Personality Questions:

1) List and expand upon your three best traits / strengths. (These should be personality-related, not physical.)
Driven: Once I get started on something, there's no stopping me. I follow through 'til the end. If there's something I want bad enough, I pull out all the stops and go for it.
Analytical: I'm someone who rules with logic rather than their heart. I look at everything objectively and spend a lot of time dissecting information-- especially on the subject of things that interest me. I find motives and personalities fascinating, so I analyze people as well.
Loyal: It's not easy to gain my trust, but once you do, I am extremely loyal. For those few very close friends of mine, I'll go out of my way to do anything for them and stand by their side no matter what.

2) List and expand upon your three worst traits / weaknesses.
Critical: I have very high expectations, both for myself and others. While I'm twice as hard on myself, I can still be pretty harsh on other people.
Insensitive: Let's face it, I'm not the nicest person in the world. I don't usually hesitate to tell people things they may not want to hear but need to, and I've been told I can be pretty hurtful with things I say even thought it isn't my intention.
Cynical: I don't trust people by default-- I always assume someone has ulterior motives or something. It's just hard for me to believe people are genuine or honest with you anymore.

3) Rate yourself on the following traits by putting an 'X' in the box you think fits best. (E.g. if you are slightly more introverted than extroverted, put an 'X' in the second box.) Explain your choice as well.

Introverted [X] [ ] [ ] [ ] [ ] Extroverted
Explain: Definitely an introvert. Social gatherings exhaust me and I'm more constructive with my time when I'm alone.

Cheerful [ ] [ ] [X] [ ] [ ] Gloomy
Explain: I'm definitely not cheerful, but I wouldn't call myself gloomy either.

Leader [ ] [X] [ ] [ ] [ ] Supportive
Explain: I enjoy leading and I believe I'm good at it, but that doesn't mean it's the only position I'm capable of. So long as the person is competent, I'm perfectly fine with taking orders and following another.

Confident [ ] [ ] [X] [ ] [ ] Modest
Explain: I'm confident, but I don't go flaunting it around. On the other hand, I'm not afraid to lay my skills and whatnot on the table and tell people what I'm good at.

Reserved [X] [ ] [ ] [ ] [ ] Impulsive
Explain: Not sure how these are opposites, exactly, but like I said with the intro vs extro thing, I'm very much someone who keeps to themselves and prefers solitude.

Energetic [ ] [ ] [ ] [ ] [X] Calm
Explain: Although I have my moments, I'm mostly a very calm person.

Feminine [ ] [ ] [ ] [ ] [X] Masculine/Tomboyish
Explain: Feminine things and me do not mix. I wear male clothing and these personality quizzes I take online also tell me that I have a "masculine" personality.

4) Describe how you typically work in teams. Is it generally a good experience, or do you prefer working by yourself? Do you like to lead and make decisions or do you prefer to let others make decisions so that you can do the legwork? You may find it helpful to give an example of a team you worked on recently and how that went. I always prefer working by myself, but that doesn't mean I can't be a team player. I thoroughly enjoy being in a leadership position and in the event that I am, I always try to take everyone's opinions and suggestions into consideration.

5) What interests/hobbies do you have? How do you like to spend your free time? Video games, reading, writing, listening to music, hiking, jogging, ...watching Youtube.

6) Describe one to three careers you would find ideal, with a little explanation of why it appeals to you. Programming-- I have a mind for computers and figuring out how things work, so I think I would do well in that. Graphic design-- it's something I enjoy greatly and I'm told I have a good eye for making things look nice and eye-catching. Storm chasing-- I'm fascinated by weather (especially tornadoes) and I love to research things; it'd be a good combination of thrill and study.

FF Questions:

7) List one to three favorite Final Fantasy games and why you like them. Sequels/spin-offs/non-numbered/KH/Dissidia games are okay. Final Fantasy I, VI, and VIII. One was the first Final Fantasy games I played (I, GARLAND, WILL KNOCK YOU ALL DOWN.) and always holds a special place in my heart. I played both VI and VIII while I was still quite young and found the characters and plots of both to be very engaging and memorable. Even now, I can still think of certain scenes from both that just leave me feeling in awe.

8) List one to three of your favorite Final Fantasy characters and why: Seymour Guado, Zell Dincht, and Sabin Rene Figaro. Seymour is, unfortunately, one of the most unappreciated characters I know, but I find him to be one of the most fascinating, especially in a villain's role. He has a gorgeous character design and a very deep background and motive. More than people ever give him credit for. Zell is one of those characters I admire because he's so... outgoing, strong-willed and set in his ways. Honor and loyalty are two of the most important things to him and he goes out of his way to do what he thinks is the right thing. It bothers me that people never seem to look past his loud mouth. Sabin has the most wonderful sense of humor as well as a really admirable sense of justice and honor. His total loyalty to his brother and his country are really incredible, and he has some of my favorite limit breaks in the history of FF. Suplexing a train, anyone?

9) One to three characters you relate to (you may reuse answers from #8 if applicable) and why: Hm... Probably Squall Leonhart, Cid Raines, and Tseng. All three of them have a really strong sense of duty, they're logical, reserved, loyal to those that have earned it, cynical in some form or another, and extremely determined when they have a goal they want to meet.

10) The FF game you liked playing least: 12.

11) One to three FF characters you dislike and why: Rinoa Heartilly, Tifa Lockhart, and Yuna Braska. They're all weak-willed doormats, if you ask me.

12) Favorite weapon in a Final Fantasy game (either the name if you liked the name, or a picture if you liked the look of it, or a description if it had awesome stats/abilities): You know, I love Beatrix's Save the Queen. You can kind of see it here. Beatrix is a badass in her own right and another one of my favorite characters, and I've always wanted that sword she carries around. I like the red accents on it and how it kind of has a... woven look to the blade. I also love Fang's default spear (x). It's very intricate and looks like it would pack a punch.

13) Your favorite Final Fantasy summon (e.g. Ifrit, Carbuncle, Bahamut, etc.): Leviathan! I'll admit that I normally don't like water elementals, but Leviathan always has these beautiful (and very powerful!) attacks whenever I've seen it make an appearance.

14) Your favorite spell/ability/technique that can be learned in a Final Fantasy game (e.g. Esuna, Steal, special finishes/overdrives such as Tifa's Final Heaven limit break, etc.): ...Just one? Uh. I'll give you a few: Aero (is anyone surprised?), Jump, Ultima, Different Beat (Zell's Limit), Bum Rush (Sabin's Limit).

15) A Final Fantasy mini-game/sidequest you invested entirely too much time into: Mostly optional bosses, which meant spending far too much time level grinding. Oh, and the arena in the Gold Saucer in Final Fantasy VII! I spent... so many hours fighting in that damn thing.

16) Your favorite Cid: Cid Raines~.

17) Optional: Up to one class you think does not fit you, with reasoning why. Black Mage. I'm a... in the fray type of person and I would hate having to rely on magic. I'd rather rely on my own strength and abilities.

Your application reminds me of mine in many places! But one thing that stands out to me that's different from my app is that you're cynical and loyal. To me this makes me think of Dragoons. I also think it fits with other things you said -- you're more masculine than feminine, you're introverted, you're willing to relinquish leadership to follow a capable person. All this makes me think Dragoon.

MORE FFVIII FANS YES. Need our own coalition.

Erm, anyway, I see a pretty obvious Dragoon here from like ... basically everything. There's bits and pieces of Soldier too, primarily from relating to Soldier-like characters, but ... well, I just see more Dragoon. Your traits are very reminiscent of them, especially how you're insensitive and logical yet loyal -- matches very well with their description. Being introverted, more of a leader, reserved, calm, and confident without flaunting is definitely what I'd associate with them as well. I can see a mix of Soldier & Dragoon in your answer to #4, and the characters you relate to are more of the Soldier type as well, but ... yeah, I just get the general vibe for Dragoon much more. And Leviathan is win.

Great, I am amazing. I thought I posted and closed the window with my whole comment. Anyways, in short: I'd say Dragoon also. You're loyal, calm, reserved, introverted, tomboyish and cynical which reminds me of them. I also associate FF Dragoon with words driven or even critical.

Your app reminded me of a Solider in some parts, but because you're introverted, critical and cynical, I chose Dragoon in the end. Other traits fit well too; you're more masculine, logical, driven, the way you judge characters (analyzing them, a strong sense for justice and honor) and also your leadership-answer made me chose Dragoons. (:

You make me think of a Monk. I would have said Dragoon at first, but you've got a reservedness to you, and a bluntness that makes me think of Monk.

[identity profile] the-404-error.livejournal.com 2011-01-23 06:11 pm (UTC)(link)
I actually can see you as a traditional monk (the more quiet and contemplative type-- more like the traits they're associated with in real life), but considering the FF versions, I'll have to say Dragoon as well. You said yourself that you're more of a fray type of person, and Dragoons are the most consistently reserved and logical of the physical classes. Even the females are tomboyish, and as odd as it sounds, even your tone reminds me of them.

I think you're a Dragoon as well! You're driven, analytical, loyal, critical, cynical: those are all traits that can be associated with the Dragoon class to me. Most Dragoons are introverted; not overly cheerful *or* gloomy; fine with leading or following someone capable; confident without flaunting it; reserved; calm; and masculine overall. Dragoons can be team players even though they often prefer working by themselves...and they wouldn't hesitate to lead if the opportunity were presented to them. Your application *reads* a lot like a Dragoon character to me, as odd as that sounds! XD

~Also...TSENG. ♥ I could really picture you being similar to him! XD

Woohoo! More VIII fans! :D

Dragoon. Calm, Reserved, an Introverted leader type who's loyal and driven to get the job done? What other class is there for you? :p They don't ten to be moody or cheerful to either extreme and they're not the sort who'd brag about their skills either.

Your cynicism, gruffness, calmness bring to mind many of those awesome dragoons to grace the series, such as Kain, Kimarhi and even Fang.

Also, Leviathan <3

Is it bad that I figured I'd probably be voting you as a Dragoon even before I finished reading your application? XD Many of them are driven and loyal characters, and mostly prefer solitude. As a whole I've always thought of them as pretty levelheaded and grounded people who carry themselves well, and so I think that suits you pretty wonderfully.

SORTED: DRAGOON
