Personality Questions:

1) List and expand upon your three best traits / strengths. (These should be personality-related, not physical.)
o1.) active: I like doing things. I'm never one to stand in the back and just let things happen. I do believe you can change things if you just (actively) do your best to do so.
o2.) helpful: I usually put others before myself and try to help them... be it with advice or doing work for them. I might even confront someone if they can't and if I think it's necessary to help them (though I only do that with their approval).
o3.) hardworking: I always do my best and I can work concentrated for a long time (;´Д`) I've been told I'm a quick thinker and worker too.

2) List and expand upon your three worst traits / weaknesses.
o1.) overthinking things: I sometimes think too much; to a point where others' problems become my own or I might not be able to sleep because I think too much about life and it's meaning.
o2.) worrying: I worry a lot... "Is my work good enough? Was I able to help? Did someone misunderstand something I said today?" for example. Also, if I don't hear from someoneone for a few weeks, I always worry they might not like me anymore.
o3.) overly critical (when it comes to work): I pay a lot of attention to little details and, especially when working in a team, I don't like it when people don't do the same. I usually criticize a lot because I always think "we could do better if we change this and that".

3) Rate yourself on the following traits by putting an 'X' in the box you think fits best. (E.g. if you are slightly more introverted than extroverted, put an 'X' in the second box.) Explain your choice as well.

Introverted [ ] [ ] [X] [ ] [ ] Extroverted
Explain: There are times when I love to go out and to meet new people as well as spend times with those I know well. But there are also times when I won't go out at all and just spend time alone and whenever someone asks me if I want to do something with them I'll just say "no"...

Cheerful [ ] [X] [ ] [ ] [ ] Gloomy
Explain: I'm usually cheerful! I like laughing (especially about stupid jokes), cheering others up etc. But sometimes (these are usually my introverted times...) I'm gloomy and "the world is a bad place"... (;´Д`)

Leader [ ] [X] [ ] [ ] [ ] Supportive
Explain: I don't take orders well so I'm definitely more of a leader, but others tell me I'm a good leader because I listen to others' opinions as well and can give up parts of my "leader-position" if someone is better suited for it.

Confident [ ] [ ] [X] [ ] [ ] Modest
Explain: I'm working on becoming more confident at the moment. There was a time when I wouldn't find a strong point/talent at all, and though I still believe my weak points outweight them, at least I am confident about some of my strong points now.

Reserved [X] [ ] [ ] [ ] [ ] Impulsive
Explain: As I said before, I often even overthink things so I'm definitely not impulsive...

Energetic [ ] [ ] [X] [ ] [ ] Calm
Explain: It depends on who I'm with! With some of my friends I am almost hyper, with others I am rather calm. In short: I can be both, I guess...

Feminine [ ] [ ] [X] [ ] [ ] Masculine/Tomboyish
Explain: I don't fit into those categories I think... I can't say I don't like anything feminine but I don't like everything that would be rather tomboyish either.

4) Describe how you typically work in teams. Is it generally a good experience, or do you prefer working by yourself? Do you like to lead and make decisions or do you prefer to let others make decisions so that you can do the legwork? You may find it helpful to give an example of a team you worked on recently and how that went. As long as the team is hardworking and open to constructive criticism, it can be so much fun and the end result would be better! I do like to lead though (as I said in my leader/supportive-answer). I also don't like to just depend on others and always need to give my opinion about things at least (;´Д`)

5) What interests/hobbies do you have? How do you like to spend your free time? My main interest would be music! I love singing, I sometimes play the piano and try to teach myself how to play the ocarina too. Something else I like to do is playing video games and learning about things that I am interested in (like languages and other cultures). I also like reading, writing and running.

6) Describe one to three careers you would find ideal, with a little explanation of why it appeals to you.
Musician, though I know that's not really an option - it's just that I share my thoughts and feelings through music and it's what I'd like to do the most, but as a career it is too risky because it's hard to earn enough (> _ <)
Professor/university lecturer, I know this is a tough goal (;´Д`) but I love teaching people who want to learn (and everyone tells me I'm really good at explaining/teaching), and the good thing about being at the university is that you yourself can continue to learn and research there.
The third one would be interior design; it's hard to explain why but I find it fascinating.

FF Questions:

7) List one to three favorite Final Fantasy games and why you like them. Sequels/spin-offs/non-numbered/KH/Dissidia games are okay. My favorite game would be XII. I loved the characters and the setting as well as the fighting system and how you could choose everything - what armor and weapons the characters should wear, who should cast spells, etc.
Another one is VII because of the story. There were a lot of surprise-moments and the world itself was fantastic, too. This is also the reason why I'd count Crisis Core to my favorites - it gives more insight to the background-story of VII.

8) List one to three of your favorite Final Fantasy characters and why: (It's hard to choose, but) Fran because she's mysterious, strong and independent. In her relationship with Balthier, I never thought she was just following him/taking orders but rather that she stayed because she wants to.
Basch - I have to admit I didn't like him at first but when I played the game again I realized that there's more to his character than what I first thought and that he's not just the shiny loyal knight. I found his story (and the implied change he went through, as it seems that he hasn't always been this loyal) very interesting.
The third one would be Hope; at first I really disliked him because he seemed like such a whiny brat to me (;´Д`) but I liked his change during the game. I thought it was very understandable that, especially at his age, he would want revenge for the death of his mother and that he wouldn't be able to understand her motifs just yet. He really grew during the game imo.

9) One to three characters you relate to (you may reuse answers from #8 if applicable) and why: Vanille because she is rather cheerful... but has deep thoughts that trouble her. She also likes to help and is rather loyal, yet doesn't (at least at the beginning) voice her thoughts as much as she should to, imo.

10) The FF game you liked playing least: IX and X.

11) One to three FF characters you dislike and why: There's only one characer I really dislike - Yuna Braska. She seemed very stereotypical girly-ish to me... and she just accepted her fate without trying to search for a way out; even when Tidus tried to offer different options later she seemed a bit well, it won't change anything anyway to me.

12) Favorite weapon in a Final Fantasy game (either the name if you liked the name, or a picture if you liked the look of it, or a description if it had awesome stats/abilities): I love the Buster Sword because it is used as a symbol for many things in Crisis Core (and VII).

13) Your favorite Final Fantasy summon (e.g. Ifrit, Carbuncle, Bahamut, etc.): Even though I didn't like X too much I loved Anima because it was a symbol for many things and I just liked the dark element it brought to the game. I also like Bahamut because it is, again, rather dark-ish and strong. (;´Д`)

14) Your favorite spell/ability/technique that can be learned in a Final Fantasy game (e.g. Esuna, Steal, special finishes/overdrives such as Tifa's Final Heaven limit break, etc.): Firaga/Fire3. Fire is my favorite element so I usually use fire spells if possible... of course the strongest one would be my favorite, hehe. For special overdrives, I really liked Penelo's quickenings in XII because... they're pretty? Haha.

15) A Final Fantasy mini-game/sidequest you invested entirely too much time into: To be honest I never spend much time on sidequests...(^^;

16) Your favorite Cid: Cid Highwind. :D

17) Optional: Up to one class you think does not fit you, with reasoning why. -

I kept on going back to Thief. Cheerful, more of a leader that listens to others, are neither overly masculine nor feminine... Some of them, like Locke (... and I guess Shadow and Amarant since they're counted as them here) are less impulsive than some of the other characters in this type. Your reason for disliking Yuna also seems to be a sentiment they'd share in an odd way, as they usually are willing to take risks for a better outcome. (i.e. steal for the sake of helping the poor being the obvious one) The general way you approach situations and teamwork reminds me of them as well.

I am thinking about Thief for you too! Like it's been mentioned, you're cheerful, between energetic and calm (not all the thieves are energetic), between feminine and tomboyish, between confident and modest, not an exact introverted but not an extrovert also, which reminds me a lot of some thief but not the Rikku-type ones. They're active and since they're thief, they need to think quickly too.

I'm going to say Soldier. Your leader qualities made me think Soldier, and I think there are some soldier characters that tend to be more reluctant/reserved than the typical rush-in-and-fight kind (e.g. Squall). You said you're active and hardworking, which makes me think soldier as well. Some things made me think black mage, though, like wanting to be a professor.

I can definitely see where the Soldier vote is coming from, but I think you'd fit the Thief job class really well! You're active, helpful, hardworking, and pay attention to little details...which are traits I tend to associate the most with Thief characters. Some the Thief characters, like Vaan, are more in-between introverted/extroverted and calm. They're usually cheerful; can be good leaders because they're usually willing to listen to others; in-between confident/modest; and many are in-between the feminine/masculine archetypes. Thief characters like their opinions to be heard and seem to find teamwork fun...and I can just sort of see them in the overall "tone" of your application. :)

Thief. Cheerful, someone who leads but listens too, and balanced between masculine and feminine. I really like the mention [livejournal.com profile] breyzyyin gave to Vaan as I think that's a good example of someone with a personality similar to yours. Vaan is a leader of sorts, but one who's good at listening to what other people have to say. He's not afraid to listen to advice from his team mates (something I noticed especially in Revenant Wings).

You're way too proactive to be a thief. I'm saying soldier.

I love both votes you're getting, but I think I like Thief a little bit more for you. Although there are some cheerful soldiers (read: Zack), there's just something more... hm. Spirited about you? That makes me think of a Thief. Not all are impulsive (Locke and the Ninja-types are a good example), a leader that listens... Your outlook on teamwork seemed like a Thief-type outlook to me as well. And I agree totally about Yuna!

I really like Thief for you! You're cheerful and often cheer others up, which reminds me of quite a few thieves across the various games, and they tend to be neither extremely feminine nor masculine. Quite a few of them, I think, don't take orders well.

[identity profile] crescent-dreams.livejournal.com 2011-01-25 11:50 pm (UTC)(link)
I definitely see where soldier is coming from, especially from some of your more moderate traits, but ultimately too many aspects of your personality make me think you'd fit in to the thief class slightly better. I almost picture you as a cross between a thief like Locke and Vaan. I don't really want to go in to too much detail because I think it will be repeating things that have already been mentioned.

I won't be helping your vote come to an end by saying I think you're better a Soldier. I think I came to this because oh my god you remind me so badly of Zack. You're an overly good person, you work hard, and you're kind. But you're also critical and think a lot about what it takes to be a good person and seem to be auto-correcting yourself to that end. Edgar also comes to mind when I think of your overall application. Vanille as your most related character as being cheery with dark thoughts also rings true for Zack for me, and it seems, like a soldier, you know where your strengths and weaknesses lie, and seem to strive to make sure they're not too apparent.

I don't know how much I'll be helping with this vote, but I'm going to have to go for Soldier too! A lot of the things other people have said really ring true; especially the fact that you have a nice mixture of calmness and a strong sense of leadership.

SORTED: THIEF
