Personality Questions:

1) List and expand upon your three best traits / strengths. (These should be personality-related, not physical.)

Incredibly loyal to those who I consider friends. It takes a lot to alienate me once I'm your friend, and I tend to be in things for the long haul.

I tend to cheer people up around me - I can't bear to see someone down in the dumps, so I do my best to lift their spirits and take their mind off their problems for a while. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't, but if I can get a smile or a laugh I'll consider it a success.

Fairness is something that I hold dear. I try to give equal chances and opportunities to all, and it rankles when I see something that isn't fair or equal.

2) List and expand upon your three worst traits / weaknesses.

I don't deal well with big responsibilities. I mean, I can do it, but it'll take a bit of a shove to get me to go on with it. I'm scared that I'll screw things up and ruin it for everyone else. But if it's just my own neck at stake, it's easier to deal with.

Awkward in big crowds - I really, really suck at dealing with more than five people at once. I tend to be either really quiet, or really obnoxious and loud. It could be one or it could be the other, I really don't have control over which way I go this time.

I often need someone to kick me in the shins and tell me to refocus and get back on track, as I derail and get off-topic very easily. I often need outside motivation to focus.

3) Rate yourself on the following traits by putting an 'X' in the box you think fits best. (E.g. if you are slightly more introverted than extroverted, put an 'X' in the second box.) Explain your choice as well.

Introverted [ ] [ ] [X] [ ] [ ] Extroverted
Explain: It really depends on the company - is it with someone I trust and get along with, or is it someone I don't really know all that well? If it's the former, I'm chatty, talkative, positive. The later? I'm wary and I watch what I say, how I react, and carefully control myself.

Cheerful [ ] [X] [ ] [ ] [ ] Gloomy
Explain: Generally a more positive person than a negative one, and I like to keep upbeat about life. I like being happy, feels a lot better than constant negativity.

Leader [ ] [ ] [ ] [X] [ ] Supportive
Explain: I can occasionally do the whole leader thing, but I definitely prefer and work better as part of the team. I'm less likely to freeze with indecision, then.

Confident [ ] [ ] [ ] [X] [ ] Modest
Explain: I'm largely humble and can't accept praise well. It's always a surprise to hear that people like my writing, but I've learned to just roll with it.

Reserved [ ] [ ] [ ] [X] [ ] Impulsive
Explain: This goes hand in hand with my lack of focus - I flit between ideas and themes constantly, thinking, oh wouldn't it be cool and shiny if I did this... Makes for some very scattered writing time.

Energetic [ ] [X] [ ] [ ] [ ] Calm
Explain: I try to keep a certain level of energy about me, to keep active. I'm NOT laid back, and well, I'm kinda highly-strung.

Feminine [ ] [ ] [ ] [X] [ ] Masculine/Tomboyish
Explain: Lol, I avoid being fem like the plague, except for when I have to be. Would much rather androgyny or being a tomboy. Shorts, tshirts and roughhousing for the win!

4) Describe how you typically work in teams. Is it generally a good experience, or do you prefer working by yourself? Do you like to lead and make decisions or do you prefer to let others make decisions so that you can do the legwork? You may find it helpful to give an example of a team you worked on recently and how that went.

I like working in teams! I tend to take the role of a planner and a finisher, to motivate others to do their best and let their work motivate me to do likewise! I like to put the final touches on a project, to make sure that it's all up to my standards and not lacking any of that extra oomph.

I take orders really well, and I like fulfilling the requirements of others.

5) What interests/hobbies do you have? How do you like to spend your free time?

I tend to write (fanfiction and original stuff) a lot, bludge on the internet like woah, text and play games. I like to watch a bit of anime, and read Batman comics (when I can afford them, haha). I spend a bit of time away from home staying with my girlfriend, who I plan and create cosplays with.

6) Describe one to three careers you would find ideal, with a little explanation of why it appeals to you.

Teacher - I love learning, and fostering an environment where others can also learn is something I'm keen on. Everyone deserves the right to an education, and I want to help with that.

Police - I'd like to uphold the laws and keep the streets safer for others, even if it means that I put myself under a lot of stress or in danger.

Psychologist - I like to help others reach their potential and become happy with themselves and their lives.

FF Questions:

7) List one to three favorite Final Fantasy games and why you like them. Sequels/spin-offs/non-numbered/KH/Dissidia games are okay.

FFX - This was the first FF I ever played, and though I've played many of the other entries to the series, I always come back to this one as my favourite. The story, the themes, the characters, the battle system, the entire world - it just struck a chord with me in a way nothing else has.

FFIV - the battle between light and darkness, hatred and forgiveness - Cecil was a fantastic main character, and his struggles with himself and hatred is very compelling. FFIV also has a cast that I loved, from the conflicted Kain, to the honourable Yang, to the arrogant Edge, to the summoner Rydia. Golbez is my favourite FF villain.

FFXIII - I like this one because of the cast, a reasonable love of the story (it wasn't perfect, but hey) and a good battle system. Lightning is my favourite main character, and Pulse my favourite location. It's because of its imperfections that I write a lot of fanfic based on this game.

8) List one to three of your favorite Final Fantasy characters and why:

Lightning (FFXIII) - she's badass, she's tough, she's capable, and she works well alone and in teams. Her design and her attitude are why I love her.
Tidus (FFX) - his growth from a spoiled sports star to the saviour of a world was a compelling journey for me. As he learned, so did I, and I'll never forget our journey through Spira. Selfless and sacrificing, and the drive to do what's right.
Cecil Harvey (FFIV) - Finding the strength in yourself to forgive someone like Golbez takes a lot of guts, but somehow Cecil managed it. His journey from conflicted Dark Knight to righteous Paladin was fantastic.

9) One to three characters you relate to (you may reuse answers from #8 if applicable) and why:

Tidus - Keep smiling, even when it hurts, because sometimes people are counting on your to raise their spirits.
Cecil - Forgiveness and mercy are true strength, whereas hate and vengeance only beget eternal pain.
Snow - Keep your spirits high no matter the cost. If you believe, you can do the impossible. Just hold it together a little longer.

10) The FF game you liked playing least: Lol, FFIII. I hated that game with a passion.

11) One to three FF characters you dislike and why:

Selphie - sorry, I need a little more substance to my characters than you. There's cheerful and then there's Selphie.
Rikku - I liked her FFX self, but FFX-2 butchered her character beyond belief. They took all the traits of Rikku that I liked in FFX, and highlighted the ditz in her.

Generally, I don't like characters than fit the above archetype.

12) Favorite weapon in a Final Fantasy game (either the name if you liked the name, or a picture if you liked the look of it, or a description if it had awesome stats/abilities):

Shuyin's sword. Simple, but elegant. I wish I had that sword. ;_;

13) Your favorite Final Fantasy summon (e.g. Ifrit, Carbuncle, Bahamut, etc.):

Odin (any incarnation). Zantetsuken is my favourite move in most games.

14) Your favorite spell/ability/technique that can be learned in a Final Fantasy game (e.g. Esuna, Steal, special finishes/overdrives such as Tifa's Final Heaven limit break, etc.):

Army of One! Stylish, but not OP.

15) A Final Fantasy mini-game/sidequest you invested entirely too much time into:

Blitzball. I loved that minigame! Once you have the right team, things get awesome!

16) Your favorite Cid:

FFIV's Cid. Bushy beard and slightly crazy? Yes please! XD

17) Optional: Up to one class you think does not fit you, with reasoning why.

Skip!

Hit me with your best shot, guys! *laugh*

Edit: Wow, still an even split! I'm sorry for making this hard to process, guys!

I was between White Mage and Thief, but I ultimately went with Thief because of your outgoing, active, and energetic nature. You're okay with being the support in your group rather than the leader, and you'd be a cheerful and welcomed addition to your party.

Some things fit Monk, but I think overall you're a Thief. You're upbeat and energetic and you said you like to cheer people up. I think that FF thieves are often the real heart of their team, lifting people's spirits and doing what they can to make people smile.

Okay I think I might be tying it up again but I'm going to switch my vote to Monk. When I read your comment about your fairness, it made my mind jump to thieves like Robin Hood. But I agree with what people said that it can be a very monk-like trait as well. And you answered that you avoid fem things like the plague, and I find monks to be more masculine than thieves. Personality-wise I think you fit both thief and monk like a glove, but you said you want to be a police officer and I can see that not gelling very well with a thief! So I'm switching to monk. :)

It was between White Mage and Thief for me, but overall I think I see slightly more Thief. They can function as support, although they don't always do that, and the way you describe yourself as dressing sounds more thief-like to me, especially compared to the classic mage robes. You're also cheerful and outgoing and easily distracted - the last one in particular really screams thief to me, since many of the White Mage characters tend to be more serious and focused.

I feel like I'm not helping much, but I see a lot of Monk in your application! Monk characters tend to be loyal, like cheering people up, believe in fairness, and sometimes need help to refocus. They can be in-between introverted/extroverted, generally more cheerful, prefer to be more supportive, lean more towards modesty, slightly more impulsive, energetic, and fit more of a tomboy category. I could picture Monks actually thinking of teachers, psychologists, and police as ideal careers (for some reason, I could picture a slightly older Zell in anyone of those jobs, hehe!). Monks seem to enjoy working in teams more than a lot of the other job classes do, and they're all for motivating a group! I could even picture a lot of Monk characters liking FFIV's Cid for some reason. :)

White Mage

[identity profile] bean-bunny.livejournal.com 2011-01-25 04:57 am (UTC)(link)
You care so much about others that I'll say white mage.

[identity profile] the-404-error.livejournal.com 2011-01-25 04:25 pm (UTC)(link)
I can definitely see where thief is coming from, but I'm leaning a bit towards Monk myself. They're more of the supportive sort, since while they can lead, they're more likely to motivate and try to cheer up others than be charging in the front. Quite a few of them are impulsive and energetic, and even females like Ursula tend to be more on the tomboy scale of things personality-wise. Many of the sentiments expressed in the characters you relate to question seem to fit the more classic monks, as forgiveness and mercy are concepts associated with the monks who actually do martial arts. Also, if you were a monk instead of a thief, you wouldn't have to arrest yourself if you do become a police officer! *shot*

I actually agree with Monk class for you. I don't know what else to add to what have been said but... you're fair, a support, you cheer up others, you're impulsive, loyal, energetic, tomboyish etc.

I can see where thief is coming from, but I'm leaning more towards Monk as well. The fact that you mentioned being fair, loyal, kind, and more modest all remind me of monks. People in the monk class are at times more calm and serious, but many of them are cheerful, and kind people. You particularly remind me of monks like Zell, and your more tomboy-ish nature also makes me lean a bit more towards monk.

Edit: had to add my team :]

Maan, I'm really torn between Monk and Thief! But I'm going to have to go with Thief, because of the fact that you motivate others (very much made me think of Rikku there), and that you said you didn't like how they butchered Rikku's character in X-2 kind of implies that you really relate to her in X (even though you didn't list her as one of the relate to characters - sorry if this actually isn't true! ^_^;;).

Your cheerfulness and willingness to work as part of a team really sort of cement the Thief for me, and although Monks are impulsive, I associate lack of focus much more with Thieves.

also; OHAI, FELLOW ODIN FAN! :D (and boy am I glad to see another person who didn't like FFIII, ahah)

Your cheerful disposition, energy, and impulsiveness just makes me think Monk. Your lack of focus often speaks to some of the monks out there, who sometimes have trouble not focusing on anything at all (lol wut sabin) but just a single thing. Someone who wants to learn, teach, and protect and values forgiveness over hatred... man, wow, you're a monk. You seem like you have a straight line set in your mind and go for the gold, and I don't know of a better class who exhibits that.

Not really helping you get stamped any faster by tying up the votes again, but I really have to go with Monk for you. Thief is definitely a strong second, but I think your sense of fairness and justice (definitely Monk traits) tip the scales, since your Thief traits are also somewhat Monk-ish.

Monk

[identity profile] silvertigerx.livejournal.com 2011-01-26 10:46 pm (UTC)(link)
Sorry, repost with my job class >_>

... you have no idea how long I agonized over you, reread your app, reread your votes, etc. Still, I'm going to stick by my first impression and say Thief! I pretty much started thinking her starting from your first traits; the Thieves strike me as pretty cheerful and friendly in general, although the sense of fairness (which I take as a sense of honor) also made me think of Solider and Monk. While I see both Monk and Thief, I think your negative traits push me slightly more into Thief -- they strike me as more distractable and would more likely share your attitude towards responsibility. Cheerful, energetic, and impulsive definitely made me think of Thief, although your ability to be more reserved and more tomboyish nature also made me think of Monk. God, this is hard. Well, I see Thieves as more of the motivators in teams honestly, and a lot of the qualities you respect in characters are all Thief-like ones even if they aren't Thieves themselves. Yep, I'm saying Thief for you overall!

My first impression was Monk for you, even if I have to admit I can see a bit of Thief as well in some of your answers and at first I was tempted to say Thief. I'm thinking Monk because I think that this job class fits your personality questions nicely. Monks are normally fair, cheerful, loyal, impulsive and energetic. Also this I take orders really well, and I like fulfilling the requirements of others doesn't remind me of Thief at all, so I think that Monk is a better fit for you.

I'm really gettin' a Monk vibe from you here. Your personality traits definately including your positive traits. And omg, Blitzball! XD Man, did I have trouble with that. I was never good at it, no matter how many times I tried. - Stops ranting. - ANYWAYS, yeah. I'll stick to Monk for you! XD
