up, I prefer being left alone to my own devices. Contrary to what I've typed above, I'm actually fairly aloof, and can come across as surly and unapproachable (just look at my face, lol). I tend to not initiate conversation or speak much; I prefer to listen. I'm of the persuasion that "less is more"; I'd rather have a handful of loyal friends than 50 acquaintances. Explain: I prefer male things; martial arts, seinen manga (BERSERK), camo, calisthenics, low-brow humor, politically incorrect jokes, etc. I'd rather not sit around and gush over epicene "male" heart throbs that need to hit the weights and grow some chest hair, the guys you slept with IN DETAIL (I have a lot of female friends that do this. In public. In restaurants. ) or how *~faaaaat~* you are.

4) Describe how you typically work in teams. Is it generally a good experience, or do you prefer working by yourself? Do you like to lead and make decisions or do you prefer to let others make decisions so that you can do the legwork? You may find it helpful to give an example of a team you worked on recently and how that went.

I prefer working by myself, however, if I MUST work with others, I'm usually the first to take charge; in my experience, I've found that people are lazy and would rather be told what to do. It's cool with me to delegate and give them a kick in the rear when they start to slack. Bottom line, I can take orders and I can give them.

5) What interests/hobbies do you have? How do you like to spend your free time? Calisthenics, drawing, video games, martial arts (Aikido, specifically), politics, reading (mythology and Robert E. Howard's "Conan"), guitars (self taught..this ain't goin' well) manga.

6) Describe one to three careers you would find ideal, with a little explanation of why it appeals to you.

1.) US Marine (with the MP MOS specialty)

I'd be serving my country, and be a law enforcement officer at the same time. That, and a few people that are MPs in different branches (I have a friend that is an Army MP) tell me it's a BLAST...or very dull. I love this country and all that it stands for. I'd gladly die for it.

Half of my family escaped a totalitarian communist regime with NOTHING but the clothes on their backs. This country's boundless opportunity allowed many of those relatives to go from living in one room houses with dirt floors (the old country), to having their own homes, and successful businesses. One of them even became a millionare. I don't think a lot of us (those that live in the US, lol) truly realize how lucky they are to be Americans. The ugly truth is that there are people in the world that want to kill us, and I think it is my duty to help protect and defend it.

2.) Graphic Novelist

This looks like fun! I want to show the world what a REAL story looks like! Ever see Kentaro Miura's Berserk? GREAT stuff. The brother's my idol.

3.) Video Game Character designer

(Move over, Nomura. This is how you draw a MAN!) Lately, I think many video game designers are lacking in originality. Many of the characters and demons look like palette swaps from World of War Craft type games. Oh. Horns. Yeah, elves. What? These things with the pointy ears aren't elves? Oh, HIGH elves...yeah, 'cause they suffer from albinism or something.


FF Questions:

7) List one to three favorite Final Fantasy games and why you like them. Sequels/spin-offs/non-numbered/KH/Dissidia games are okay.

1.) Final Fantasy IV would have to be my favorite. This game was literally my first RPG; I was in preschool when I picked this bad boy up, and I think this game has aged considerably well for what it is. I like the game for its sound track, believable characters, and that story is somewhat dark (for its time, anyway). This was also one of the few games where I didn't mind the romance. In many of the JRPGs I've played, I normally want to put a .44 caliber round behind the head of the heroine because of her constant emotional outbursts. But Cecil and Rosa? I like how they keep their relationship low-key.

I'd like to illustrate this game one day, and flesh it out a bit (lol, fun with side quests). And who doesn't love Cid's outburst at Babs? "THAT [bleeping] BROAD!!"

As for the sequel? I like to believe it doesn't exist.

2.) Final Fantasy VI was my second Final Fantasy game. I like this one for most of the reasons why I love Final Fantasy IV. This game actually creeped me out as a kid, and I loved how violent it was (my second grade teacher, looking at my fan art? Not so much).

3.) Final Fantasy Tactics (PSone). Ohhhh sweet LAWD, this one's a good 'un! I like this one for its characters and story. This game is the love child of political thriller and dark fantasy after one torrid night in Troia! Straight boots-to-nuts action, people stepping on throats, and back stabbings in the worst possible way.

8) List one to three of your favorite Final Fantasy characters and why:

1.) Cid Pollendina

I like the guy for his strength of personality and strong work ethic--that, and he has the wedding tackle the size of the Lunar Whale to threaten the King of an entire COUNTRY that he'll "knock his teeth in".

2.) Cecil Harvey

He's kind of a given; the dude was my first RPG hero (And to quote Rosa, "I'd hit that s#1t with a 100% accuracy rate!"). I like that he's courageous and magnanimous, but he doesn't prance about like your typical naive, clean cut, squeaky clean hero of that era. You know the type; the kind you want to gift a pair of cement galoshes and a fish net to, and then have him "catch fish" at the bottom of Lete River because he's such an obnoxious goody two shoes? Yeah.

But I digress! Cecil is stoic and duty bound, and I like that in a male hero. Rather than cry and eat a gallon of chocolate ice cream with his men about cutting a bloody swath through some Mysidians to gank their crystal, he acts becoming of a military officer and verbally smacks them around to keep 'em in line, rather than fan the flames of discontent that could possibly harm the king. Instead, to quote The Rossman, he confides his doubts to his "hot tamale" of a girlfriend.

I also admire his perseverance. He doesn't complain, or cut his wrists over how *~useless~* and *~weak~* he is, he just goes out there and bursts some guts with the heel of his boot. And most of all, he LEADS.

Dissidia Cecil makes me rage. Not only is he painfully out of character, what heck were the designers thinking giving the dude child bearing hips and make up (not to mention, an unimpressive physique)? It's hard to believe this is the same guy that practically swam to Mysidia wearing a 65lb suit of armor, descended Mt.Ordeals with nothing but a sword and a banana hammock (tunic, underwear, same thing), heroically saved his main squeeze, AND slipped her the tongue in front of EVERYBODY. SAY WHAT YOU WANT, BUT THIS IS MANLY

9) One to three characters you relate to (you may reuse answers from #8 if applicable) and why:

I can't say I relate to any characters. There are some traits I admire, though (Cid's work ethic, Agrias's sense of duty).

10) The FF game you liked playing least:

OH SWEET GOD Final Fantasy 13. Final Fantasy 13. FINAL FANTASY 13. "LOL, HEY GUISE WHERE'S OUR PLOT AND OUR PERSONALITIES? LOL" Sazh and Yun Fang are the only two positive attributes about that game. Everyone else? They look like they'd be better suited on the ads for Crest teeth whitening strips you see at the dentist's office.

11) One to three FF characters you dislike and why:

I have a handful of characters I dislike, but the one who is currently standing the most prominently in my mind's eye is Snowe. To be brief? MAN CHILD.

12) Favorite weapon in a Final Fantasy game (either the name if you liked the name, or a picture if you liked the look of it, or a description if it had awesome stats/abilities):

I like the blade the King of Fabul gives you, because it practically obliterates all enemies in one hit! I believe it's either called "Death" or "Death Bringer".

13) Your favorite Final Fantasy summon (e.g. Ifrit, Carbuncle, Bahamut, etc.):

Final Fantasy VIII's Doom Train. Not because of all the sweet MUY MAL status effects it can possibly inflict upon your enemies, but the fact I like shouting, "WOOO WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!! HERE COMES THE PAIN TRAIN!"

14) Your favorite spell/ability/technique that can be learned in a Final Fantasy game (e.g. Esuna, Steal, special finishes/overdrives such as Tifa's Final Heaven limit break, etc.):

It's a tie (*~I love it when men fight over me~*) between Kain's "Jump" and the "Wave Fist" the Monk class can learn in Final Fantasy Tactics. I was able to defeat Odin and Bahamut WOEFULLY under level with his Jump. Wave Fist always resulted in a critical hit that turns my enemies into ugly piles of Picasso.

15) A Final Fantasy mini-game/sidequest you invested entirely too much time into:

Two of them, actually:

1.) Cecil's mini-game on the DS (I don't remember what it was called. Cecil's 'Roid Rage, Cecil on a Kilo of Troian Coke and Jalapeno Poppers, Cecil Meets Tetsuya Nomura, Cecil's Troian Bar Brawl...). It only took me five tries, but with the help of Dethklok on my itunes, I was able to score 9,989...haven't been able to score any higher. KILL!

2.) The Pink Tail quest. I was too much of a mathematical bonehead to figure out just how small that percentage was for the Pink Puff to drop that item, until one of my friends told me...;_;

16) Your favorite Cid:

Final Fantasy IV's, hands down!

17) Optional: Up to one class you think does not fit you, with reasoning why.

White Mage. I'm not a healer! Besides, all that pill measuring involves MATH.

Hmm...I was torn between Monks, Soldiers, and Dragoons for you (gah, I'd be tempted to do a double-vote with two of those categories in particular but that really wouldn't help things--so, moving on...). I think I might be leaning slightly more towards a Dragoon vote though. You remind me a lot of crosses between Dragoon characters such as Kain, Ricard, Kimahri, Cid Highwind, Ward, Freya, and Fang in particular. Dragoons are incredibly responsible characters in their respective games who do seem to appreciate hard-work a lot, they don't back down from their beliefs and can have a strong sense of justice, can be charitable at times when it comes to people that they care about or who they sense might need it, and some of them (Fang and Cid Highwind in particular) can have some pretty interesting senses of humor. Many Dragoon characters are also shown to be more over-analytical or methodical at times, and they usually do want to try and figure out solutions to problems instead of simply listening to others talk about them. Quite a few Dragoon characters (Kain, Freya, Ricard, Kimahri, Fang, and Ward) are more introverted in terms of their mannerisms in that they don't really like to initiate conversations and prefer to listen instead...and many of them would prefer to have just a few loyal friends than numerous acquaintances too. They can be a bit pessimistic at times, and can be either a leader or a supportive figure in a group depending on circumstances (as Kain, Ricard, Kimahri, and Cid Highwind all displayed leadership qualities in certain groups while still maintaining a supportive role in their respective game parties). Many of them (Freya, Kain, Ricard, Kimahri, and Ward especially) are quite humble, and Dragoons tend to be more reserved and cautious with how they approach problems--though every once in a while they'll show a bit of an impulsive side (and I could see some of them like Cid Highwind saying something about peace through superior firepower too!). They also tend to be the more calm-minded characters in their game's parties as well. How you described your preferences when it comes to working in groups as well as your ideal careers (as quite a few Dragoon characters such as Kain, Ricard, and Kimahri seem very honor-bound and dutiful to what they feel is important) fits rather well with Dragoon-type characters to me also. :)

I loved reading your FF thoughts, by the way. Haha, Kain's "Jump" skill was something I was very thankful for in quite a few battles in FFIV too! ♥

I'm torn between giving you an actual vote (Dragoon) and giving a no vote. I think your app towards the end takes on a more honest/forthcoming tone. The part at the beginning, though, I am honestly having a hard time determining what parts are joking and what parts are serious. And I know that filling out an app humorously is as much an indication of your personality as anything else, so I'm trying to take that into account as well, but the clash between the content of what you said and the tone of what you said is throwing off my Dragoon vote! In particular, I'm confused by your "calm" answer in #3 when the rest of the application seems... not calm, and the "low blood pressure" explanation you wrote there is not helping me.

I'm going to say No Vote for now. I'll reconsider but I need some kind of explanation for your answers especially on the #3 because I can't reconcile them with the feel I got on the rest of your application.

I can kind of see where the No Votes are coming from because I am having a hard time picturing you in just one of the classes, but the more I read over your application the more I do think you'd fit in well with the Dragoon class. I think your strengths fit for most of the characters in that class really well (Kain and Cid Highwind) and I think your overly analytical and methodical traits fit well for many Dragoon characters too...and most of them are not known for being the most sensitive characters in the cast (though they often try to figure out solutions to problems too). Your "rate your traits" section answers fit for Dragoon characters as well...and I think how you work in teams reminds me of many of the Dragoon characters too. :)

...Maybe I'm interpreting your application differently from many of the voters above me, but overall I just see that you have a very dry sense of humor (much like Cid Highwind or even Fang). O_O; I can still see you fitting relatively well with the Dragoon class given the characteristics/traits of most of those characters in the FF games themselves.

I'm sorry. Your application comes across as offensive and self-righteous - why the rant? What does the rant have to do with being 'highly responsible'? I find your first section rather contrary to the later parts of your application, as well, not just in content but in tone. There's a lot of abrasiveness and hostility in your application - I doubt this is intentional, but you come across as accusatory, which is, I'm afraid, not the best way to make a good impression on people. After all, what have we ever done to you? Also, the thing about not worrying about 'offending someone with thin skin' - sure, it's good to state your points openly and forthrightly, but please remember that this FF community is a general one and that the FF fandom at large is full of infighting and differing opinions, and that tact is called for at times. Your abrasiveness makes me worried that you won't fit in this community, which is about open discussion as much as it is about points and games and fandom.

Aside from your eloquently twisted sense of humor, I find most of your statements rather contradictory.

You say you're responsbile, but all your examples are self-righteous rantings about other people being irresponsible, not so much about you yourself being responsible. I see drive in you, which is good, but it's not the same thing as responsibility. And, in fact, the most entitled person seems to be you, yourself, as if your disability gives you the right to slam down on everyone else. :\

You say you're charitable, and while I know that's not quite the same as kind, but I can hardly imagine a charitable person going around insulting everyone and everything the way you did in this application.

You say you need to help others solve their problems, but your attitude seems to just be, "It's their problem, and they got into it. They got what they deserved."

And. Look. People aren't *~unable~*, nor do they find you *~insensitive~*. They're unable, and they find you insensitive. You're the one seeing drama in everything where there may not be any. Please don't bring your drama here, to us.

Honestly just from your app alone, I'm not sure I'd be fully comfortable in the same community as you. You come across as rude, abrasive, and downright hostile for seemingly no reason. (What'd we ever do to you?) I appreciate someone speaking their mind as much as the next girl, but there are certain limits I guess?

I was tossing between several classes at times, in part because many of your traits do seem... contradicting? This normally wouldn't be a problem (hell, I call myself that on my applications), except it makes it difficult to place you anywhere as I can either go by the traits you listed or how you come across, which would place you in two entirely different classes. (Ex: You mentioned being humble and calm, but your tone is the exact opposite of those two traits.)

Due to this, I'm going with No Vote for now as well. While I don't think you're purposely trolling or lying like the info page associates with this vote, I do think there is a lack of self-awareness which makes me uncomfortable placing you anywhere for previously mentioned reasons.

I definitely see where the Dragoon votes are coming from, but I'm going to have to go with No Vote as well. While the second half of your application demonstrates the ability to make thoughtful, sometimes humorous, comments and gives me the idea that you probably aren't a troll, I can't quite get over my initial impression. I'm going to try to explain exactly what my major issue is, and please understand that these criticisms aren't a personal attack, just my interpretation of your words.

I haven't been involved with this community for long (I made my very first post today), but I have a friend who has been involved for longer and I've heard a lot of good things. As people have commented on my own application, I've experienced their kindness myself. I can't say that your first (please keep in mind my comments about the second half) responses made me feel like you would fit in well with the people here. The rant at the very beginning was unnecessary and, as arivess pointed out, is more concerned with your dislike for those around you than self-reflection. Your imitations of these people also make me think that you aren't very sympathetic and rather judgmental and immature. While it's understandable that you can be frustrated with people, this is, first and foremost, a community and you will have to deal with many people here, some with whom you will not see eye-to-eye. I worry that comments like the ones you made in your rant will affect the overall feeling of the community and the feelings of other members, as well.

A couple of smaller things: arivess made another good point, about your name. You don't have to put a ton of effort into it (mine is my two favourite animals) but the one that you have now is offensive. Although you may not care if you offend, people in the community do, and they ultimately decide where to place you, if anywhere at all. Chacusha also pointed out that a) it is difficult to tell when you're joking and, b) you contradict yourself. Thinking before you type and more emoticons may help solve the first problem. As for the second, maybe you were frustrated/excited when writing your application, maybe you're mistaken in thinking yourself calm, or maybe the contradiction arises from something else entirely. No matter where it stems from, recognition of, and an explanation for, the contradiction will make you come across as more genuine and make you easier to sort. While I personally see this as being a smaller problem than those I've listed above, a little explanation goes a long way in getting yourself sorted right the first time.

So, to sum up: lose the offensiveness, clear up the humour (which may, in fact, be causing us to think you're being offensive when that's not your intention) and explain the parts of your personality that seem to contradict each other. I'd like to see the thoughtfulness and humour demonstrated in the second half of your application consistent throughout the entire thing before I give you a vote.

My main impression from your application is that you are strongly opinionated, a hard worker, brash, and outspoken. You don't seem to like stereotypes much and make a point of walking a path that is anti-mainstream. The fact that you say you are a loner and a quiet person is almost contradictory with the personality displayed--though, of course, how a person acts in real life is always a bit different than how they act on the internet. These traits are more Soldier-esque to me than Dragoon.

However, the overall tone of this application makes me wonder if you would even enjoy being a part of this community to begin with. The point of this community is for fans of the final fantasy series to come together despite differences of opinion, personalities, nationalities, and the like. Divisive behavior that alienates fellow members is not the goal here. I understand and even sympathize with a few of the points you make, certainly I also believe in personal responsibility and the importance of hard work, and I also enjoy a dry sense of humor. I just don't know if your intent in filling the application was because you want to join the community or you want to make a statement.

First off, I must commend the level-headed and rational way the other members of ff_land have dealt with the unique qualities of your application. This particular issue has never really come up in such a big way, so I respect my fellow ff_landers for such a thoughtful and careful response.

They are some of the most diverse, friendly, caring and open people I've shared a community with. Just have a look at the kind and serious responses Breyzy and Yin have given you.

With this in mind, looking at the contrasting tone of your application...

Well, I don't believe that I could knowingly inflict you on a team now that your arrogance, lack of team spirit, blatant sexism and misogyny are on parade here.

I believe that I am a fair and open-minded person, and difference of opinion and situation is something to be accepted and expected. But my tolerance ends where intolerance begins and I'm afraid that our values system do not seem to align.

Respect. Empathy. Tolerance. Acceptance. Both as a leader and a team member, I find these are qualities that help cohesiveness, the sense of community and the results obtained by a given team. It's part of being a team player, which is a significant aspect of the landcomm.

I don't see any of that in your application, and frankly I'm not even sure what you hope to gain from getting stamped. Is there a particular aspect of the landcomm that you were interested in?

Look, maybe you're not like how you've come across. Maybe you're the most awesome person ever and we're losing someone who would have valuable contributions to the landcomm. Looking at the way you've agitated the members, I can't help but feel that any benefits you could bring to your team or the community would be quickly subsumed by the hostile environment you introduce and the wank you cause.

One last thing.



Sometimes, the reason you hate something is the reason others will like it.

I am sorry to do this but seeing as how many people felt offended after reading your application and thanks to how many "No Vote" votes you got, I must close your application. You already got a lot of votes and it seems we're nowhere near stamping you. You can always re-apply again, mention that you got "no vote" comments but you'd like to join the community. You must re-write your application before posting again so people can actually sort you. Nothing will change if you post the same application once again. If you're planning to re-apply, please keep in mind all the comments you got and try to keep people's opinion in mind. I understand it's your personality not to care if you offend anyone but in this community, each needs to be nice and respectful to each other. I respect your honestly about your opinions but please keep in mind some people might get really offended if you're being harsh about it. If you're up to that, we'd love to see you join one of our communities and see you around.

However, if you're only interested in being sorted rather than playing games and having discussions with us here, you can always join a Final Fantasy rating community (I can refer you to one if you'd like). They have more themes and you're don't have to play in teams with people.
