Personality Questions:
1) List and expand upon your three best traits / strengths. (These should be personality-related, not physical.)
a.) Well, I am a very positive person. I am the type of person who thinks that attitude is everything. You go into something with a positive attitude, you tend to feel better about yourself and more confident in your surroundings. I've had bad days of course and I'm not a total pollyanna but I try to make the best of what I can.
b.) I am very patient, to a fault even. I can wait forever for something that I really want. That being said the patience often links in with a tendancy to not stress. Life is too short to worry so I try to keep everything absolutely laid back.
c.) I have a mischievous side. I like to laugh, to have fun and just cut up with people and I'm definitely up for a good prank, though luckily it's all in good fun and I don't really harm anyone in the process. (and on that note, if someone pranks me in return, I accept it as is because well I can take as good as I can give.)
2) List and expand upon your three worst traits / weaknesses.
a.) I can be prone to fits of jealousy and possessiveness. I need to learn not to treat people as things for me to store away for later. I do this with people that I get close to where I think that I should have a store in their time and resources. It's not a good trait to possesse to be sure and I've been trying to work on that for the last year.
b.) Attention Span of a Gnat. I am easily distracted.. in fact I almost drove my car into a pole last night because I was trying to keep my attention on something else. This also means that at times I can be a bit clumsy (ahaha, awarence of surroundings are for people that aren't me!) and when I was a child, I broke my wrist three times.. THREE. (This trait is the reason why I've started tons of video games but NEVER HAVE BEATEN THEM. I may secretly be a kender with my attraction to new shinies)
c.) I can't accept failure, I will beat a dead horse again and again because I have to succeed. That is one of the things that my supervisor brought up to me when there was this discussion on my strengths and weaknesses. He expressed doubts as to me being able to handle the failure of an associate that was the weak link in a team and that it was something that I needed to work on. There's a fine line between hoping for the best and being blinded from the reality I suppose.
3) Rate yourself on the following traits by putting an 'X' in the box you think fits best. (E.g. if you are slightly more introverted than extroverted, put an 'X' in the second box.) Explain your choice as well.
Introverted [ ] [ ] [ ] [X] [ ] Extroverted
Explain: Well I didn't mark myself as full extrovert because I do need one day every two weeks that is pretty much my recharge time. My battery is long lasting but I do need to have a day where I just relax and do my own thing. No friends or plans involved.
Cheerful [X] [ ] [ ] [ ] [ ] Gloomy
Explain: My friends are always trying to figure out who will be the one to break me. Who will make me sad. Of course they are teasing (I hope) but well I try not to let anything get me down because as I see it there are some people who need a lift and if I can provide it from just being.. then I will.
Reserved [ ] [ ] [X] [ ] [ ] Impulsive
Explain: Well I don't rush into something if I determine that it can harm me. I wouldn't do drugs when I was younger because they terrified me.. that lack of control. I will impulsively make friends or impulsively make decisions for weekend plans.. but if something is serious, I try to be a bit more circumspect.
Energetic [ ] [ ] [ ] [X] [ ] Calm
Explain: This all depends because there are times I can be energetic, but I associate calmness more with the ability not to get stressed so I tend to be very chill. If you get me with a series or a topic of discussion that I really enjoy, then I will be very energetic and animated.
Logical/Thinking [ ] [X] [ ] [ ] [ ] Emotional/Feeling
Explain: I'm not emotional, I do not get bogged down in emotions. If I were to pick an element for myself it would be wind. Fluid and sort of everywhere, an air sign if you will. I am not sure about logical thinking because my mind goes in some pretty random places sometimes but I am definitely a 'thinking' individual.. more 'thinking' then 'feeling'
Grudge-holding [ ] [ ] [X] [ ] [ ] Forgiving
Explain: I will give anyone the benefit of doubt the first time. But burn me again, and I will never ever forget. I will be polite but I will never ever place any trust in you ever again.. there will always be that instinctual level of wariness.
4) Describe how you typically work in teams. Is it generally a good experience, or do you prefer working by yourself? Do you like to lead and make decisions or do you prefer to let others make decisions so that you can do the legwork? You may find it helpful to give an example of a team you worked on recently and how that went.
I work well in teams, I am usually the person who is the motivator. I've been known to step up to leadership roles and I can juggle many different tasks but I've always acted as support so that the others can succeed and my area of expertise is people and motivating them. Where I work we have a thing known as Kulture Klub which is pretty much a organization that is devoted to the happiness of the employees. I've been on the team for a while and I usually act in team as getting to know people, what makes them tick and taking an interest in them.
5) Spider-Man Decision: If you had to choose between saving two dozen innocent children and saving your best friend/significant other/person closest to you, which would you pick and why?
Indeed, a difficult decision. I know I would find this decision very hard because I want to be happy but I also want everyone else to be happy in the process. I can't really say what I would -really- do because one can say a good game but when reality hits, the gut usually tells. I would like to say that I would pick the lives of the innocent children however that could very well be what I think I would react and not even come close to how I would behave. It's easier to make decisions like these based on a calm mind but when the psyche enters in, that is when the real truth comes out. (I hope you guys didn't think I flaked out on that question.. -_-; )
6) Your friend has had their feelings hurt and comes to you for consolation. What do you do? Let's say, two days later they come to you again still upset over the same issue. What would you do in that case?
The first thing I would do is listen to them and then I would go and try to distract them with something fun to do.. be it a trip to an amusement park, an all night anime/tv show marathon, just trying to get their mind off the problem at hand. If they came to me again still upset over the same issue, I would try to offer them as sound advice as I could depending on if it was a situation that I had been in previously. If it was, then I'd try to think of what I would do in the situation and share that with them, though prefacing it with the fact that it is completely subjective and what works for someone doesn't necessarily work for everyone.
7) What interests/hobbies do you have? How do you like to spend your free time?
I am a giant foodie, I love different types of food and discovering new little places to eat, not to mention pinterest is my friend because there are so many different little recipes to try. I read profusely (I am usually reading 3 books concurrently so that I don't get bored and stuck in the middle of one), I have many TV shows that I watch; some by myself and some with friends. And speaking of friends, I'm usually gone on the weekends because I like to hang out with people and I thrive on it. Right now I am at a friend's house and in some down time typing this up. I'm also going to a Protomen concert tomorrow in Nashville which is going to be tons of fun. I love new adventures and new expiriences.
8) Describe one to three careers you would find ideal, with a little explanation of why it appeals to you.
I love music and so I thought that it would always be fun to sort of pick songs that would be in movies. You know, watch the movie and go "I think that THIS song fits THIS scene, so we're going to segue it right into it so that it brings intense emotional value".
FF Questions:
9) List one to three favorite Final Fantasy games and why you like them. Sequels/spin-offs/non-numbered/KH/Dissidia games are okay.
Oh this is easy. My first favorite is FF3/6. It was one of the last few final fantasy games where it was incredibly easy to power up if you knew what to do. (Thank you 'stat-enhance at level up' espers.) But I also liked it because the villain was very dynamic and entertaining, and there wasn't a character that I disliked in the game (and that's important for me.)
As far as my second favorite game, it would have to be FF2/4. It didn't have the mad amounts of options as FF3/6 but each character in the party had it's place for that EXACT time that it was in the party so when you got to the moon, everyone had a role and function. Yeah, it wasn't like FF3/6 where everyone could do everything but at the very least you could count on every character to be the ABSOLUTE best at what they set out to do (Rydia being a kickass summouner, Edge being an awesome ninja.. etc.)
10) List one to three of your favorite Final Fantasy characters and why:
Setzer Gabbiani is my first favorite Final Fantasy character. I had never really gotten hooked on the Final Fantasy game until I watched someone play through the Opera House and then at that moment Setzer sweeps in and it is love at first sight. He never left my party until the world of ruin and then I made sure to hijack the espers so that at every level up he earned +2 to strength and thus at endgame making him stronger then even Sabin.
Second favorite is Basch Von Ronsenberg. It's because of Basch's potholder...

I think it's brilliant, I'm trying to figure out if it gives him added powers, if he made it for his mom when he was in second grade.. or what, it's really quite a fascinating statement on fashion. This intrigues and I'll probably go to the grave being curious about Basch's potholder.
11) One to three characters you relate to and why:
Laguna Loire is a character that I relate to. I mean I knew it was love at first sight when I saw that he was perhaps just as clumsy as me (though to be perfectly fair, I've never run myself off a cliff before, but I'm not saying that that won't ever happen; never say never.) I like though how he is very hopeful and optimistic. Here is a guy that life has taken him down many different paths but he's accepted them as is and simply enjoyed the journey. Yeah, he has regrets but he lives for the future and that's something that I try to do.
12) The FF game you liked playing least:
Final Fantasy 8. Ironic because I just listed a character from that game as being the character that I relate to the most. But I just didn't enjoy the battle system and the fact that the monsters leveled up while you did was definitely a turn-off not to mention that I loved Laguna but there were many characters in the game that I didn't particularly care for. (though I'm sure the game didn't care for me either.)
13) One to three FF characters you dislike and why:
There are many people who will say that they thought that Rosa was the most awesome individuals ever however I really didn't care for her at all as a character. It wasn't because I always thought that Kain and Cecil made a better couple (because honestly I adore me some Rydia/Edge.) but I think it was because she required so much 'saving' and I just got really tired of chasing Rosa and Golbez around. Yeah it was necessary because of the sheer plot of FF2 however it didn't make me like Rosa any more.
14) Favorite weapon in a Final Fantasy game (either the name if you liked the name, or a picture if you liked the look of it, or a description if it had awesome stats/abilities):
Each Final Fantasy game has a nod to Kain Highwind in the form of the Kain Spear. Cid Highwind had one and I believe that it was the ultimate weapon of Fang from Final Fantasy XII, but such a wonderful nod to a game that I love given to the characters who technically traverse down the Dragoon path, Kain is definitely in good company.
15) Your favorite Final Fantasy summon (e.g. Ifrit, Carbuncle, Bahamut, etc.):
Carbuncle, oh my gosh.. the cuteness overload! Though I'm also fond of Tonberry King because Tonberries are also insanely cute. It's hard for me to decide between the two in all honesty.
16) Your favorite spell/ability/technique that can be learned in a Final Fantasy game (e.g. Esuna, Steal, special finishes/overdrives such as Tifa's Final Heaven limit break, etc.):
In any game, if there's a steal option; I will overuse it. I did it in Chrono Trigger with Ayla (it was the charm function but really that's just whitewashing and making the truth of it all nice and pretty with kisses and hearts)
17) A Final Fantasy mini-game/sidequest you invested entirely too much time into:
Chocobo Breeding in Final Fantasy 7. Seriously it was because I wanted.. no needed Knights of the Round. But I didn't mind making nice and cute chocobo babies, so yes.. tons of money spent on Gyshel greens and hours upon hours of chocobo racing at the Golden Saucer made for KoTR materia gotten! Woot!
18) Your favorite Cid: See my gut tells me that Cid Highwind definitely makes me happy. A nod to Kain and honestly who couldn't love someone who states the truth: "Shut up and drink your goddamn tea". Yeah, I'll have some tea! Though I also like Al-Cid (yeah okay, he's not a real Cid, but he does have Cid in his name and that still makes him awesome in my book. (and those pants.. those pants, I wonder how he can possibly walk in them.
19) Optional: Up to one class you think does not fit you, with reasoning why.
I will accept any class that I am put into and do my best to help my fellow class-mates succeed! <3

You're kind of difficult because I can see a good few working for you. On a first read-through my initial thought was that quite a few of your traits seemed very Thief, but it just didn't seem to fit quite right - I'm going with a Monk vote here, instead.
I do rather conceive of monks as the heart of the team - they can be patient and even quieter, at times, but they're also inclined towards extroversion and really willing to work extremely hard for what they want (I'm thinking of Sabin and his training, as well as Ursula from The After Years). Motivation and support can be a very white mage trait, but at the same time your style of writing strikes me as a little more high-energy than a White Mage would be, and somehow... punchier. (It's very Monk, in other words.) The cheerfulness fits, too, especially your line of reasoning for it.

Also, love love love love your icon. I loved FFIV: The After. It was also exceedingly comforting to know that Edge was STILL barking up Rydia's tree.

Also, you'd be surprised! I thought I was going to get lines upon lines of white mage votes, too, when I first applied, and instead it was a unanimous black mage vote.
Thanks! I didn't make it; a friend did. And yes - I know exactly what you mean regarding Edge/Rydia, although my first thought was "Oh, dear. Poor Edge!" (Then again, it seems the lovely FFIV gentlemen tend to... languish, if Kain and Edward are any gauge...)

I also see the Monk class a lot in your traits: they tend to be more extroverted but every once in awhile require a day t recharge by themselves; they're usually some of the more cheerful characters in a cast (particularly in the newer games!); quite a few of them are kind of in-between when it comes to being reserved/impulsive (Tifa, Yang, Lisa, Sabin); energetic about things they enjoy or are passionate about but calm in that they don't get stressed easily; some can be more on the logical/thinking side (Amarant
depending on the situation, Yang, and Lisa); and most of the Monks in FF tend to be pretty in-between on the grudge-holding/forgiveness scale too. To me, the Monks in FF tend to play the role of the motivator in the party...and I totally see a Monk saying that it would really depend on gut instinct in the end in regards to the Spider-man decision. I could also see most of the Monks in FF reacting the same to consoling a friend.~I loved reading your FF answers! XD Welcome to the comm! ♥

Let's see..I could see quite a few job classes fitting for you at times: Thief, White Mage, and Monk were probably some of my first thoughts...and the more I read through your application, the more I really started seeing where the Monk votes are coming from in particular.
Positive, patient, mischievous at times (especially in regards to liking to laugh), sometimes having moments of jealousy and possessiveness, sometimes having not as good of an attention span depending on the circumstances, and can't accept failure (being some of the more determined and goal-oriented characters in their respective games) are all personality traits found within pretty much one character within the Monk class throughout the series...and a lot of those traits are found in combinations throughout all of them.
They're more extroverted in a lot of ways, but several Monks do at least need a little time to themselves every once in awhile to recharge...they're often more cheerful, some of them can be more in the middle ground between reserved and impulsive, they're often more energetic and passionate about things they're interested in but they do have a more calm/chill manner at times revolving around everything else, "I am not sure about logical thinking because my mind goes in some pretty random places sometimes but I am definitely a 'thinking' individual.. more 'thinking' then 'feeling'" fits rather well for several Monk characters (particularly in the earlier games), and they're often in the middle ground between forgiveness and grudge-holding too (willing to give someone the benefit of the doubt once, but being very wary if betrayed or hurt by that person a second time afterwards).
I could see them reacting to the Spider-man question in a similar way, and reacting similarly when trying to console or support an upset friend too. Monk characters' personalities vary depending on the game, but as Mysti said...they are definitely always depicted as the "heart" of their respective parties, so you describing yourself as the motivator when it comes to group work fits really well for them (they're often the first characters to encourage those around them and offer support). :D
~Your thoughts on FF were really fun to read! Hehe, I was bobbing my head in agreement so much with some of your responses there. ♥ It's going to be awesome and fun having you in the comm...welcome! *hugs* ♥

I associate a lot more patience with Monks than Thieves (we're more likely to bounce around impatiently, for the most part lol), and I think your grudge answer fits really well too. I also associate that mid-range of impulsiveness-reserved with Monks - they're good at pausing to think about decisions, whereas we Thieves tend to rush headlong into things ahah.

I saw quite a few hints of white mage and thief in this app but I think Monk would probably be the best fit for you overall. FF Monks tend to be the warm cheerleaders of a group (though of course there are exceptions) and that's the general impression I get from your app based on your optimism and answers to how you work in teams and try to cheer a friend up. Whilst FF monks are famous for being hot-blooded there are a few who can remain calm when it comes to dealing with tough situations such as Tifa and Amarant.
Also yay for Laguna love! (That man is such an adorable bumbling dork!) Though I hear you on VIII being a chore - I loved quite a few bits of it but that monster levelling system really made me weep.
Welcome to ff_land! I hope you have a great time here! ♥

I had a Laguna figurine when the game first came out however when I joined the military, my father SOLD it on ebay. Made me so made. It was like the only thing that he sold on ebay, makes absolutely no sense!
Thank you for the warm welcome!

And /highfive on the love for VI and IV. (... and picking VIII for least liked, lol. I would've finished it if the story focused only on Laguna and his crew, but I had almost no interest in Squall/most of the main party)

The classics though, that's where my heart is at.

And lmao, potholder. I always thought it was a squashed Rubix cube strapped to his chest. I could never get the hang of chocobo breeding, though, so kudos.

omg.
This concept is love.
Black Mage
Your positive and negative traits work really well for Monk, Thief, and White Mage. Dichotomies -- I get a very Monk and Thief vibe, but in particular leaning toward logical/thinking makes me pick Thief over Monk here. (I also associate the Thief class with Air signs -- they're more detached and intellectual rather than passionate.) #4 could work with a lot of classes, including Thief (you seem very people-oriented, which works with Monk/Thief/WM again). #6 and your distract-with-fun strategy again seems Thiefy to me, although I suppose Monk would work here too. #7... well, I would associate the hobbies you listed with Monk first, but not a bad fit for Thief either. #10: you like Setzer, and he could be seen as an honorary Thief (tried to steal Maria, that rogue). Relating to Laguna seems like maybe a more Monk-like thing, but not too far off from Thief either. So yep, there's my reasoning.
Re: Black Mage
I am distracted by shinies, you should see me at a Swap Meet, I see the jewelry stands and my eyes start glistening. The brighter colours and shinier it is, the more I am attracted to it.
The pieces of jewelry I do have are interesting and usually full of the shiny.
And Setzer, damn I'd let him steal ME!
Thank you for voting!
