Personality Questions:

1) List and expand upon your three best traits / strengths. (These should be personality-related, not physical.)

- Strong-minded: I know what I believe in, and I know what I like. I've got the strength of will to stand up for myself in an argument, and plenty of strong beliefs to argue about.
- Emotional: I'm super in touch with what makes me tick; I know myself extremely well, and what situations and things I'm best at. I can empathise well with others and generally see things from their point of view. I tend to make decisions based on what I feel, rather than what I think.
- Enthusiasm: I am very enthusiastic about a hell of a lot of things. I like a lot more things than I hate, and I can give concrete reasons why I like/dislike something.

2) List and expand upon your three worst traits / weaknesses.

- Emotional: Yup, I count this on both sides. I cry at the drop of a hat at inappropriate emotional stimuli (it's a brain thing, I physically cannot help it). I also get way over attached to characters, etc, which is probably where this stems from.
- Stubbornness: Goes with the strong-minded thing, ahah. I can be really stubborn if I don't want to change my mind about something.
- Over-sharing: I have pretty much zero shame, which makes me not realise that over-sharing is embarrassing to other people. I'll happily blather on about my sex life without even realising that it's making other people uncomfortable.

3) Rate yourself on the following traits by putting an 'X' in the box you think fits best. (E.g. if you are slightly more introverted than extroverted, put an 'X' in the second box.) Explain your choice as well.

Introverted [ ] [x] [ ] [ ] [ ] Extroverted
Explain: I'm a reader, primarily, and an RPG-gamer. Neither activity is good to do with other people, and I think I failed to develop half of the skills extroverts have for actually interacting with others.

Cheerful [x] [ ] [ ] [ ] [ ] Gloomy
Explain: I don't like being gloomy, so I try not to be. This links to my enthusiasm, haha. I genuinely do get enthusiastic about so many things I find it a lot easier to be cheerful and see the good side than anything else.

Leader [ ] [x] [ ] [ ] [ ] Supportive
Explain: I'm bossy. Should probably have put that in the negative traits, but oh boy, do I ever like taking charge. Although I also try to be supportive, but my bossiness gets in the way sometimes.

Confident [ ] [ ] [x] [ ] [ ] Modest
Explain: I'm confident half of the time; about my beliefs etc., but when it comes to my abilities (writing, etc.) or how I look I'm modest.

Reserved [ ] [ ] [x] [ ] [ ] Impulsive
Explain: I like routine, but also have a tendency to do things on impulse or whim, like play a certain game just cos I have an urge.

Energetic [ ] [ ] [ ] [ ] [x] Calm
Explain: I am mostly averse to physical exertion. I'm mentally enthusiastic, but I'd much rather sit down inside with a nice book.

Feminine [ ] [ ] [ ] [x] [ ] Masculine/Tomboyish
Explain: Ah, this one is tricky! I wear eye makeup and like to look feminine on occasion, but I also love to act tomboyish, something I've never grown out of. I think I like confusing people about whether I'm a gamer or not. Also, I have a seriously filthy sense of humour, so I think that's kinda unfeminine.

4) Describe how you typically work in teams. Is it generally a good experience, or do you prefer working by yourself? Do you like to lead and make decisions or do you prefer to let others make decisions so that you can do the legwork? You may find it helpful to give an example of a team you worked on recently and how that went.
I can work in a team, but I tend to want to take charge. I work very well on my own, but can have problems motivating myself, so I prefer working as part of a team to help with the motivation part.

5) What interests/hobbies do you have? How do you like to spend your free time?
I read, play video games and listen to music. I also watch various television programs (a few American ones and a fair amount of British comedy), write and then read some more. I really love reading, ahah.

6) Describe one to three careers you would find ideal, with a little explanation of why it appeals to you.
Copy-editor, because I have this thing for the little details. I love editing people's work anyway (I beta-read), and as an English Language with Creative Writing graduate I'd enjoy being able to apply the skills I learned during my degree.

FF Questions:

7) List one to three favourite Final Fantasy games and why you like them. Sequels/spin-offs/non-numbered/KH/Dissidia games are okay.
Final Fantasy X – I adore the storyline (I'm a sucker for angst), I love the world it's set in, I love the colours and the religion aspect and I especially love that there's a previous generation of characters (a la the Marauders in Harry Potter) who I prefer to the actual playable characters. Also: Auron. Enough said.
Final Fantasy XII – I know, I know, who prefers the PS2 FF games!? I'm a heathen, etc. Anyway, I love the characters (Ashe, Balther, Basch, Vossler, Larsa, Dr Cid, Al-Cid, basically anyone but Vaan and Penelo), I can't get enough of the world (even hearing the music for the Necrohol makes me desperately want to write something set there) and I really love the music, too. Also, the fact that it's kinda inter-textual with Vagrant Story makes me happy. I love Vagrant Story.
Final Fantasy VIII – Despite the fact that it took me 10 years to finish (don't even ask), you always remember your first FF game; FFVIII was mine. I'd never played a game like it before, and I was immediately hooked. Plus I have such a thing for Irvine it's untrue, ahah.

8) List one to three of your favourite Final Fantasy characters and why:
Yuna – She's strong, sticks to her guns the whole way through and she's not afraid of sacrifice.
Ashe – Again, strong. She goes through indecision and comes out the other end a better person.
Jecht – I think I'll always love Jecht; it's that Sphere he left Tidus where he tried his hardest to say how he felt but just couldn't. I know a lot of people think he was a bad father, and yeah, he kinda was, but he tried to be better and that's what counts.

9) One to three characters you relate to (you may reuse answers from #8 if applicable) and why:
Balthier – Because he's quick-witted, and he always seems to come up with a pun or something clever to say. I love puns.
Oerba Dia Vanille – I think I'm as chirpy as Vanille is. I may be answering this question wrong...

10) The FF game you liked playing least: Final Fantasy III, because I found it too hard. *is lame*

11) One to three FF characters you dislike and why:
Vaan – I hate his character design (shallow, I know), and he basically seems completely pointless to me. Plus I dislike his personality, too.
Zell – I'm not a fan of the punchy character archetype. Also, he's too hyperactive. It irritates me.
Genesis – Oooh controversial! I mostly hate Genesis cos he speaks in quotations all the sodding time, and because everyone bums him in the fandom so much that Angeal gets ignored completely, and I love Angeal with the power of a thousand suns.

12) Favourite weapon in a Final Fantasy game (either the name if you liked the name, or a picture if you liked the look of it, or a description if it had awesome stats/abilities): I love the look of Tidus' Caladbolg, but I think out of sheer awesomeness I'm gonna have to go with the Zodiac Spear from FFXII. Sheer attack power alone, as well as the fact that you can get it nice and early if you're willing to go through the Necrohol in the lv30s (ouch).

13) Your favourite Final Fantasy summon (e.g. Ifrit, Carbuncle, Bahamut, etc.): Odin, cos he's super duper badass.

14) Your favourite spell/ability/technique that can be learned in a Final Fantasy game (e.g. Esuna, Steal, special finishes/overdrives such as Tifa's Final Heaven limit break, etc.): I love Ultima in FFVIII, cos it looks like a giant pudding.

15) A Final Fantasy mini-game/sidequest you invested entirely too much time into: The Penance sidequest in FFX, considering I've not finished it yet, and you have to do soooo much extra training and defeat all the Dark Aeons and re-fill all the nodes with better ones etc. However, the one I always wanted to spend MORE time on was Chocograph hunting in FFIX. That shit was fun!

16) Your favourite Cid: Highwind. SIT DOWN AND DRINK YOUR GODDAMN TEA!!
Although Al-Cid Margrace (FFXII) and Doctor Cid (also FFXII) are close runners up. Also, Cid Raines cos he's pretty. But none of them beat Cid Highwind.

You know, I wrote this entire paragraph on why you're very Thief, and then I changed my mind because I saw Black Mage more. You're intelligent and not very physical, which calls to mind the mage classes immediately, and I think the trait of being strong-minded works particularly well for the Black Mage class. Some of them are very enthusiastic about what they learn and do, like Palom. Also, the entire 'I like routine with short bursts of excitement and impulse' kind of fits better with a mage lifestyle than with a thief lifestyle, IMO. They can also function well solo and as part of a team, and you said you could do either.

I can see a lot of different classes working for you, but I think I'm leaning slightly more towards Thief overall! Thieves in FF are generally strong-minded, enthusiastic, emotional, stubborn and maybe possible a little *too* over-sharing when it comes to certain things (Edge, Zidane, and Yuffie definitely tend to share quite a few if not all of those traits). They tend to be slightly more extroverted, but Thief characters like Vaan and Locke don't seem to fall into the major outgoing extreme that some of their other Thief counterparts do. The Thief characters tend to be cheerful, like taking charge, a mix of confident/modest, like routine-while-also-being-impulsive, and I could picture them in how you described your "masculine"/"feminine" answer as well. While you mentioned being averse to physical exertion, your capacity for being mentally enthusiastic fits Thief characters really well. Like you, Thief characters can work in a team or by themselves...but they're more likely to stay focused in a team dynamic (even if they try to take charge during it!). :)

...Yay for FFXII and Vagrant Story love! ♥

I think you're a Thief. Your comment about Balthier and being quick-witted + filthy sense of humor gave me a roguish vibe that fits a Thief best. I can see a bit of monk and black mage as well.

White Mage

[identity profile] bean-bunny.livejournal.com 2011-01-25 05:04 am (UTC)(link)
I'm going to say white mage! You're a thinkey sort of person, which makes me think of a mage, but you're cheery and work hard.

Yours was definately fun to read, honestly. XD Going through everything you said, I was torn between Black Mage and a Soldier. It brought me to Black Mage because of some of your personality traits, but it also led me to Soldier because of your choice in weapon and . .other personality traits as well. But I suppose I'll stick to my first choice and go for Black Mage, because of many Black Mage characters were enthusiatic and sometimeees emotional as well. x:

I can see bits of many of the types, but in the end I'm leaning towards Thief as well. They're among the most cheerful, and they're more likely to be leaders than some of the other types. All six of the adjectives you picked fit well in a general sense with most of the thieves in the series, and there are some of them that can be cautious yet still do things on a whim, such as Locke and many of the ninjas counted in the category... and I guess even Balthier could fit in that category since a pirate isn't too far from a thief. Your sense of humor also reminds me of that class, as odd as that may sound.

I'm going to have to side with Thief on this one. I was debating between a few classes like soldier, black mage, and thief, but as soon as I saw why you relate to Balthier and Vanille, it pushed it more towards thief, because I always associate being quick-witted with thiefs (and he is a pirate afterall). Your enthusiasm, reminds me of many of the thiefs, along with how you described your sense of humor, and even that you mentioned being bossy (Yuffie much?). The overall tone of your application and many of the answers make me think you'd do best in a fast paced battle type with similar skill sets, and since thieves can work alone or with a team it's a great type for you.

I really like the Thief vote for you. You're perky and bright, with a bossy and stubborn streak, which falls right in line with how I see FF thieves. Mostly, you just gave me crazy intense Yuffie-and-Zidane-vibes throughout this whole thing. ^^

My first thought was Thief also but I do see some black and white mage. You're cheerful, enthusiastic, stubborn and a bit bossy like some of the thieves from the game but at the same time you're more introverted and calmer like some other thieves (Locke for example). While this job class isn't really the leader type, there are some characters like Zidane who definitely fits. The way you described your "over-sharing" trait made me think of them too, if that makes any sense.

I just don't think you quite fit the thief job. I mean, a lot seems just like one, especially the thieves I can think of. But you seem just slightly more Black Mage. I know, I'm not helping your vote. Eh. But I just think your emotions, how you react, the things you said are just a little too black mage than anything else. You seem satisfied with a career that most others would think as boring and life-draining, but you find joy in it. A thief has to be running amok to be please, for the most part. And your characters you like and relate to kind of reflect the black mage for me; some of them, not so, but most of them are reserved, cheery, willing, etc. Plus you're English, you're intelligent and prideful. Find a thief with intelligence and pride, and you have got a job out of place.

(Thieves, I am only joking. <3)
