Personality Questions:
1) List and expand upon your three best traits / strengths. (These should be personality-related, not physical.)
I am funny, rational and empathetic. I make Light laugh a lot when I help her study. I find that I can't explain things like a normal person, I always have to use similes. Example: Light had to learn about prairie voles and some kind of behavior they exhibit, and had trouble remembering how to explain. I made up a long-winded story about a princess vole and the male voles fighting over her.
I tend not to jump into things without considering them first. Because of this, I'm terrible at making decisions, but I'm usually pretty certain about something once I decide to go through with it. I weigh pros and cons and think about things and usually have a reason for whatever I'm doing.
Finally, I feel with people, not just for them. :) I like to think I'm pretty good at understanding how a person is feeling and imagining what I would be like in that situation. Although I don't like it when people are upset, I do usually enjoy cheering them up. I think my funniness comes in here: I try to make people laugh when they're feeling down.
2) List and expand upon your three worst traits / weaknesses.
I am loud! I also talk on and on. While this is where some my humor comes from, it also means that sometimes, people drift off while I'm talking. I frequently also have people shush me when I get excited about a topic of conversation. My voice just gets louder and louder. These two traits combined mean that I can be a very annoying/boring person to talk to sometimes.
My third trait is that I'm very shy. Yeah, it's a strange contrast with the first two, but I don't approach people, usually, and so you have to get past the shy barrier in order to experience the deafening monologues. Hopefully, I won't be that bad online. Being shy also stops me from doing certain things: I don't ever want to stand out in a crowd, do presentations, etc.
3) Rate yourself on the following traits by putting an 'X' in the box you think fits best. (E.g. if you are slightly more introverted than extroverted, put an 'X' in the second box.) Explain your choice as well.
Introverted [ ] [ ] [X] [ ] [ ] Extroverted
Explain: I really enjoy time spent with friends, but I need recharge time afterward. I can go very long periods of time without talking/interacting with people, and I spend a lot of time in my head during those times. One the other hand, I do enjoy meeting new people and going out to lunch, watching a movie, etc, with friends, and I like keeping up with them on things going on in their lives.
Cheerful [ ] [X] [ ] [ ] [ ] Gloomy
Explain: I'm generally cheerful, but I do get really upset and frustrated sometimes, and those feelings tend to take over for however long until they fade (as in, I don't try to force them away). The emotions can be caused by small things (frustration with a TA, for instance), so it's not uncommon for me to mope around because I'm upset about something. That said, it's much more common for me to be cheerful.
Leader [ ] [ ] [ ] [X] [ ] Supportive
Explain: As I said above, I'm shy. I don't like being the center of attention, so leader isn't the best position for me, and I enjoy helping people out, so I'm quite happy being supportive. However, I won't allow someone who I think is incompetent or lacking in morals to boss me around. The fact that I like helping people forces me into a leader role sometimes, when the people around me obviously don't know what they're doing.
Confident [ ] [ ] [X] [ ] [ ] Modest
Explain: I don't enjoy bragging, so I don't always go about talking about my accomplishments, but I don't hide them, either. If I'm in a class, I don't tell everyone that I got a high score on a test. On the other hand, if someone asks me what my mark is, I'll tell them.
Reserved [ ] [X] [ ] [ ] [ ] Impulsive
Explain: This has more to do with just the fact that I can't say that I'm never impulsive. I tend more towards being reserved, thoughtful, etc, but sometimes emotions do take hold, especially when emotions are running high, I'm tired, etc.
Energetic [ ] [ ] [X] [ ] [ ] Calm
Explain: Again, I go back and forth. I'm energetic about talking to friends, certain kinds of discussion, and exploring new places/cultures. When I'm doing other things, like working, reading, or really anything that doesn't require much movement, my emotions calm down with my body. I'm not a ball of energy most of the time, but I can be if you get me going on the right topic.
Feminine [ ] [ ] [ ] [X] [ ] Masculine/Tomboyish
Explain: I definitely look more feminine, but I'd say that a lot of my interests are... Not feminine? They're not really masculine, either. I do like cute things and nice clothes, but I'd rather sit around and play video games, watch an action movie or read an epic adventure than go shopping or do my nails (most of the time :p).
4) Describe how you typically work in teams. Is it generally a good experience, or do you prefer working by yourself? Do you like to lead and make decisions or do you prefer to let others make decisions so that you can do the legwork? You may find it helpful to give an example of a team you worked on recently and how that went. I don't usually like to work with a team because I'm a very hard worker and I find that most of the people around me in classes aren't. They don't get excited about what we're doing, they just want to do the minimum amount possible. I, meanwhile, want to do the best job I can. I usually don't like to lead but, like I said earlier, I will if it's necessary. I like group decisions, where everyone gets a say and I'll put in ideas, but I'm likely to go along with the group if the majority is against me. I really appreciate when other people voice their opinions, because I'm not always good at spotting the flaws in my plans.
5) What interests/hobbies do you have? How do you like to spend your free time? I play video games, read, write on occasion. I spend a lot of time on schoolwork and just hanging out online. I like reading about other cultures (especially etiquette for some reason), languages and traveling. Oooh, I also play Dungeons and Dragons and greatly enjoy it. :D
6) Describe one to three careers you would find ideal, with a little explanation of why it appeals to you. ESL teacher, because I'd get to deal with English, people and different languages/cultures all at the same time. Researcher because, as it turns out, I'm very good at sitting at a computer and reading for long periods of time. I can get really excited about certain topics and I think I'd enjoy researching them. Journalism would also be cool, because I like reading about world events and, just like ESL, it also involves English and people.
FF Questions:
7) List one to three favorite Final Fantasy games and why you like them. Sequels/spin-offs/non-numbered/KH/Dissidia games are okay. Eek, I haven't played many. I liked the bit of 12 that I did play, and I plan on going back. I like the battle/tactics system, even if it's not very good for the tutorial when you only have one character. Speaking of characters, I love Fran and Balthier. The rest of the cast is pretty good, too. I like the setting a lot, and I think that the graphics are pretty, although they're a bit outdated now.
8) List one to three of your favorite Final Fantasy characters and why: I like Balthier a lot. I like thief characters in general, but I also like Balthier because he's charming, pretty smart, cool under pressure and has a nice shirt. I also think Fran is interesting. She's very quiet, but is cool under pressure, just like Balthier. She's also pretty cute. :p Finally, I like Auron. He's a very interesting character and just generally pretty cool.
9) One to three characters you relate to (you may reuse answers from #8 if applicable) and why: I don't know if I relate to anyone in FF so far. I really like many of the characters, but I can't say that I'm very similar to any of them. I've only played a couple of the games, so maybe this answer will change with time but, for now, I can't say there is anyone.
10) The FF game you liked playing least: I tried playing the first one. I usually enjoy old games, but I couldn't get into it. Maybe I'll go back and try again sometime?
11) One to three FF characters you dislike and why: I find Penelo very annoying (although she's got a good heart), and Ashe to be stuck up. I haven't finished the game, so please know that this is just how I'm finding them near the beginning/middle.
12) Favorite weapon in a Final Fantasy game (either the name if you liked the name, or a picture if you liked the look of it, or a description if it had awesome stats/abilities): The cool dagger-like things that Riku uses at the beginning of X-2. It's the thief-lover in me: I associate daggers with running across roofs in the middle of the night and pickpocketing. Plus, their design is pretty neat.
13) Your favorite Final Fantasy summon (e.g. Ifrit, Carbuncle, Bahamut, etc.): Ifrit, although I only know him from 10. I know he's not supposed to, but he just seems like a big puppy to me.
14) Your favorite spell/ability/technique that can be learned in a Final Fantasy game (e.g. Esuna, Steal, special finishes/overdrives such as Tifa's Final Heaven limit break, etc.): Aaaaah... I don't know if I have one of these, either. I like Lancet (Kimahri uses in 10) because I think it's neat, but I wouldn't say it's my favorite. I didn't use it much. I will say that I like having healing abilities. I'd rather have a strong healer, with various healing/defensive abilities, than have a strong damage dealer.
15) A Final Fantasy mini-game/sidequest you invested entirely too much time into: Again, not much experience, but I spent what felt like years trying to play Blitzball properly. Never really got it.
16) Your favorite Cid: (runs off to see if there's a Cid in 12; opens the big book that is The Final Fantasy Wiki and flips to a page; shrieks and slams it shut; "You'd think they'd put a spoiler warning!") ... Anyways, I have to default to FF 10 Cid, who is pretty all right. Not my favorite character, I don't actually remember much about him, but he definitely didn't bother me.
17) Optional: Up to one class you think does not fit you, with reasoning why.
no subject
Sometimes its hard for me, the distinctions that set one class apart from another. I've played far less than half of the FF games myself. At first I was leaning toward White Mage, as you spoke of being shy and empathetic. More and more, though, I was reminded of Rikku (which I'll admit is the only resemblance of a thief in any of the games I've played!)
Also: Welcome!
