Personality Questions:

1) List and expand upon your three best traits / strengths. (These should be personality-related, not physical.)

Funny/Witty - Probably my best quality. I love laughing and making people laugh, and I've been told many times that I have a natural knack for humor (apparently I have good comedic timing and I'm good at impressions).
Passionate - When I feel strongly about something, you'll know it. Example-- I mean, whether it's a social/political cause, a song, or even just a video game character (HA. OF COURSE YOU KNOW I'M PASSIONATE ABOUT THAT CONSIDERING I'M FILLING THIS OUT)… when I'm into something, I'm into something, and I can discuss it length and with conviction.
Loyal - to my friends and loved ones, I am very loyal. Unless you do something really terrible to me, I'll stand by you, refrain from judging you in any way, and support you (as long as you're not doing anything completely batsh*t crazy).

2) List and expand upon your three worst traits / weaknesses.

Procrastinator - OH BOY. The worst by far. In college I seriously COULD NOT write a paper unless it was the night before it was due-- I'm that sort of person. I guess I work relatively well under pressure; however the flaw in this is that I apparently need to work under pressure, or else I don't work well at all. The worst part is if I don't have a deadline for something, who knows when it's going to get done (this application is one example. I've had it sitting on my Mac for weeks). I'm always full of ideas and things that I want to do; actually doing it is another story.
Over-emotional - I'm a Taurus, and though I'm not quite sure I believe in astrology, one thing I can say is that I'm pretty aligned with the Taurus description in terms of emotions. I tend to wear my heart on my sleeve, and I also have a crazy temper, though it takes a while to get me going. I can absorb things for a while and let them rest under the surface, but once I finally get pushed to the breaking point… it's not pretty.
Over-analytical - I can work myself up pretty good just worrying about things and thinking way too hard about things people say and do. Someone can give me a compliment, and I'll pick it apart in my mind trying to figure out if it's something backhanded or not. Yeah. I guess "paranoid" would be a good negative trait for me as well. o_O;

I also never shut up. Seriously, I mean, I'm sure my responses on this application are already WAY too verbose and in-depth than would EVER be necessary.

3) Rate yourself on the following traits by putting an 'X' in the box you think fits best. (E.g. if you are slightly more introverted than extroverted, put an 'X' in the second box.) Explain your choice as well.

Introverted [ ] [ ] [X] [ ] [ ] Extroverted
Explain:
I'm kind of in the middle. I have days where I'm really not into the whole "exuberant contact with other people" thing, but then again I'm pretty good at always being friendly/talkative/receptive to meeting new people and carrying on conversation (though I kind of hate meaningless small talk).

Cheerful [ ] [ ] [X] [ ] [ ] Gloomy
Explain:
Also in the middle. I can be a mope and a lump but I can also be incredibly bright and positive and happy. Depends on my mood.

Reserved [ ] [ ] [ ] [X] [ ] Impulsive
Explain:
When I get thoughts and ideas, I tend to act on them, despite whether or not it's actually a good idea. So I would say that I lean more towards impulsive.

Energetic [ ] [ ] [ ] [X ] [ ] Calm
Explain:
So I can be friendly and funny and talkative but I'm definitely not the energetic and hyper type… I'd rather just be chill and avoid drawing attention to myself/stay low-key if I can.

Feminine [ ] [ ] [ ] [ ] [X] Masculine/Tomboyish
Explain:
I've definitely been what most would consider a tomboy my entire life. To this day, the majority of my friends are male, and I feel more comfortable being myself around men-- probably because it's often really hard for me to identify with being female/feminine. It's just not me-- I feel uncomfortable around most other females because I feel like I just don't fit in with them. This is all very interesting to me as I've gotten older, because I'm straight, and I've been in a serious relationship (with a man) for almost three years. Who knows... I feel like I'm a walking Gender Studies class or something.

Grudge-holding [ ] [ ] [X] [ ] [ ] Forgiving
Explain:
This is difficult. I try to see all sides of things, despite how difficult it may be. There have been several people who've seriously betrayed me/violated our friendship and I've still tried to see their side of it… even though I won't talk to some of those people anymore. However, I've also been betrayed by people who I've forgiven, and our relationships are stronger than ever; also, I would be a hypocritical liar if I said I haven't done really shitty things to other people as well. So I can't judge TOO much… I try to follow a lot of Buddhist ideas and keep myself free of anger/grudges/hate/etc and try to show compassion and understanding to my fellow humans… but… I'd be lying if I said there's people I don't just HATE, who are just terrible people to a level I can never understand. BUT. I am also a firm believer that karma will come back around and get them. So yeah. I guess I'm kind of in the middle.

4) Describe how you typically work in teams. Is it generally a good experience, or do you prefer working by yourself? Do you like to lead and make decisions or do you prefer to let others make decisions so that you can do the legwork? You may find it helpful to give an example of a team you worked on recently and how that went.
I love working in teams! I haven't worked on a project with a team in quite a long time. Probably the best example would have been when I was in the Science Olympics in junior high (yes, I was always a nerd, and proud). I do enjoying leading, but I also enjoy contributing to the fruition of someone else's ideas. I love being creative in groups and collaborating with others on projects--provided they work as hard as I do -_-;

5) Spider-Man Decision: If you had to choose between saving two dozen innocent children and saving your best friend/significant other/person closest to you, which would you pick and why?
Well yeah, gonna go with the person closest to me. Perhaps it's selfish, but I think it just might be human nature-- I can't imagine many other people who would choose otherwise. I would still try to save the children though, after I saved my friend/significant other.

6) Your friend has had their feelings hurt and comes to you for consolation. What do you do? Let's say, two days later they come to you again still upset over the same issue. What would you do in that case?
I would talk to them and try to work it out-- I like to think that I'm a good listener and good at offering solutions or advice regarding problems that my friends have. I try to see all sides of a situation and offer a bit of logical perspective; but if the same problem keeps arising without resolution, I will admit when there is nothing else I can do or say. Sometimes it doesn't matter what advice you give a person-- if they don't utilize it or take a necessary action to change a situation, it doesn't mean a thing.

7) What interests/hobbies do you have? How do you like to spend your free time?
Writing. Of course. I've been writing since I was in elementary school-- I've dabbled in short stories and prose, but my main love is poetry. Recently I've gotten back into fanfiction, and I find that it's a REALLY fun writing exercise-- not to mention rewarding, considering how many people are out there in fandom-land waiting to discuss and comment. It's a fun little escape from the poetry I write (which is often highly personal and thus sometimes exhausting to write), not to mention a distraction from LIFE and my TERRIBLE JOB dealing with TERRIBLE PEOPLE-- oh sry, gettin' CARRIED AWAY
Reading. I was a literature major in college (along with creative writing) and for good reason. I havealways loved to read, I love bookstores (never getting an e-reader, that's for sure) and I've always got a rotating stack of new books waiting to be read… I can never catch up with myself in terms of books I'd like to read. I'm always searching for something good to read, because there are few things I love more than losing myself in an amazing story.
Drinking/Partying? Haha-- this is kind of a joke, but not really. I do like to go out and have a good time with friends-- any sleazy dive bar with a jukebox is heaven to me. Thankfully I live in New York City, so there is NEVER a shortage of things to do, experience, and explore. I figure I've got a couple years left in me to go out and have fun and still have it be acceptable… so if I get the opportunity to go a little wild, I'll do it.

8) Describe one to three careers you would find ideal, with a little explanation of why it appeals to you.
HAHAH WOW WELL NOT THE ONE I HAVE, MOST DEFINITELY
I would love to work in a career that integrates creative writing into social work-- as in, using creative writing as a means of art therapy. That, or being a creative writing teacher. Two things I know will never happen, because I can't afford graduate school (and probably never will -_-). But that would be my dream. There are few things that would probably make me as happy as helping someone embrace and hone a creative talent inside of them.
I'd also love to be a chef or work in a kitchen-- I looked into culinary schools for a while. I've always had FUN working in fast-paced, food-service-industry retail jobs (believe it or not) and I often miss it now that I've been stuck in stagnant, mind-numbingly boring office settings populated with cookie-cutter people for so many years. Oh and I also like food. A lot.

FF Questions:

9) List one to three favorite Final Fantasy games and why you like them. Sequels/spin-offs/non-numbered/KH/Dissidia games are okay.

Final Fantasy 6 is my favorite game ever. I LOVE THIS GAME SO MUCH I CAN BARELY TALK ABOUT IT. I first played it when I was probably about 11? 12? Something like that. I've probably played it about five times since then. The characters… OH THE CHARACTERS. And the WORLD OF RUIN. There's just SO MUCH in this game that is so emotional & inspiring and so much to learn and discover about these surprisingly in-depth characters. SO MUCH EMOTION IN THIS GAME INSPIRING SO MUCH EXUBERANT CAPS LOCK BECAUSE I JUST CAN'T CONTAIN MY LOVE FOR EVERYTHING THAT IS FF6. And I'm totally cosplaying as Locke at NYC ComicCon this year. CAN'T WAIT. This game had a huge effect on me back when I first played it, and it still has an effect on me now. On a related note, Locke/Celes is totally my fandom OTP. Few pairings come close. I still, to this DAY, get teary-eyed when I hear either the opera theme or the World of Ruin theme. CAN'T HANDLE IT.

Final Fantasy 4- another favorite. I think this may have been the first ever Final Fantasy game I played. It made me cry. IT WAS SO TRAGIC. I became so engrossed and enveloped in this game, and I didn't even OWN it-- I kept renting it over and over again and making my poor father pay exorbitant late fees to Blockbuster because I HAD TO FINISH IT. I love how FF4 is so medieval… it's like, straight up medieval fantasy, as opposed to the later games which all seemed to through in more modern/steampunky/bizarre elements. FF4 is just like… yo, we're just medieval and shit, even though we're going to the moon and shit. And I'm a total Cecil/Kain shipper. Whatevz. Even when I was like, a pre-teen first playing the game, I thought they were obviously meant for one another o_O;

Final Fantasy 7 - ok. This is kind of weird. I only played this game once, when I was 12 or 13, and I kind of hated it. I've recently gotten back into it and plan on playing it again soon, because I realize now that at the time I just didn't understand it. I really didn't. I didn't grasp how detailed and dark this game was, and all of the interconnections between the characters. Of course now there's all this other canon and related stuff like Crisis Core/Before Crisis/Advent Children etc and I'm just like… inundated with canon, but there are SO MANY great characters in FF7, and looking back on the game, I realize it was brilliant. The whole cyberpunk setting is also pretty awesome, considering it's was such a drastic break from the previous games.

10) List one to three of your favorite Final Fantasy characters and why:

Locke Cole (FF6)-- I already mentioned that I'm cosplaying as Locke for NY ComicCon this year, and for good reason. When I first played the game, my little pre-teen self totally fell in love with him and his chivalrous offers of protection for Terra/Celes, and also-- not gonna lie-- his in-game menu screen portrait was kinda hot. He's still one of my favorites, because come on, he's just all-around awesome, and he has one of the most MESSED UP BACKSTORIES EVER, and then you realize he's kind of crazy in a way because I mean really--who keeps their dead girlfriend in suspended animation in a basement--but anyway. That's kind of the beauty of his character. He comes across as this all-around-adjusted regular dude who's slightly flirtatious but still a gentleman-- and then you're smacked with this crazy backstory. Not to mention the whole "treasure hunter" title he's given himself is hilarious. And Locke when Celes comes into the picture… well I mean, that's just the best thing ever. (I could list more characters, but I think I'll just leave it at Locke because I'll go on and on forever)

11) One to three characters you relate to (you may reuse answers from #8 if applicable) and why:
Hmmm… this is a hard one. I could go with the embarrassing answer and be like "Squall, because when I played FF8 in eighth grade I was totally feeling that TEENAGE ANGST real bad too" but… no. This is a hard question, only because I feel like I've related to different characters at different times in my life, but I can't really pinpoint one right now. I definitely related to both Terra and Celes at times; also Edgar, for feeling trapped in a life of his own making (coin toss, anyone?).

12) The FF game you liked playing least:

FInal Fantasy Mystic Quest. SERIOUSLY WTF WAS THAT.

13) One to three FF characters you dislike and why:
Rinoa - I thought she was annoying.
Selphie - I thought she was annoying too.
Reno in Advent Children: Okay. No offense to anybody, because this is just my opinion-- BUT-- I am most definitely NOT a fan of the AC Reno. To me, Reno is the scuzzy-looking, ruthless Turk in FF7. I felt like Reno in Advent Children just couldn't possibly be the same slouchy, creepy Reno who set the keycode to drop the Sector 7 plate on like, hundreds of innocent women/children/puppies/kittens/babies/yougettheidea in FF7. Just saying'.

14) Favorite weapon in a Final Fantasy game (either the name if you liked the name, or a picture if you liked the look of it, or a description if it had awesome stats/abilities):
Kind of loved Edgar's tools in FF6. It went along with the whole steampunk aspect of the game-- how Edgar had this arsenal of advanced machinery, and you could just whip out a chainsaw in the middle of a swordfight.

15) Your favorite Final Fantasy summon (e.g. Ifrit, Carbuncle, Bahamut, etc.):

I've always been partial to Shiva and Bahamut; they're kind of the generic "typical" summons, but they've always got awesome animation and design, and I find myself using them a lot... so I guess I'd have to go with them. Actually, this is a pretty interesting question, consdering I don't find myself thinking about favorite summons all that much.

16) Your favorite spell/ability/technique that can be learned in a Final Fantasy game (e.g. Esuna, Steal, special finishes/overdrives such as Tifa's Final Heaven limit break, etc.):

I still love the fact that Terra can Morph into her Esper form in FF6. The girl. Can MORPH. Into a freakin' ESPER. And look totally hot. Yeah.

17) A Final Fantasy mini-game/sidequest you invested entirely too much time into:
Getting all the final weapons in FFX. Don't ask my WHY I subjected myself to this. Dodging lightning on the Thunder Plains 100 times? Yeah. I totally sat there and did that. LET'S NOT SPEAK OF IT EVER AGAIN

18) Your favorite Cid:

I'm kind of partial to the Cid in FFIV; he was kind of badass. The Cid in FF6 was kind of interesting just because of his character's (slightly shady) relation to Celes; but I'll stick with FFIV Cid for this one.

19) Optional: Up to one class you think does not fit you, with reasoning why.

I've really got no comment. Anything is fine with me!

Ouuuuuch, that sucks. I mean, the music in that area isn't bad, but reset and restart always sucks. (I was thinking of the battle themes, though.)
