Re-stamp application: Now if I don't just feel awkward?

Personality Questions:
1) Name (and elaborate on) three traits of yours that you consider both a strength AND a weakness.

-Stubbornness: My stubbornness has definitely played a part in me becoming the person I am today. Peer pressure is something that I've felt only a few rare times. This is probably largely because I'm too insistent on making sure that I stay my own individual to follow what the crowds say I should be doing. At the same time while I do tend to attribute stubbornness as my way to stay individual I know that I can and often do take it too far. I can be downright contrary when I choose to be. Often when my mind is made up it's nearly impossible to change my mind, not that it hasn't happened it's just not very common. That's typically the case even when I'm wrong, which isn't exactly a positive attribute is it?

-Talkative: I can be a downright chatterbox. I typically have a lot to say about things and for the most part I have no problem saying it. (Online at least, offline it's a different story.) I typically feel that by being talkative and the like it makes me just a smidge more approachable. However, I tend to babble when I'm nervous. Which has proven to by my downfall at more than one job interview in the past.

-Imaginative: My imagination is still pretty potent even though I'm supposed to be a "mature grown up" by now. I'm super at coming up with random ideas that are typically pretty awesome. (Unfortunately I tend to be too lazy to follow through with them) At the same time, living half in a dream world means that I tend to get lost in real life all the time. When I was younger my friends realized that I needed someone to take the bus with me most of the time, because otherwise I'd be too out of it to actually get to where I needed to be going. (I used to get lost all the time. Typically even when it's a trip that I'd taken dozens of times before.) So while I love how I can come up with some great ideas, I hate that I tend to be way too much of a space cadet to get stuff done.

2) What kind of person do you have the most difficulty getting along with? Describe in detail and explain why.
I'd like to think that I can get along with almost anyone; however, even I have people that I just can't seem to mesh with. A good example would be someone who's constantly pessimistic, has bad manners, and is just generally unpleasant.
I can understand being in a bad mood. I tend to be pretty optimistic myself, but even I've struggled with depression off and on over the years. Still there's nothing that wears at me more than someone who's always going on about how: nothing ever turns out right, they don't deserve to be happy, everything good always ends so why start, and things of that nature.
Bad manners I think is pretty easy to figure out. Chew with your mouth closed, say please/thank you/excuse me, put the toilet seat down, shut the door when you go to the bathroom, and just little things like that. My last roommate couldn't master any of these things and it just drove me nuts until I finally just had to move out.

3) Which FF world (if any) would you live in and why? I think Bodhum is my current ideal FF-location as a whole so I'd say XIII. The weather is perfect, there's technology, plenty of stores, and all in all it looks like a comfortable place to live where most people can be happy. We're just going to ignore what happened at the end of XIII for this question.

4) Describe and expand upon three things you absolutely need in order to be happy. They can be small things that you need everyday or future things you need to have eventually in order to feel fulfilled. My laptop, nourishment, and love.
My laptop: While I could get by without it, my current life would be kind of sad without access to friends, livejournal, and things of that nature.
Nourishment: Cliche as it might be, I don't really do well if I'm always hungry/thirsty. I tend to get light headed and feel sick. So I consider it a requirement.
Love: I might joke about being a hermit, but I need people. Maybe not a whole lot of people, but at least a couple of people anyway. Lately my kid brother has made sure to give me a hug/kiss before he goes to school and when he gets home. There's just something about it that makes my days a little brighter and I think he knows this.

5) Spider-Man Decision: If you had to choose between saving two dozen innocent children and saving your best friend/significant other/person closest to you, which would you pick and why?
Spiderman ultimately saved both, so why can't I? I know that's not technically an answer, but the idea of not saving either option just makes my heart hurt.
I couldn't condemn my best friend/love interest to die for strangers, but I wouldn't feel right letting so many people die all because I was selfish and saved the one person closest to me instead.

6) Are there any traits you have that seem contradictory to each other (e.g. being both silly AND serious, or kind AND cold-hearted, or shy AND outgoing)?
Shy and Outgoing ironically. It might not show up so much online, but face to face interaction makes it painfully clear that I'm awkward in social circumstances. It does actually translate to online interaction too. I spent a good five+ minutes agonizing over going into a chatroom for a roleplay I'm planning on joining just yesterday. I actually had to have a friend encourage me to just go for it before I actually went into the room.

Calm and Energetic. I tend to have a very vibrant tone of voice, I know I do. Words to describe my typing are probably things like bubby and vivacious; however, for the most part I'm probably one of the most laid back people physically. While my face is as animated as my voice, the rest of me tends to be pretty chill. I mean, I can sit in one place pretty much all day and be fine with it. So I guess I tend to be inwardly energetic and outwardly calm? Does that make any sense?

Mature and Immature. I tend to act like an adult, because well.. I am one. I don't jump to conclusions very often, I know how to respect other people's choices and decisions even if I disagree, and I've learned that there's a time and a place for everything. At the same time I can still hold tiny little petty grudges for no reason and I caught myself snickering at dinner yesterday because my step-father kept saying "do do".

7) Do you "forgive and forget" easily? What kind of offenses would you find unforgivable and what would you be able to forgive, given that the person in question shows remorse? Typically I tend to be pretty good at the "forgive and forget" philosophy. I'd admit though that typically I can only forgive and forget so many times before I start having problems really forgiving people.
Is there anything I'd find unforgivable? Hm. Murder/Torture/Extreme forms of bodily harm I guess? Most everything else I could get over, but that's pretty much a deal breaker for me. Oh! Relationship wise I'd say cheating, but since I've never been in that sort of situation I can't say for sure.

8) From each of the following sets of adjectives mark ONE you think fits you the best (+) and ONE you think fits you the least (-), and expand on why you picked those.

SET 1: [ ] sympathetic [ ] adaptable [ ] wise [ ] caring [-] independent [+] happy
Explain: As I've mentioned before, I tend to be a little too head in the clouds to be fully independent. I get lost continuously, go sixteen hours without eating, or something else as equally ridiculous. Happy I think suits me, just because as a rule I'm pretty happy as long as I've got the simple things in life. I'm not exactly high maintenance.

SET 2: [-] complex [+] friendly [ ] confident [ ] proud [ ] witty [ ] mature
Explain: While I tend to be a lot of opposites, I'm also pretty transparent too so people typically don't seem to have a problem understanding me. I chose friendly, because as a rule I do try to be as open and approachable as I can. I like people and I hope for the most part most people like me too.

SET 3: [ ] patient [+] cheerful [ ] dignified [ ] ingenious [-] self-assertive [ ] reflective
Explain:
I can be a horrible doormat sometimes so self-assertive I am not. I've gotten a little better, but there was a time I'd wait until the street was absolutely clear before trying to cross the road. While I'm not always 100% pure cheer, I do try to remain positive and I try to keep those around me positive too. Which is admittedly sometimes way more effort than it's worth so sometimes I have to leave it off at keeping myself positive.

SET 4: [+] smart [ ] kind [ ] knowledgeable [ ] modest [ ] powerful [-] organized
Explain: My organization is always temporary. There are very few thing in my life that are fully neat. I typically just handwave my living space as "organized chaos", but half the time it's really jut chaos. I'm not very street smart admittedly, but book smarts I have fairly well. I'm also pretty quick to grasp new concepts.

SET 5: [+] sensible [ ] dependable [-] observant [ ] nervous [ ] helpful [ ] accepting
Explain: I can notice little details sometimes, but I'm typically way too head in the clouds to notice details too often. The bigger picture maybe, but if you want details I'm probably one of the last people you want to ask. Sensible is largely just me falling back on that horrible adult maturity thing. As much as I might want to blow money on things I like I know to save up instead. I'm pretty good at doing the "right thing" instead of the thing that I'd much rather do.

SET 6: [ ] giving [ ] calm [ ] brave [ ] clever [+] warm [-] spontaneous
Explain: I guess it'd partially depend on your idea of spontaneous? I mean spontaneous for me is silly little stuff like "Let's go get ice cream from sonic at 10 o'clock at night!" not "Let's go bungee jumping!" As a rule I tend to stick to the tried and true for most big things so I'm probably not the most spontaneous/exciting person ever. Warm tends to tie in back with that friendly thing I've already covered. I like making people feel welcome.

SET 7: [-] able [+] idealistic [ ] sentimental [ ] self-conscious [ ] shy [ ] relaxed
Explain: Breaking the mold, positive first this time. I'm idealistic and I know it. I like to hope for the best in people and probably view life through at least partially rose-colored glasses. I think it's part of the optimist in me, I'd rather hope for the best than expect the worst. As far as able goes, I tend to mess things up more than I actually achieve them. I'd also say that I'm lacking enough actually useful skill sets to be considered fully able.

SET 8: [ ] extroverted [+] silly [ ] logical [-] tense [ ] energetic [ ] trustworthy
Explain: If anything I'd say that I tend to be too relaxed. I don't tend to stress about things very often, not like a lot of the people I know do anyway. Silly works well enough. I like to joke and I like to have fun. I especially like to make bad puns, I tend to only pun when I'm in a certain mood though.

9) Name one to three occupations you DON'T think you would be able to do and why.
Military - I don't like to blindly follow orders. I'd much prefer an occupation where I could question things instead.
Phone-based jobs like Tech Support - I've done it before, but I find it really tiring and depressing. I don't like getting yelled at for things that aren't my fault and I came to hate the idea that my entire day was pretty much dictated by the ringing of a phone.
Factory jobs - With my attention span that could be pretty dangerous, don't you think? Having your head in the clouds isn't a good thing when you're in that sort of situation.

Optional Restamping Questions:
Any of these questions can be omitted, if you like.

10) Your current class: Thief

11) Why do you feel you were stamped incorrectly? Awkardly enough, I almost put thief as the class I thought didn't suit me in my original application. I don't remember why I didn't put that now though, because it's been a while. Personally I think I'd make a horrible thief in a game. Between my dreamy habits and my two left feet it'd be a really awkward career choice. Sure I'm friendly/cheerful/optimistic and I've got the smart mouth, but other than that where does it leave me? Friendly/cheerful/optimistic people are just as common in the Monks/White Mages/Black mages after all.

The longer I write something here the more I confuse even myself. So I think that's a sign to shush.

12) How much are you against or okay with the possibility of being stamped in the same class again, on a scale from 1-10 (1 = I would be completely fine with it; 10 = I would be very upset): 1. I love my team! I do! I just don't exactly feel like a thief. So I thought I'd do a restamp just to see. That way if I'm still a thief after this I'll know that it's really truly where I'm supposed to be. So by all means, if you think I'm a thief then stamp me as a thief! Honestly, I'm not sure why I'm even doing this any more. I like the team I'm on. So who cares if I don't actually feel like a thief? I'm also a little worried what my team mates will think of this re-stamp thing. Don't hate me guys! Please?

I remember voting you as a White Mage initially, and I'm sticking with that this time. They can be highly stubborn (Garnet, Rosa, Porom, Yuna with her decisions, even to the point of running off to Bevelle...), and imaginative is something I associate the most with them. They're almost always optimistic, but some struggle with depression (i.e. Garnet) regardless, and I can see them not getting along with similar people in that regard... and even saying that they get along with just about everyone otherwise. Out of all the classes, they're the ones I can most easily see listing love in question four, as well as wanting to save everyone for the same reasons. Pretty much everything you +ed and -ed in question 8 fits them as a whole perfectly as well.

I was considering Soldiers, Monks, and Black Mages briefly, but they're all more independent. The Soldiers and BM are more organized and likely to pick one side over the other in the spiderman decision (as well as less cheerful overall when they're all added and rounded together), the Monks more spontaneous, etc...

I know that you've been looking at the restamping for a while, and it takes courage to come out and say, "I don't think I quite fit with my allocated Class". Major props to you, and I would be sorry to see any hold this against you.

Knowing you a little better, and using the additional answers on the restamping application, I can see why Thief might not have been the best class for you. You strike me as a more dreamy type of individual, and your calmness AND energy bring to mind more the White Mage class than Thief.

Stubbornness is a trait I do associate with White Mages - just have a look at the grit shown by Yuna, Aerith, or Porom. They set about a course of action, and they saw it through to the end, no matter what it took.

Cheerfulness and talkativeness, as you mentioned above, aren't just relegated to Thief. Once again, Aerith is a talker (and also strikes me as clam/energetic), and sometimes you just wish Hope would stop repeating what we already know. Still love the kid, though.

Like [livejournal.com profile] the_404_error mentioned, I too associate strong creativity with the White Mage class. I also think that 'save everybody' is a typical White Mage answer to the Spiderman Question. :3

tl;dr - my vote goes to White Mage, and I hope that you find yourself more at home there! Best of luck.

I can definitely see you as either a Monk, a Soldier, or an awesome fit to one of the Mage teams (and I can definitely see why you were originally placed in the Thief class as well: you have elements/characteristics of a lot of of the classes in your application, so narrowing it down to one is kind of hard! ♥)...but, I think I'm in agreement with the two voters before me! The more I read over your application, the more I can picture you as a White Mage.

You're stubborn and imaginative, which are traits I can definitely associate with members of the White Mage team (characters like Yuna, Garnet, Rosa, Porom, Aria, and Hope all showcase those traits at some point or another in their respective games). I can also see quite a few of the White Mage characters being described as talkative even though that's not what they're known as overall. White Mage characters like Aerith, Vanille, and even Prishe (who can be both a Monk and a White Mage depending on how you view her!) aren't exactly non-talkative, at any rate! Like you, I think most White Mage characters tend to get along well with just about most people (although I could picture them having harder times with people who are constantly depressive or who have bad manners). I could even picture White Mages having similar needs to your own in regards to things that make them happy too (My laptop, nourishment, and love: nourishment and love are easy to figure out, but your reasoning for picking your laptop seems like reasoning I could picture a White Mage using too, since you mentioned it connecting you to friends!).

Your Spider-Man answer seems *really* fitting for the White Mages (the idea of not saving either option just makes my heart hurt), since I think most of the characters that would fall into that class would try their hardest to save both options as well. I could picture a lot of the White Mage characters having the same contradictory traits you mentioned having also. White Mages like Aerith, Yuna, and Vanille are both shy *and* outgoing depending on the games they're in or situations they're facing, and many of them can be both calm and energetic as well as mature and immature depending on the scenario they're in. I can also picture many of the White Mage characters falling more into a "forgive and forget" philosophy.

Most of the White Mage characters in the FF series aren't fully independent or super self-assertive, and many of them (with just a few exceptions) are relatively optimistic and happy overall! Most White Mages are also friendly, cheerful, smart, sensible, warm, idealistic, and can have their silly moments. I'm not entirely sure I could picture any of the White Mage characters liking a military job or a job where they would be yelled at for things that weren't their faults all day either. ...So, all-in-all, I think White Mage would be a really good fit for you! ♥

BAAAAAAAAAW my first thought was "WAAAAAAH SHE HATES ME DID I DO SOMETHING WROOONG?" >.>

I do agree you might fit better in something else, though, especially if you feel that way yourself. Not in a I don't want you here way, I mean, but a lot of the times I felt like you were more magey than thiefy. You're not as... flaily? Okay, no one else was really as flaily as me anyway.

I'd also go with White Mage for your re-stamp. You gave off that feeling even in the Thief comm, so it might be more fitting for you. I still don't think you were entirely misplaced, though, because a lot of the things you described for yourself, I feel applies to me too, but then again, I originally thought I'd be White Mage. *coughs*

I think, as Breyzy mentioned, your Spider-Man answer is very white mage. Mysti and I were kinda discussing that yesterday actually. >.>; About how it seems like White Mages are more "I'll save everyone!" and Thieves are more like... "I'll go to any length to protect the people close to me." Your kind of refusal to choose one way or another is definitely less thiefy.

That said, though, I'll be sad seeing you go. It was good having you!

O-kay. During your original application I remember having a hard time deciding between Thief and White Mage for you, and - damn, just so you know, it's still hard. But I think stubbornness is also a White Mage trait even if it's not as obvious (they don't give up even if the world is against them). I think your answer to the Spider-man Decision is also very White Mage in that you want to save everyone. I also think being a doormat - or at least acting more like one - tends to be more White Mage than Thief - if anything, thieves tend to be more assertive and outspoken than White Mages, who seem content to go with the flow unless it upsets them, in which case they get very stubborn. White Mages are also more idealistic than practical, I guess.

I've really always thought of you as being a White Mage - caring and dreamy and cheerful. Not quite independent or outspoken enough to be a thief or a black mage (though I do get both of those vibes from you in lesser amounts). Plus I can see you meshing with the lovely mages very well, and they could definitely use a dose of your energy and chattiness!

[identity profile] breyzyyin.livejournal.com 2011-05-09 01:59 am (UTC)(link)
I can still see some Thief in you from some of your traits...although I kept thinking you'd make an awesome Monk or Soldier (especially considering characters such as Luso, Zack, Tidus, and Luneth who fall into that category) at times too when reading your application. In the end though, after reading all of the rather good reasoning for voting it...I think I'm going to have to agree with a White Mage vote for you this time around too as I could see you fitting well into the Job Class overall. :)

Stubbornness and persistence is a trait that many White Mage characters have in common (Sara Altney, Refia, and Aria in FFIII were very stubborn...as were Porom and Rosa in FFIV, Aerith from FFVII, Garnet and Eiko in FFIX, Yuna in FFX, Prishe in FFXI, Penelo in FFXII, and Vanille in FFXIII). Quite a few of them can be rather talkative at times too (Refia, Sara Altney, Aerith, Vanille, Prishe, Penelo, and Eiko), and they can also be highly imaginative as well (Aerith, Aria, Refia, Garnet, Eiko, Yuna, Penelo, Vanille, and Hope). Many White Mage characters are capable of getting along with just about anyone...although I could see them having problems with people who are perhaps constantly pessimistic, have bad manners, or are just overall unpleasant to be around (Refia often comments on people she views as being so quite emphatically, Porom often chastises her brother for what she considers to be bad manners, Eiko will sometimes mention when she doesn't like how someone is acting, and Penelo did on occasion too). I could picture White Mage characters perhaps wanting to live in a place that "looks like a comfortable place to live where most people can be happy" as well.

I could see many White Mage characters saying they couldn't live without love in some form either (White Mage characters tend to value their friends and family greatly...as is illustrated by characters such as Alma and Ovelia from Final Fantasy Tactics, Shirma from Final Fantasy Fables, Hope, Vanille, Garnet, Yuna, Eiko, Rosa, Porom, Refia, and Sara Altney). Honestly, as was mentioned before...your answer to the "Spider-Man" question also strikes me as very White Mage-esque as I could see them being one of the job classes where characters would typically try to choose to save everyone if they were able to do so.

White Mages can be shy AND outgoing--it really just depends on their overall personality and situations at hand (there are more reserved White Mages such as Yuna and Aria at times, but on the other hand you also have White Mages such as Prishe, Refia, and Vanille who can be fairly outgoing). They can also be either calm or energetic depending on circumstances too, and a mixture of mature and immature at times as well. They also tend to be more along the lines of "forgive and forget" too--though there are some things that they might find unforgivable (mostly falling into the categories you listed for that).

Many White Mage characters can be pretty happy overall, though they sometimes might not be the most independent (though that also fits their Job Class too--as it is a squishy Mage job geared towards helping to keep others alive and healthy). Some of the characters in this group can be somewhat transparent (it sort of depends on which character though), and most tend to be exceedingly friendly and supportive. Sometimes they might not be the most self-assertive characters in the world (again, depends), but they tend to be more cheerful and hopeful about things. They can be rather smart and sensible (as White Mage characters such as Leonora, Porom, and Minwu showcase), though a few are prone to daydreaming and being somewhat unorganized at times. I could see most White Mages fitting into your idea of being spontaneous overall, and they definitely tend to be a rather warm bunch when it comes to their dealings with others. White Mage characters also tend to be rather idealistic too, and quite a few of them do seem to have a rather silly and playful side to their personalities as well. ♥

After reading all of this, you scream White Mage to me. Like, if someone made you cry, I'm pretty sure your tears would be rainbows. Your + -'s sealed it for me. The happy, warm, not always observant just seems like a perfect white mage.

WELL! From what I've read above in your App, and from all the previous comments. I'd have to say that I'm going with White Mage as well. For all the reasons listed above, such as

your calmness AND energy
caring and dreamy and cheerful
Stubbornness and persistence is a trait that many White Mage characters have in common

etc.

I hope you find a new comfortable home here! :D

Your icon makes me want to hug you and give you cookies! Don't be shy!

(I'm not going to go back and check what I stamped you as last time - or if I did - because I want this to be a clean slate.)

After reading through your responses, my first instinct for you is White Mage come play with us!, but it's mostly on the principle that your responses don't really fit you in anywhere else. I certainly don't mean that in a bad way, either.

I think the fact that you described yourself as "imaginative", slipping away into daydreams instead of being mired in reality. There's great concern for others put ahead of yourself, and yet you seem incredibly introverted. There's nothing wrong with being a little daydreamy, until you look up and find yourself somewhere you shouldn't be.

I'm not very good at these stamping things myself, I don't like telling people things about themselves, but I do hope you're happy with your result. ♥

Everyone had something to add in response to this app, I feel quite terrible about not being able to single out something unique within the app itself that wasn't already covered (the Spider-Man decision and points about assertiveness stood out the most to me personally as being more of White Mage than Thief responses). If it helps, I do recall seeing your style of writing for Rinoa while the Turks RP was going on -- both IC and OOC, I really thought your voice was more of a magey one than a thiefy one, FF-wise. It sounds like you do love the thiefy lot but don't feel *quite* like it fits you best; hopefully that feeling will be different with the White Mages, where it seems most folks are voting you towards :)
