Hello there.

The Basics:

Name: Natalie
Age: 17
Location: Western Australia
Occupation: Part-time student
How did you find out about this community? (Specify usernames if you remember them.) From regann's post (thank you).

Personality Questions:

1) List and expand upon your three best traits / strengths. (These should be personality-related, not physical.) Well first off I would say observant. I am often think before I act, but that also means that I'm very aware of my surroundings and atmosphere. So if I were in a group then I would be aware of how each person was feeling and take it into consideration when I contribute to the group.
I could also say that I am compassionate. I feel personally upset when others are, so I am always looking out for others, even if it means that I neglect myself at times.
Lastly I would say... loyalty (not sure if that really qualifies). Once I connect with people I will not betray them. It would be a sin against them, but also against myself.

2) List and expand upon your three worst traits / weaknesses. I am a shy, which means that while I do have many friends I am not a social butterfly by any means. The other two would be that I am pretty gullible and easily manipulated (probably too trusting).

3) Rate yourself on the following traits by putting an 'X' in the box you think fits best. (E.g. if you are slightly more introverted than extroverted, put an 'X' in the second box.) Explain your choice as well.

Introverted [x] [ ] [ ] [ ] [ ] Extroverted
Explain: I wouldn't say I'm completely introverted because I am a social person, but I think I am a little more than slightly introverted (I hope you understanding what I'm saying!)

Cheerful [ ] [x] [ ] [] [ ] Gloomy
Explain: I like to cheer people up and boost morale in a group. But I'm also known for being realistic and practical, and sometimes that makes me the 'party-pooper'.

Reserved [x] [ ] [ ] [ ] [ ] Impulsive
Explain: I am sometimes hyperactive or impulsive but I prefer to be organised, I guess.

Energetic [ ] [ ] [ ] [x] [ ] Calm
Explain: I am usually the one who sits and laughs at the people who are doing a victory dance/dancing with joy, so I'd say I'm pretty calm. I'm also the person in the group that helps everyone else relax and stop freaking out.

Logical/Thinking [ ] [ ] [x] [ ] [ ] Emotional/Feeling
Explain: This is a difficult one because I feel that both my emotional side and logical side come out strongly in their own ways.

Grudge-holding [ ] [ ] [ ] [x] [ ] Forgiving
Explain: I do hold grudges and I am not prepared to forgive those people yet. But generally I would only hold a grudge against someone who has betrayed me many times and who has proven that they will not change their ways. I don't like holding grudges against people, especially friends.

4) Describe how you typically work in teams. Is it generally a good experience, or do you prefer working by yourself? Do you like to lead and make decisions or do you prefer to let others make decisions so that you can do the legwork? You may find it helpful to give an example of a team you worked on recently and how that went. I think the best way to describe my role in a team is as the 'supporter'. I am not the leader, but I can step up as a replacement when I must. I am the person who is like the leader's right-hand man; who makes sure everything goes smoothly and that the team is working well together. I suppose that means that I'm good at following orders and I like to do my part for the team in a more subtle way.

5) Spider-Man Decision: If you had to choose between saving two dozen innocent children and saving your best friend/significant other/person closest to you, which would you pick and why? This is tough. I would choose to save the two dozen children, even though I'd feel terrible about the decision.

6) Your friend has had their feelings hurt and comes to you for consolation. What do you do? Let's say, two days later they come to you again still upset over the same issue. What would you do in that case? I would listen to their story and help them understand their feelings. And when they came back to me I would do the same thing until they feel better. I tend to do this for a lot of my friends.

7) What interests/hobbies do you have? How do you like to spend your free time? I play badminton, read, play games, listen to music and watch movies.

8) Describe one to three careers you would find ideal, with a little explanation of why it appeals to you. Um, a career in psychology sounds promising to me because I feel like I can understand and relate to it easily. Other options would be work in health science, either for environment conservation or helping people or both.

FF Questions:

9) List one to three favorite Final Fantasy games and why you like them. Sequels/spin-offs/non-numbered/KH/Dissidia games are okay. Final Fantasy IX will always be my favourite because it was my first game, and to me it is the most 'Final Fantasy' game in the series. I also really enjoyed the storyline. Others that I love are Final Fantasy VII and VI, and that would also be for their plots.

10) List one to three of your favorite Final Fantasy characters and why: Well, off the top of my head I would say Terra Branford (FFVI). Her determination and resolve is inspiring, and I love her character story. Other favourite characters would be Freya and Vivi (FFIX) but there are too many other characters that I love that come so close!

11) One to three characters you relate to (you may reuse answers from #8 if applicable) and why: I relate well to Terra (FFVI) and also to Quistis (FFVIII). She is my favourite character in FFVIII and I can understand her struggles with communicating and belonging to a group.

12) The FF game you liked playing least: I would have to say FFXII. I found it difficult to see with the camera angles but also that there wasn't much of a plot.

13) One to three FF characters you dislike and why: Well there aren't any that I hate (unless I count bosses) so I'd have to say Wakka (FFX) and several optional characters from FFVI just because I don't feel they're necessary.

14) Favorite weapon in a Final Fantasy game (either the name if you liked the name, or a picture if you liked the look of it, or a description if it had awesome stats/abilities): Well, I always loved how Selphie used nunchaku and Quistis used a whip.

15) Your favorite Final Fantasy summon (e.g. Ifrit, Carbuncle, Bahamut, etc.): Bahumut, from various games.

16) Your favorite spell/ability/technique that can be learned in a Final Fantasy game (e.g. Esuna, Steal, special finishes/overdrives such as Tifa's Final Heaven limit break, etc.): I enjoyed using the FVIII Limit Breaks the most, with my favourite probably being Squall's.

17) A Final Fantasy mini-game/sidequest you invested entirely too much time into: Oh, I'd say all of the FFIX sidequests: Chocobo Hot-Cold, Tetra Cards, Stellazio coins, the auction items, the moogle letters etc... all way too much fun. :)

18) Your favorite Cid: That would FFIX's frog/oglop Regent.

19) Optional: Up to one class you think does not fit you, with reasoning why. I have a strange feeling that if I were a Thief I would end up apologising and returning my spoils because I felt guilty. :/

You have this thoughtful, calmness about you. You observe but rarely participate, and you are kind without being overbearing. Reading through the whole thing, I get the vibe of Henry Townsend from Silent Hill 4 from you - which isn't really a class of FF which is not even - yeah, I'm not being helpful here.

Thief and Monk are straight out, as those are more impulsive, act-in-the-moment classes. I see Dragoon, Soldier and both mage classes in you, though.

I decided to make a quick stats sheet, based on what you said. So my impression of you is something like this:

Spd = Low
Str = Medium
Mag = Very high
Spr = Medium
HP = Medium
MP = High

So I think soldier and dragoon are out, so you are one of the mages. You come across as someone far more caring and defensive (in abilities) than offensive, so in the end, I think I'm going for a White Mage

(But I still see a dragoon in you but oh well)

([livejournal.com profile] rayiroth basically read my mind XD)

I agree that you have a calm and almost nurturing vibe in your application that immediately made me think of White Mage. You do have a lot of Dragoon qualities as well (I actually went back and forth between Dragoon and White Mage for some time) but it seems to me that you are concerned more with the well-fare of others than that your own, which is very much a White Mage quality (as opposed to Dragoons, who are more goal-oriented and a bit self-centered). I actually see a lot of Yuna and Garnet in your application as well, so overall I'm choosing White Mage for you :-)

We actually had a few people who'd make amazing Paladins. It was never really a class, but it was interesting to see.

Plus, Holy. I'm leaving it like that.

Oh, a fellow VI/IX fan! Welcome! I hope you enjoy your stay here. :)

As to stamping... I think I'm going to go with White Mage for you; that's definitely the vibe that's coming through the strongest. There's a general sense of supportiveness and patient calm that I'm getting from your application - and somehow the fact that you said you'd apologise and return your spoils comes across as rather White Mage to me, as well. Leading in a more subtle way does strike me as a White Mage thing to do - they often function as the emotional support for the party - it's subtler because it's frequently behind-the-scenes, but it's extremely crucial at holding a party together.

I could actually see quite a bit of Soldier and Dragoon in you at times, but I think I have to agree with the White Mage votes overall. Observant, loyal, and compassionate are all positive personality traits associated with White Mage characters throughout the FF series...and quite a few White Mages in FF could also perhaps be described as rather shy, gullible, and perhaps a bit too trusting at times too.

Many White Mages are, while still rather sociable, a bit more introverted in their mannerisms and interactions with others. They can be somewhat practical and realistic at times in certain situations, but are also quite noted for trying to cheer others up and boost morale too (Porom is a great example of a White Mage character who does both! :D). And while they can be impulsive and hyperactive in certain instances, are often showcased to be more reserved and cautious at times too. Many White Mages are not for being calm and relaxed in most instances too (and I could see several of them perhaps smiling or laughing if they saw someone else really enjoying themselves as well or having fun). They are often in-between both emotional and logical, with instances of following both mindsets depending upon the situations they find themselves in. Many White Mage characters would probably be willing to hold a grudge against someone they felt was constantly betraying either themselves or others, or doing something horrible over and over again (such as perhaps a villain character in their respective game)...but generally they don't like to hold grudges against people, especially if they're someone that they care for very much.

How you described yourself as being the "supporter" when working in groups fits very well with most White Mages and Summoners to me in terms of their role in a group...especially characters like Porom (especially in FFIV: The After Years when she is more of a supportive leader figure for Mysidia), Lehko from FFXI, Garnet, Yuna, Sara Altney, Refia, Eiko, Penelo, Hope, Vanille, and Minwu. I could picture many White Mage characters relating to your Spider-Man scenario question answer and how you would comfort a friend response as well. Your ideal career choices also remind me quite a bit of several White Mage characters to in a way. :)

Yay for FFIX, FFVII, and FFVI love! And double-yay for Terra, Freya, Vivi, Quistis, and FFIX!Cid love too! Your answers to the FF section were really fun to read. ♥

You are SO a White Mage. I honestly didn't see much of anything else in the application, but it also didn't seem like you were trying to be a White Mage, either.

You focus on others, you nurture others in your current situation and hope to nurture others in the future. You're willing to lead a group if you need to, so that everyone succeeds and you rejoice in other people's success, but from the sidelines. You're trusting, but still waters run deep and the thing that makes you hold a grudge is a betrayal of that trust.

It's all very calm and White Mage-- and in a way that makes me feel very Monk-ish. Like "yes, white mage, I see that you are shy. Let's be friends and I will beat up anyone who tries to hurt you! And go on adventures! Now, let us find a tank!" :D

XD Your answer to #19 made me giggle. I can't think of a class that would suit you better than White Mage at this point, though my perspective is a little more from how you work in teams, how you'd respond to a friend in need of comfort and an overall feel of your "voice". Hurrah for FFIX and Oglop!Cid!

Well, I fear my vote is going to scream unoriginality, but I definitely see White Mage in your application (with some Dragoon and Soldier on the side! XD)! Your best/worst traits (observant, compassionate, loyalty, shyness, trusting, etc.) all fit with many of the White Mage characters in the FF series...and I can see pretty much a ton of the White Mages in your "rate your traits section" (to the point where further detail would pretty much just be quoting all of your answers there!). I think most of the White Mages fit the "supporter" role in team dynamics (heck, Minwu in FFII? He literally *is* the leader's right-hand man in that game!). I think the White Mages would probably lean more towards saving the children as well, but would definitely feel awful about the decision...and your answer about consoling a friend seems fitting for White Mage characters like Garnet. I actually see your ideal careers as being very fitting for the White Mage characters given your reasoning behind liking them! ♥

~Yay...a fellow FFIX fan! :)

I am not very original, but I have to agree with the above votes for White Mage.
How you described yourself reminded me of many white mage characters like Yuna and Aerith, and white mages are usually more introverted, compassionate, aware of people's feelings, calm and forgiving. Your ideal career, your role in team ( supporter ) and the fact that you mentioned you can lead when it's necesseary even if you usually prefer not to be the leader also fit with my idea of white mages.

Wow, normally I have a harder time deciding. But you are so a White Mage :) I think what especially decided it for me was the description of yourself as a 'supporter' and your decision in saving the children.

HIIIII! \o/

I'm gonna have to agree with everyone else and say White Mage. Compassionate, trusting, a supporter rather than a leader, tendencies toward cheerful and forgiving...seems pretty straight forward! I definitely see you as a Aerith or Yuna style white mage.

Welcome! <3 <3

I was definitely getting White Mage vibes all the way through this app, but when I read your reasons for Thief not suiting you it all just sort of slotted into place! I see quite a bit of Yuna in you - especially in your reasons for admiring Terra (I can't say too much about Terra because I've not played her game, alas).

I don't really have anything to add. I also think you're a White Mage -- your positive & negative traits, dichotomies, how you answered the Spider-Man question, etc. all seem very White Mage!

[identity profile] northstarroad.livejournal.com 2011-11-05 03:28 pm (UTC)(link)
There were quite a few instances where I was certain that you're a White Mage, the first and foremost that you'd listed your perceived strengths are compassion and empathy, while in almost the next breath, you list your weaknesses as being guillible and easily manipulated. Mostly, it made me think of Yuna, and once my mind was leaning in that direction, the rest of the application was a landslide of checks in the White Mage column.

"I have a strange feeling that if I were a Thief I would end up apologising and returning my spoils because I felt guilty."

I think I'd be the same way! ♥

[identity profile] the-404-error.livejournal.com 2011-11-06 07:25 pm (UTC)(link)
As unhelpful as it is, I really do agree with the White Mage votes for redundant reasons by this point.

I was very tempted to vote Dragoon however, so I'll explain that for the sake of variety: They're observant, and have to be able to time their jumps accurately as well as pin point where to fall on an enemy so their spear hits them before they do. Some look out for others to the point of neglecting themselves-- Ricard gives his life so others can live, Freya is easily moved by emotional plights (i.e. those two moogles), and Kimahri dedicates his life to protecting Yuna. With the exception one who unfortunately seems to be the Dragoon poster-jumper, they're all quite loyal as well. They're supporters, more calm, introverted...

However, all of those traits could also apply to White Mages and all aspects of your application not mentioned above are more WM than Dragoon. White Mages are more forgiving, cheerful, and... there is an emphasis on understanding and emotionally supporting others, which is pretty much White Mage to the core. I can even see them saying they find it difficult to dislike many characters.

(Also *highfives for IX and VI love*)
