Personality Questions:

1) List and expand upon your three best traits / strengths. (These should be personality-related, not physical.)

I am funny, rational and empathetic. I make Light laugh a lot when I help her study. I find that I can't explain things like a normal person, I always have to use similes. Example: Light had to learn about prairie voles and some kind of behavior they exhibit, and had trouble remembering how to explain. I made up a long-winded story about a princess vole and the male voles fighting over her.

I tend not to jump into things without considering them first. Because of this, I'm terrible at making decisions, but I'm usually pretty certain about something once I decide to go through with it. I weigh pros and cons and think about things and usually have a reason for whatever I'm doing.

Finally, I feel with people, not just for them. :) I like to think I'm pretty good at understanding how a person is feeling and imagining what I would be like in that situation. Although I don't like it when people are upset, I do usually enjoy cheering them up. I think my funniness comes in here: I try to make people laugh when they're feeling down.

2) List and expand upon your three worst traits / weaknesses.

I am loud! I also talk on and on. While this is where some my humor comes from, it also means that sometimes, people drift off while I'm talking. I frequently also have people shush me when I get excited about a topic of conversation. My voice just gets louder and louder. These two traits combined mean that I can be a very annoying/boring person to talk to sometimes.

My third trait is that I'm very shy. Yeah, it's a strange contrast with the first two, but I don't approach people, usually, and so you have to get past the shy barrier in order to experience the deafening monologues. Hopefully, I won't be that bad online. Being shy also stops me from doing certain things: I don't ever want to stand out in a crowd, do presentations, etc.

3) Rate yourself on the following traits by putting an 'X' in the box you think fits best. (E.g. if you are slightly more introverted than extroverted, put an 'X' in the second box.) Explain your choice as well.

Introverted [ ] [ ] [X] [ ] [ ] Extroverted
Explain: I really enjoy time spent with friends, but I need recharge time afterward. I can go very long periods of time without talking/interacting with people, and I spend a lot of time in my head during those times. One the other hand, I do enjoy meeting new people and going out to lunch, watching a movie, etc, with friends, and I like keeping up with them on things going on in their lives.

Cheerful [ ] [X] [ ] [ ] [ ] Gloomy
Explain: I'm generally cheerful, but I do get really upset and frustrated sometimes, and those feelings tend to take over for however long until they fade (as in, I don't try to force them away). The emotions can be caused by small things (frustration with a TA, for instance), so it's not uncommon for me to mope around because I'm upset about something. That said, it's much more common for me to be cheerful.

Leader [ ] [ ] [ ] [X] [ ] Supportive
Explain: As I said above, I'm shy. I don't like being the center of attention, so leader isn't the best position for me, and I enjoy helping people out, so I'm quite happy being supportive. However, I won't allow someone who I think is incompetent or lacking in morals to boss me around. The fact that I like helping people forces me into a leader role sometimes, when the people around me obviously don't know what they're doing.

Confident [ ] [ ] [X] [ ] [ ] Modest
Explain: I don't enjoy bragging, so I don't always go about talking about my accomplishments, but I don't hide them, either. If I'm in a class, I don't tell everyone that I got a high score on a test. On the other hand, if someone asks me what my mark is, I'll tell them.

Reserved [ ] [X] [ ] [ ] [ ] Impulsive
Explain: This has more to do with just the fact that I can't say that I'm never impulsive. I tend more towards being reserved, thoughtful, etc, but sometimes emotions do take hold, especially when emotions are running high, I'm tired, etc.

Energetic [ ] [ ] [X] [ ] [ ] Calm
Explain: Again, I go back and forth. I'm energetic about talking to friends, certain kinds of discussion, and exploring new places/cultures. When I'm doing other things, like working, reading, or really anything that doesn't require much movement, my emotions calm down with my body. I'm not a ball of energy most of the time, but I can be if you get me going on the right topic.

Feminine [ ] [ ] [ ] [X] [ ] Masculine/Tomboyish
Explain: I definitely look more feminine, but I'd say that a lot of my interests are... Not feminine? They're not really masculine, either. I do like cute things and nice clothes, but I'd rather sit around and play video games, watch an action movie or read an epic adventure than go shopping or do my nails (most of the time :p).

4) Describe how you typically work in teams. Is it generally a good experience, or do you prefer working by yourself? Do you like to lead and make decisions or do you prefer to let others make decisions so that you can do the legwork? You may find it helpful to give an example of a team you worked on recently and how that went. I don't usually like to work with a team because I'm a very hard worker and I find that most of the people around me in classes aren't. They don't get excited about what we're doing, they just want to do the minimum amount possible. I, meanwhile, want to do the best job I can. I usually don't like to lead but, like I said earlier, I will if it's necessary. I like group decisions, where everyone gets a say and I'll put in ideas, but I'm likely to go along with the group if the majority is against me. I really appreciate when other people voice their opinions, because I'm not always good at spotting the flaws in my plans.

5) What interests/hobbies do you have? How do you like to spend your free time? I play video games, read, write on occasion. I spend a lot of time on schoolwork and just hanging out online. I like reading about other cultures (especially etiquette for some reason), languages and traveling. Oooh, I also play Dungeons and Dragons and greatly enjoy it. :D

6) Describe one to three careers you would find ideal, with a little explanation of why it appeals to you. ESL teacher, because I'd get to deal with English, people and different languages/cultures all at the same time. Researcher because, as it turns out, I'm very good at sitting at a computer and reading for long periods of time. I can get really excited about certain topics and I think I'd enjoy researching them. Journalism would also be cool, because I like reading about world events and, just like ESL, it also involves English and people.

FF Questions:

7) List one to three favorite Final Fantasy games and why you like them. Sequels/spin-offs/non-numbered/KH/Dissidia games are okay. Eek, I haven't played many. I liked the bit of 12 that I did play, and I plan on going back. I like the battle/tactics system, even if it's not very good for the tutorial when you only have one character. Speaking of characters, I love Fran and Balthier. The rest of the cast is pretty good, too. I like the setting a lot, and I think that the graphics are pretty, although they're a bit outdated now.

8) List one to three of your favorite Final Fantasy characters and why: I like Balthier a lot. I like thief characters in general, but I also like Balthier because he's charming, pretty smart, cool under pressure and has a nice shirt. I also think Fran is interesting. She's very quiet, but is cool under pressure, just like Balthier. She's also pretty cute. :p Finally, I like Auron. He's a very interesting character and just generally pretty cool.

9) One to three characters you relate to (you may reuse answers from #8 if applicable) and why: I don't know if I relate to anyone in FF so far. I really like many of the characters, but I can't say that I'm very similar to any of them. I've only played a couple of the games, so maybe this answer will change with time but, for now, I can't say there is anyone.

10) The FF game you liked playing least: I tried playing the first one. I usually enjoy old games, but I couldn't get into it. Maybe I'll go back and try again sometime?

11) One to three FF characters you dislike and why: I find Penelo very annoying (although she's got a good heart), and Ashe to be stuck up. I haven't finished the game, so please know that this is just how I'm finding them near the beginning/middle.

12) Favorite weapon in a Final Fantasy game (either the name if you liked the name, or a picture if you liked the look of it, or a description if it had awesome stats/abilities): The cool dagger-like things that Riku uses at the beginning of X-2. It's the thief-lover in me: I associate daggers with running across roofs in the middle of the night and pickpocketing. Plus, their design is pretty neat.

13) Your favorite Final Fantasy summon (e.g. Ifrit, Carbuncle, Bahamut, etc.): Ifrit, although I only know him from 10. I know he's not supposed to, but he just seems like a big puppy to me.

14) Your favorite spell/ability/technique that can be learned in a Final Fantasy game (e.g. Esuna, Steal, special finishes/overdrives such as Tifa's Final Heaven limit break, etc.): Aaaaah... I don't know if I have one of these, either. I like Lancet (Kimahri uses in 10) because I think it's neat, but I wouldn't say it's my favorite. I didn't use it much. I will say that I like having healing abilities. I'd rather have a strong healer, with various healing/defensive abilities, than have a strong damage dealer.

15) A Final Fantasy mini-game/sidequest you invested entirely too much time into: Again, not much experience, but I spent what felt like years trying to play Blitzball properly. Never really got it.

16) Your favorite Cid: (runs off to see if there's a Cid in 12; opens the big book that is The Final Fantasy Wiki and flips to a page; shrieks and slams it shut; "You'd think they'd put a spoiler warning!") ... Anyways, I have to default to FF 10 Cid, who is pretty all right. Not my favorite character, I don't actually remember much about him, but he definitely didn't bother me.

17) Optional: Up to one class you think does not fit you, with reasoning why.

I'm going to go with Thief. You seem energetic but also reserved so it seemed difficult but we also count Ninjas as Thieves here...which would be were I would place you. You also seem to enjoy Thief characters, like Rikku and Balthier. I also saw that you don't like to work in groups so, I think a loner ninja/thief definitely!

Hum, you're interesting! Loud and willing to give your opinion, energetic...but shy! XD I can sort of relate to that, despite being more on the shy side, I have a random explode-ey side, too. It's nice having people you can be yourself around, right? ^^ It's awesome you're a friend of an awesome fellow member. :)

Well, let's see. I'd have to say the same, while you have a few different attributes and personalities that could relate you to others, (I mean, I'm definitely getting Soldier vibes here, too) I'm seeing more of Thief. Different attributes of your personality such as being energetic, wanting to jump and go with projects on your own, supportive yet exciteable, etc. Still, the random "shy and supportive" makes me want to say Soldier, but I'm seeing much more that points to Thief, so there I stand!

PS: Hope you enjoy more FF titles! They've got some great stuff you haven't discovered yet. ^^

[identity profile] lightofeilia.livejournal.com 2011-03-28 03:30 pm (UTC)(link)
HELLO THERE IT'S ME. YOU ARE CURRENTLY ASLEEP BUT THAT IS OKAY ;D (I should totally be working on my paper but I HAVE TO VOTE FIRST)

So! I feel like you would be a White Mage, or even a Soldier, but I'm going to have to go with Thief for you too. Sitting on the sidelines and observing others, but intervening when necessary (NINJA), the fact that you're hilarious and loud (I think when you are high on caffeine you make a very good Yuffie) and also that you like daggers and thiefy people :D

You also say the kinds of things Soldier people would never say (ridiculous things) haha. The ideas of someone who dreams and is active and not afraid to speak her mind (to her friends)... yes, Thief for you!

Hmm...this is kind of tough! I'm definitely debating between the Thief and Monk classes for you...but, I think I'm leaning a little bit more towards Monk. Many of the characters that fall into that class are considered funny, rational, and empathetic...but quite a few of them are also slightly more willing to consider things before jumping right into them (like Tifa or Prishe). Many Monk characters are good at feeling with others and cheering up those around them who are down. While I'm not sure I'd ever call a Monk character "shy," there are more Monk characters who can be more reserved than their Thief counterparts tend to be in the FF games...and many can be loud and talkative too (like Snow and Zell). Your in-between introverted/extroverted traits fit well for the Monk class overall...and they're also generally cheerful, more willing to provide a supportive role, in-between modest/confident, in-between energetic/calm, and more likely to be described as not impulsive. A lot of Monk characters seem to enjoy working in groups where other members voice their own opinions too! And I could picture your ideal careers fitting for many Monk characters too. :)

[identity profile] breyzyyin.livejournal.com 2011-03-28 06:35 pm (UTC)(link)
Hmm...I could actually see where both the Monk and Thief votes are coming from, though I think I'm might be leaning a bit more towards Monk as well. Quite a few of the traits that you listed as being positive ones you have fit very well with Monk characters to me, and they can also be quite talkative at times too (such as Zell, Snow, and Prishe at times). However, there are also quite a few Monks who tend to fall under a more reserved if not outwardly shy category as well (Tifa, Yang, and Ursula being good examples of this). Quite a few Monk characters (Prishe, Tifa, Yang, Ursula, and Josef) also tend to be in-between introverted and extroverted, and many of them are also relatively cheerful for the most part and other moods tend to fade away rather quickly though they do have them at times too (Zell and Snow also fit into this category as do the characters I mentioned already). They tend to like listening and helping others out and usually Monk characters tend to be very supportive ones in their respective games because of that. There are also some of them who are more in-between modest and confident in that they don't brag about their accomplishments but don't really hide them either (Tifa and Yang being very good examples of this). And while many Monk characters can be impulsive at times, they are often more thoughtful in regards to their actions unless very dire situations come about (Yang, Tifa, and Josef for instance)...and quite a few of them tend to be in-between calm and energetic too. :)

Hehe, I hope that you'll be able to play more FF games soon--they're quite awesome! And yay for FFXII love too! ♥

This was hard. I definitely see something in between a Thief and a White Mage. Both classes are cheerful. Empathy, reservation, and shyness seem very fitting to white mages, while humor, loudness when excited, and [livejournal.com profile] stormloire's ninja reasoning are pretty good reasons for a thief vote. And now I can kind of see monk as well. I think I'm going to go with White Mage, though. Overall you gave me kind of a subdued feel, I guess? I'm a bit torn.

[identity profile] demuredreams.livejournal.com 2011-03-28 08:37 pm (UTC)(link)
Hmmm, Imma have to go with Thief as well :D

You are mostly reserved, but very passionate. I think this fits the Thief traits more than any others. Your humor and loudness is what sold it for me, reminds me a lot of Rikku ;)

I definitely see a Thief here, with some Monk - but I think you're overall more Thief than Monk. Many of the thieves in the FF games are helpful and empathetic people - and they're also loud, good-humoured and cheerful (I'm thinking of characters like Zidane and Rikku here). Many of them are also more on the adventurous side and the fact that you say you're cautious makes me think a little more of a Thief than a Monk - given what their job is, I imagine thieves would be a little more careful.

[identity profile] virago-queen.livejournal.com 2011-03-29 06:35 am (UTC)(link)
Ehh, you're a bit difficult. I think I'll have to jump on the Thief train though, due to your cheeriness and loudness. It's not a perfect fit, since you describe yourself as logical and shy, but I'd have to agree that you seem very Ninja-like in many aspects. There are a few really empathetic thieves, too, like Zidane and Rikku. Plus, you like Balthier! I mean, who doesn't like Balthier? Crazy people, that's who. /randomness

The Yuffie-icon is totally relevant.

[identity profile] haryan.livejournal.com 2011-03-29 09:39 am (UTC)(link)
I'm thinking Thief for you. Your three best and worst traits definitely remind me of characters like Zidane and Rikku somehow, since you mentioned you're funny, good at understanding others and loud. Like lots of thieves you enjoy time spent with friend and you enjoy meeting new people, you're cheerful but you get upset and frustrated sometimes (something that really reminds me of Zidane and Locke) and you're energetic. I can actually see a bit of Monk as well in some of your answers, but you mentioned you're not very tomboyish and your answers in general remind me mostly of Thief.

When I read your application, I was given the impression of someone who likes to stay on the fringe of things, but knows exactly what is going on at all times, and to me, that says Thief. Also, your personality ratings tended to be in the center, which makes me think you can be entirely flexible about yourself and any situation, cheerful and friendly yet cautious.

Sometimes its hard for me, the distinctions that set one class apart from another. I've played far less than half of the FF games myself. At first I was leaning toward White Mage, as you spoke of being shy and empathetic. More and more, though, I was reminded of Rikku (which I'll admit is the only resemblance of a thief in any of the games I've played!)

Also: Welcome!

[identity profile] the-404-error.livejournal.com 2011-03-29 08:26 pm (UTC)(link)
I was quite torn between thief and monk during most of this, but your responses in question number 3 actually make me lean towards Monk. They're typically a bit more on the support end of the spectrum than thieves are, but sometimes are forced into a leadership position due to simply being the most competent-- That seems to be how Yang became king of Fabul, in fact. They're also more likely to be reserved, particularly those along the lines of Tifa and Josef, where as all thieves tend to be pretty outgoing. I can definitely see how most of your other traits could fit either class well, though.

Image

[identity profile] lumati.livejournal.com 2011-03-29 08:38 pm (UTC)(link)
Thief, there are quite a few similarities between you and me I think and on a really easy level that alone was a great "well if I got sorted into Thief, then it works for you too!" that's probably a really funny reason though, isn't it? So I'd better come up with something more legit than that.

How about this? You describe yourself as being funny, loud, empathetic, rational, and talkative too. Those are all traits that I'd associate with several of the thieves throughout the final fantasy series.

Image

[identity profile] hilian.livejournal.com 2011-03-29 08:47 pm (UTC)(link)
I can see both thief and monk in your application, but in the end I am leaning more towards Thief. Your positive and negative traits remind me many monk and thief characters, because I think many of them are funny, loud, like to laugh and are good at understanding others, but the tone of your application reminded me more of characters like Locke and Zidane.

Thiefiethief! I am taking you for my team!

You seem very similar to me, and a lot of how you are (ie, the way you cheer up people) makes me think of... well. Most of the FF thievies. Locke, Zidane, Rikku, etc. The kind-heartedness feels whitemagey, but the way you cheer people up by making them laugh and stuff is more of a thiefie thing. ALL THE THIEF CHARACTERS DO IT. >.>

Your team ethics seem thiefy too, how you don't usually work in a team, but you're supportive when you do.

PLUS YOU LOVE US. YOU SHOULD COME HELP US STEAL TREASURES AND STABBITIES.

Your creativity, sense of humor, and cheerfulness make me think Theif! Theives don't always have to take the front stage, and many theives are very empathetic (e.i. Zidane). But almost all thieves are talkers! Haha! It is for that reason that I'm not going to vote Monk, who are generally the more reserved and shy than the thieves. Also, I generally see thieves as people who like to cheer others up as well, so this is definitely the class for you!

[personal profile] accidental_overlord 2011-03-30 08:04 pm (UTC)(link)
I was quite torn between Theif, Monk and White mage, as many others have said, Theif because you're loud and like sexy sky pirates and running over rooftops with knives, White Mage because you're empathetic, shy and would rather have a good healer than damage dealer on your party, and Monk because over all you remind me of characters like tifa who are kind, rational and can be shy or loud... or both.

i think i'm going to say Theif over all though

First thing - I like how you've been voting while still unstamped. A lot of people forget and the quality and thought you've put into your votes has impressed me! So, welcome, and a great job so far! :3

Mm, your extroversion and upbeat attitude do bring to mind the characteristics of a Monk, but impulsiveness is really the defining factor here so that one is out.

Obviously, the next option is the Monk allies, which are the devillishly fiendish and amazingly talented Thieves, who are usually very upbeat, and have big instances of empathy (others have mentioned Zidane as a good example) but can also be standoffish to those they are not comfortable with (such as Rikku at the start of FFX).

I also feel you would benefit from the cohesive nature I've witnessed within Team Thief, which would help you start to feel at home within the landcomm and give you extra incentive to participate! :3

I'm leaning somewhere between White Mage and Thief -- you start off by describing yourself as empathetic and people-helpy, which does go both ways, cheering people up seems to roll both ways as well :)

Apparently what makes me more magey than thief is laziness and wanting to sit back rather than running around, and I see energy, thief-love and a perky kind of tone running through your application.

I see why people are voting Thief for you but I feel you are more White Mage -- shyness, being generally reserved, and pretty modest. (I get the feeling that you're modest about being modest, as well!) You also wrote that you'd rather have a strong healer rather than a strong damage dealer, and this pushes things towards White Mage for me as well. I'm a believer in that 'best defense being a good offense' thing, and I don't see thieves as the sort to think about defense -- someone will cover for them! They just go in and go! go! go!

It won't make much difference at this point, but... yeah. ^_^;;
